Belt or Braces ?
I've always held my trousers up with a belt. However, as age and expanding girth have crept up on me, I find myself having to constantly hitch up my trousers when out for a walk. A pain when wearing several layers on the top half.
A partial solution was found, in trousers with elasticated waist bands, such as Craghoppers Kiwi trousers. Elastic belts also helped.
But I have now given in, and bought several sets of clip on braces (suspenders in Americanese). OK, they look ridiculous, but hidden under a zipped up walking jacket no one is any the wiser.
Getting the tension correct is important, to avaoid getting a 'wedgie', once adjusted the comfort and security is brilliant.
Am I alone in this ?

I know what you mean Rich, but where do you get braces that hold on to your trousers without unclipping, when you bend down ?

Elastic braces, from Ebay, all the way from China.

It all depends on the waist size and how long a belt you can find.

Richard, a lot of the time I can be found using a belt {purely to have something to hook my wallet & key chain on } and a pair of American Clip on braces to hold my bags up !
These Braces ( £10 a throw ) are ample length & come in divers colour ways or patterns. Right now they are Black with Smiley faces every 3 inches, but some have D I Y tools depicted, some Gardening Tools, but Sundays Are Specials 'cos they have bootiful pink flamingoes ! Who would want to hide those ??

I just maintain my trim sylph-like figure then there's no problem.

My belts still fit perfectly well, but my waist appears to have moved downhill by a couple of inches.

Belts for me. Tried braces over Christmas and they just end up pulling the back of your trousers up and giving you a nasties wedgie.
