Stopped for a pre-lunch coffee break 'cos the new fridge for my 'van has arrived !!
Taken 45 mins to unpack it -- it's too wide to come thro the inner doorway so its a case of release this bit
then run round the house and attack it from the other side, then repeat it again & again -- after lunch it's connection & trial time. Then, maybe, just maybe I'll think of a salad tea like any happy bunny should !!At least it is not too hot to work and/or run L O L !!
I hope the unpacked fridge will not be too wide to go through the van door?

Sat over looking the harbour in Stavanger. First chance to use the Internet since leaving Southampton on Saturday evening. No idea why people complain about the price of WiFi access on Club sites. Onboard Britainia its an eye watering £30 for 100 minutes.
Now using roaming data on my phone!!!David

Henry came to visit us just now (first time we've seen her since we got back from holiday). She's lost another of her young......down to four now.....dammit!
They are getting bigger and are growing their feathers.......every passing day should make them safer from predators.
A load of adult ducks came into the garden this morning (it might be the corn feed that I throw on the lawn )........and amongst them was a youngster that looked just like the one missing from Henry's brood.....dodging and diving around the adults to get his share.
Fingers crossed her family is still intact.......

No, KjellNN, the { now fitted & working } fridge is quite slender in truth, but the packaging
oh dear !There is enough cardboard packaging surrounding the box it came in, along with some sheets of "50 p" sized bubble wrap, and enough polystyrene framing / filling to have saved the Titanic. Still it'll all disappear into the
Great Town Tip tomorrow along with the dead fridge !But thanks for the thought

Great news re the fridge, you will be able to get away now.
Not too sure if I dare now H & T !
The caravan repair folk took the fridge out easily and tho' they put it back I was quite happy to tackle this myself when the new fridge came.
What I had not realised was the fridge walls were about 3 centimetres thick, the four screws were about 3.5 cm. So allowing for a lttle air-space on each side there was not a lot holding a 21 kg skull cracker in place ! The fridge itself is rather more securely fixed now, but what about the stuff its fastened too ?? Does it all depend on Unity for Safety ??

As I look outside the caravan window, there's a definite feeling that the days are drawing in. It's only 23 minutes past nine and it's almost dusk.

Still quite light up here, even though it is cloudy.
Write your comments here...One of the advantages of living up north, KjellNN!

Visited Monaco today. Thought we'd stop for the first in the International firework display. Waited around until after 10pm (the start time), only to find that they have cancelled the whole competition this year because of the events in Nice.

No update on baby's kidney scan, midwife been and hadn't heard but has much the same view as myself - without the pregnancy scan you'd not know years ago, all appears fine baby settles poos and wees fine and you can survive with one kidney. Such commonsense
no drama although obviously we do want to know eventually.Winter seems to be settling in here we do have sunny days but have had a couple of real heavy overnight rains with strong winds temperature cooling but still around 12 -14 c at least most days but rain makes it feel chilly damp.
We babysat law Friday evening more on the cards. Daughter out for a walk eldest granddaughter at kindy until 1215, as opposed to daycare, settling in well then lunch and appointment with chiropractor for baby probably the last, and shopping. Day gone
. I'm on washing duty that's easy but drying is another matter thank goodness for large garage we can get the air through most of stuff doesn't tumble even if daughter had one!!Really enjoying our stay and loving the children don't know how I managed and can't imagine why women of my age have infertility treatment to give birth in their fifties and older.........
Signing off now befoibefoire I'm timed out as other duties are calling. Sleep tight enjoy your day.

Is that mini still glued to the side of that building on the road up towards the church?
Having built up a bit of loyalty, we at least get a couple of hours free wifi with Cunard. Didn't use it at all on Ventura last month.

Visited Holyhead yesterday against the advice of my daughter. I can see her point. What kind of seafront attraction, The maritime museum, closes on a Monday during the school summer holidays?
Returned earlyish to nip up the road to Moelfre to watch them launch the lifeboat which we noticed was scheduled when we visited at the end of last week. I enquired of one of the crew whether they had a crystal ball to enable them to predict 'shouts' but it was a training exercise.

Day 2 of child minding the gkids and ive not killed them yet! Went out yesterday in the car to look at the canal boats in Sowerby, we are going on one in few weeks from there. Kids loved watching them going up through the locks, they even helped out with
opening the gates. Both fast asleep on the way homeToday cooking lessons, lasagne, cheese and onion pie and banana loaf. Kids now out playing, gran and grandad having cuppa and sit down

Travelled up to Alesund overnight. Walked into town this morning and had a look round the harbour. After a major fire in 1904 which virtually destroyed the town it has been rebuilt in Art Deco style which gives it a nice look.

ps didn't see the mini!

If you have time before you sail, there's a good view from the cafe at the top of the mountain. There are steps but it's a bit of a trek.

418 steps, don't think my knees would survive that!!! Can actually see where you mean from our balcony, people have been go up and down all day. Could take the tourist train but at £19 each it's a bit excessively! Things in Norway are not cheap!

Spent a lovely morning at Burton Mere RSPB reserve (see wildlife thread) and afternoon being scratched to bits by Berberis, having decided to give it a haircut.
Saw a great sign at the reserve relating to the Giant Silkworm Moth. Apparently the male can smell a female from 7 miles away! Either shes very unhygenic, uses the moth equivalent of Lynx or just plain unlucky. Things you learn, eh?
