Write your comments here...That pitch is shocking. If that is what the warden considered a marketable pitch and charged money for it. IMO.the caravanner was ripped off.
A refund of site fees would be well worth investigating.

Ian it is in truly terrible condition and should have been removed from available pitches. The one thing I find surprising about the haven pitch is the amount of grass and only a small concrete hardstanding. I thought these euro pitches were all hardstanding, and I had booked it, would have been as shocked as TW.

thought these euro pitches were all hardstanding, and I had booked it, would have been as shocked as TW.It's part concrete slab (small) and part reinforced 'grass', Steve. It's all classed as a HS. On some sites they use chippings alongside the slab which would be preferable.

Actually that CC pitch itself was not too bad. It was the access to it.
At least there was room to walk around the van and open doors.

...Interesting picture? was this after you had just arrived,? if so it just shows how some of our fellow members treat the pitches, it looks like a mv was there before as the "skid marks are to the rear which would not have been caused by a caravan beig towed off

Seaview Haven and Weymouth Bay sites are next to each other, a very large area. You have to like big sites to use these and not mind being close to the maintenance area.
Cheers, Brue. Thanks for posting. The facilities on both sites can be used by people staying at either.
The touring site is close to the main Seaview complex and that's why we were disturbed by the noise from the boiler house.
We had pitch 30 on the extreme right of the map. The road by that pitch is a cul-de-sac and does not bend around to the lower field. The map is inaccurate in that respect and it doesn't indicate the hedges between pitches either. It's probably an artists
impression rather than a map as such.0 -

Possibly the state of Ian's pitch resulted from folk trying to extricate / site themselves, rather than get the warden to do it. Of course if it's a motorhome they really don't have any choice as the tractors are not up to towing that sort of weight. So
really the pitches should have been taken out of use in an effort to avoid damage. Our, first caravaning trip 11 years ago was to Malvern at Easter, and we ended up on very wet grass. Although the van sunk somewhat, I did manage to extricate it with minimal
damage. Some other members turned their pitches into ploughed fields. As Easter was at the end of March those pitches would have been compromised for the rest of the year. They should have never been used.0 -
Until it is known when and year the pictures were taken, one can only guess, as a grass pitch can go from usable to as pictured quite quickly, depending on the type of ground in the area,and was the pitch Ian was put on the only one available? after a bad spell of weather?
It is known that some wardens on seasonal sites with, at times ,poor ground conditions , to advise HO not to let all pitches,before they open to try to aleviate the problems

It's a Temporary Holiday Site run, usually, by local associations of C&CC, John.
