Fitted the scooter platform and when folded up it just clears the bike rack (phew) and sorted out a few annoying rattles we "found" last time out , removed the free standing table ( why are they so heavy) and ordered a tie down kit for the sun canopy

was going to fit the "tyre-pal" kit but couldn't make out the instructions so I will have to read the manual

...The tyrepal system as fitted as standard to our c/van ,is still not set up as neither our  dealer or a tyre dealership has been succesfull and tyrepal have not been that informative either

We bought the original Tyre Pal system for our twin axle van,  It worked fine

Last year we bought the new system, which we have fitted to the van, it also works very well, we plan to fit the old system to the car.

Today we were at DS's place in deepest,  darkest Ayrshire, a bit south of Glasgow. just under an hour from our place, He had requested some plumbing help to remove a basin in a bedroom, but his problems were much greater than that.

They are doing up a spare room.  Their house is an 1800s  farmhouse, so lots of things to go wrong.

Turned out the chimney from the lounge below  goes through this spare bedroom, some tiles on the roof had slipped, and water had been coming in.  The area was in a wardrobe, so they had not noticed......yep.....lots of damp, rotten wood and crumbling plaster.  The joys of owning an old house!!

Lot more to remove and repair than they had bargained for.  Just as well they are well heeled. Got the old basin out and fitted valves to the pipes and sealed up the waste pipe temporarily.

OH is now informed as to the cutains they need altered, seems it's  more than a small alteration. 3 sets of curtains, fully lined are involved. A lot of work.

DIL is now informed about curtain hooks and curtain rail gliders, which she had no idea about before!!

Had lunch with them, then DIL went to fetch new car (a Mazda something) .  Played with grandchildren, then home about 5pm.

HelenandTrevor have a great day, could you ask the sun to burn off the cloud in Essex please?

KjellNN another busy day for you, and your wife by the sound of it!  I often ponder the fact that our children didn't absorb our DIY skills completely . Both of them can do what their dad does DIY wise but sewing past my daughter by, son can just about
do running repairs with a needle. On one visit to NZ I had to sew buttons into a duvet cover, this despite her being a Brownie, offered to show her again how to do it but she declined........

Now on the final countdown, going in to paid work finished until I job hunt on our return.  I hope the weather stays good for washing and cleaning so house is ready for our return.  Lists made and looking
forward to crossing off as I progress.  On a sad note changed some pounds into kiwi dollars yesterday, rate more than 20 cents a pound down .

Good to hear about Henry! We once brought up a single duckling (the only survivor from an attack.) We called her Isobel but she turned into a drake. We think "she" joined others at a local rspb Insh Marshes nature reserve  very near to us in Scotalnd at
the time. She made regular solo return visits to our garden.

We had a full fried English breakfast this morning, in the caravan, of two Butchers pork sausages, two rashers of bacon, fried tomato, mushrooms and two slices of buttered toast. After that was a trip to the bank, to bank yesterdays earnings, then back to
the caravan for lunch of fish with barbecued potato wedges and greens. This was followed by an afternoon siesta and now watching the tennis on tv in between short showers of rain.

The van's on the drive now ready for Saturday's getaway. We've just taken Harry & Lady out for a walk and as soon as we got home they were out of the house to the door of the van. Stupid dogs, haven't got a clue about how long the preparation takes for going
    away! Laughing

It's comfortable here in Worthing with the weather as it is now. Not too hot and not too cold, just right. Granted it's not the kind of weather for sunbathing or lying on the beach and you wouldn't want to be swimming in the sea either but for normal day
to day tasks, it's the kind of weather I like.

Just had a topsy turvy couple of days as we've had our 30+ year old hot water system(tank and all) replaced. Had to move all sorts of things so all radiators etc could be drained down. Gave us a good excuse to do some reorganising

all done now, nice neat job, trouble is we've now got the heating on to test the system and check for airlocks. It's a bit warm

Busy day today and nice and sunny not hot but very pleasant. OH finished off the fitting of the tow bar on my car, he just had the electrics to do today having fitted the tow bar yesterday and fitted a new rear spring. He's very handy to have I think I'll keep him around for a bit longerWink

I decided as it was a nice dry day I would clean the inside of the van. Everything has been cleaned within an inch of its life, carpets steam cleaned, toilet steam cleaned, and I even steamed the net blinds on the windows, I have struggled with getting them clean in the past but today I had a brain wave and used the steam on low with the attachment for doing curtains, it worked a treatSmile

Edit, IanH good news about HenrySmile
