Pitching Instruction

Get rid of the club houses, veg prep, information rooms etc that are - IMO only - a waste of space and heating (and would be much better as coat drying rooms like some sites have) Then you could have a nice  waiting area or car park if you wanted to.  It wont happen as other people use them so it wouldnt be practical  or fair- my point is that something would have to be sacrificed to make a car park and no one would ever agree as to what..  

I am open mouthed in astonishment at just how much stuff some folks need to take on holiday. Not criticising by the way, individual choice and all that, but I now know why some struggle with towing weights, storage space, taking ages to get set up, etc...... 

 

 

You would be open mouthed with astonishment with our kit then.  We travel for up to 3 months at a time and expect (and often meet) all seasons on our trips e.g snow in Spain before later enjoying 30+ degrees and take clothing bedding etc to suite. Also since
its our home for around 4 months a year we dont intend living a "hairshirt" existence and take anything we want to live a comfortable  life. No problem with weights for us though  a we have a large car with around 600kg  payload in addition to that included
in the van.As for ages to set up, thatsvonly a problem if you are forever moving on,  we have been on our present site for nearly a month and a few hours  extra to pack/unpack is not an issue

I should have qualified my post a bit more, can fully understand taking quite a bit of stuff when away for very long trips such as yours and Nellie's. It is some of those on short stays that astonish us with what comes out of car, but as I did say, it is
individual choice. 

Back on topic......now at Beechwood Grange, they have a photograph of how to pitch (car/van/awning as viewed from the road) stuck to the counter in reception, and the warden brings it to your attention when you check in.

Looks like all the vans near us are pitched correctly, yet even so, a new arrival went totally the wrong side of the peg!

Was like that last week when we were there, the M/H next to us was right over against the left (as you look at it) of the pitch within 3ft of our pitch, he was also parked nose in, no problem if he had pitched correctly. I had a word with the warden and
asked if he could have a word. Two other's opposite us were also pitched incorrectly.

I will need to take a walk around and check out the rest of the site, but the area we are in it looks like everyone is pitched OK now.

New arrival came while we were finishing lunch, couldn't believe he could not see he was pitching different to everyone else!

When she was taking the coffee pot to wash, OH pointed out his mistake and he very promptly moved to the correct position.

Write your comments here...The warden staff should have pointed out that mistake when he/she were doing their rounds of the site.  Not left it to people who are on holiday themselves. to do their work for them.

He had probably only been pitched wrong for less than 30 minutes, and wardens were no doubt busy  dealing with all the new arrivals.

We saw they unloaded an awning, so thought it only friendly to say something before they got set up

..Well done for that KJ ,as has been stated on numerous occasions,wardens cannot be all seeing 24/7 as some expect ,and you probably saved a negative review or post on here when they had to move after setting up,its called being a good member to others 

There is absolutely no reason for members pitching against the rules.  Car/caravan/awning is perfectly straightforward.  The rules also allow for vans to go in nose first and the positioning of the car and awning being reversed.  The rule is so easy to understand.

The warden staff cant help see, even from a considerable distance when members are ignoring the pitching instructions. .

Are we being asked to believe that once pitched, the warden has no authority to insist that the vanner pitches correctly.

I dont believe that. If the warden is up to the job he/she will ensure that the site rules are adhered to and insist that the vanner re-pitches correctly.

K Most of us on here understand that your mission seems to be trying to work towards your own nevarna, instead of as most of us understand, there is out there, a real world  ,and as the majorty of sites in any organisation are are spread over several acres
that would need a person with x-ray eyes  to see as you think can be achieved
