OH has just remembered about the Kirsch we bought in the Black Forest in May, so we are now sampling it!  Have to do something to cheer ourselves up.

Tasty but very sweet, only to be enjoyed in small quantities.

We also bought some delicious Black Cherry Jam, and some smoked ham, but they are long since finished.

German food is very tasty, and very reasonably priced.

When are you next off on your travels Kj. We've been emptying the attic of all the rubbish we've collected. Nearly there, we have to make space as the youngest is moving to Malta to live and work for a few years, so wants us to look after a few boxes of
personal. That's on top of ALL his university course work, which is a lot as he did an Arts course.

Can we entice you to come over here and clear our loft too?!

Goodness knows what all is up there!  We still have suitcases and stuff that belonged to OH's mum, plus all manner of camping gear, plus train sets, Scalectrix, dolls and prams, Tonka toys, My Little Pony,  etc etc!

DD has said (very seriously) "please clear the loft before you die, not leave it to me".  But most of the stuff up there is not "ours"!

We are heading off for 4 weeks in early September, would be sooner but I have a colleague coming to visit while his wife is at a wedding in Falkland.  Going down the east coast, first stop is River Breamish.  Hoping to visit multiple MH dealers en route
    when we get further south.

Furthest point is Norfolk Broads, then across the middle and north up the west side, last stop is Garlieston, not been much in that area at all.

Had our ex works pensioner monthly meeting today. Guest speaker was Bill Hamilton the former BBC TV journalist. Excellent talk and interesting to get an insight behind the news.

Been to Annecy today.  Done most of the packing up.  Tomorrow we're off to Chalon-en-Champagne, the last leg of our figure-of-eight tour of Germany, France and Italy.  Four nights at Chalons-en-Champagne,  one night at Black Horse Farm and then we'll be
    heading for home.

Instead of walking from the site we went over to Croome Park. Tried to follow one of the way marked trails but somehow lost the markers, so ended up walking back to the Park anlong the road. Lunch in the car then down to the house, where more has been added
since our last visit, including a "spectacular" set of modern tapestries. Ended the afternoon with a walk round the lake and gardens. Great place for a day out. Perhaps we'll go walking from the CL tomorrow!

Bit like ours then, managed to get eldest to take a lot of his stuff awhile back but still have his lego and stamp collections. youngest sons stuff is very heavy being mostly books, drawings, paintings etc. a few games, but have to admit there is still too
much of our stuff up there, next wet day should see us finish it.

We are off down to Yorkshire begining of September, going on a narrow boat trip with my sister and her husband for a week then we have 10 days in the M/H before coming home to do the washing and re-pack to go to Gran Canaria for 2 weeks.

David would be interested in how Chalons is this year, there was supposed to have had work done on the facilities block over the winter. Hope you continue to have a good time.

worth it to see the waterfall, now having a few beers & a catch up on Czt

Oh yes, we have a huge box of Lego too (not in the loft), but DD has her eye on that for her prospective children.  The current GCs have loads of new Lego, so she will likely inherit that too.  Must be worth a small fortune.

DIL said she would take the train sets etc and sell them on e Bay, so we said we would just keep them.

We have loads of books, OH's Dad was a bookworm, as is OH, so we have many bookcases, but books are not allowed in our loft in case they bring the ceiling down!

Luckily we have lots of built-in cupboards......yet more places that need cleared out.  Surprised

We both had all our Uni notes until quite recently, when we realised that realistically we would never need them again.  Same with loads of Scientific American and Gardeners' World magazines.

I would be very interested if you could give me an update on the Chalons site as there are lots of posts about it going downhill. particularly the toilet block. I did hear rumours that they had started to renovate them so I would be interested to know if
that is the case and what sort of job they have made of them. Photos even better with getting yourself arrested!!!

Having returned from our three week perambulation and washed the car and caravan, it's now time for a couple of minor  maintainence jobs on the van. Dodgy connection on the reversing light( plus those fiddly expanding rubber screw fixings Yell)
and a loose hinge on the kitchen worktop extension.

We didn't get time to visit Croome Park  hoping to get there over the BH weekend, glad you enjoyed it. We often start out on a walk following markers and end up taking a rather different route back. Embarassed

Feeling exhausted after all the moving over the last few days. Still we had excellent weather for tent camping but we're glad to get back to our caravan today.

I don't envy you all that moving, putting up and taking down tent and awning, just for a couple of days. Sounds like hard work.Frown

Went and had my hair cut, and a wonder round the shops. Came home to find the dog was limping, Sad he had been fine on his walk this morning.Undecided
Couldn't find anything obviously wrong so just gentle stroll down to the park this afternoon,  will have to see how he is tomorrow.

All the talk of clearing garages, reminds me we have to get ours sorted this weekend, mind you ours is also full of things that belong to the boys Yell just
wish we could get them to take the stuff away!

Memo to self - never clear out the loft - MOH will find plenty of "it'll come in handy" items to refill it!

A productive afternoon. After a trip to the chandlery at Port Solent and buying the OH a coffee overlooking the marina, I set to on the outstanding jobs after our recent trip. Larger screws for the kitchen worktop hinge instead of the stupidly small
ones fitted by Abbey and removal and cleaning of the contacts on the N/S rear light cluster which hopefully will mean a full set of lights next time out. I only managed to lose one of those rubber rawlplug thingies inside the panel cavity.

I know what you mean.....just replaced the tiny screws holding our caravan wardrobe doors on, with some bigger ones. I used a couple of screws from my collection, found in the caravan, that have dropped out of who knows what.....Undecided

More sorting out of the attic this morning as it was raining, shock horror the forecast was wrong again. We got stopped at 11.00 though as we had a visitor, should have been 10.00 but he was held up, no phone call to advise us, so OH wasn't very pleased.
Then my sister and her husband paid us a visit so never got back to it until later. One more trip to the skip and a bit of food shopping this afternoon, still raining, 20.10 tonight the rain stopped and the sun came out, flipping typical. Going into town tomorrow
with big sis to have a mooch around. OH is off to his first "Men in sheds" morning, they are trying to get it up and running in the village, OH is on the development committee for the village.  Hopefully the weather will start to get better over the weekend
and we can get back to working outdoors and get the big hedges finished, they look a bit funny at the moment being only half cut.
