Just arrived at a C&CC site. Warden (sorry site manager) showed me the pitch which was right opposite reception. I pitched as per instructions, peg to off side. Saw him looking at the van and he suggested we move about a metre from the peg as the ground was more level. So I am officially wide of the mark!!!

Write your comments here...Ah but that's the C&CC for you.  Much more laid back in their site rules. Their attitude is that the site is there for the benefit of their members and the Site Managers go out of their way to make everybody feels welcome.

Write your comments here...provided you dont mind being frog marched to an allocated pitch and not having choice.  Or being unable to book 1 night in high season, amend bookings on line, amend bookings by phone etc....  You do however get a choice of HS/Grass
    pitches.

The Temp Holiday Sites are very friendly.

Last proper C&CC site I visited was in April at Moffat. The wardens asked me what kind of pitch I wanted, I replied my usual "as far away from the toilets as possible and the awning facing the afternoon sun".

Showed me to just what I asked for, he then asked me if it was ok because I could go somewhere else if I wanted.

I was quite impressed because some years ago you WERE told what pitch to go onto and no arguments.

Guess they have learned some customer service

Don't go that often to club sites (except in full winter) but not really had problems on either.

Always a bit amused (and bemused) to hear all the weird difficulties some seem to regulary get into.

We will be using two Club Sites in October. I am not anticipating any problems, just an enjoyable time away, for slightly more than we usually pay, but the CLs in between bring our nightly average down nicely! We may pitch nose in, we may not, depends on
    the view!Innocent

nose in or reverse is allowed on the majority of sites (Sandrigham is one where you can't. At Troutbeck head we were told you could pitch either way at the pitching talk

Indeed, but the pitching diagram shows where the awning must go, so that might determine which way round you must pitch, if you intend to use an awning.

See my follow up comment above, which clarifies this.

(I didn't think anyone had used the expression 'balderdash' in the last 100 years Smile)

If nose in awning still goes one side and car 'tother.

I use 'balderdash' when being polite. Happy

It's been discussed many times on here that you can pitch nose in or reverse and and of course theawning goes on the door side, no one with would expect you to put up an anwing on the non door side.

At Sandringham of course this means that on vans with the door on the continental side, you will see awning, van then car, as you look at it, and hence you get awning to awning. Amazingly it causes no problems. At Troubeck head many vans goes nose it and have the awning on the door side.

As most know (its been discussed on CT for years, and even on this thread) there are four pitching diagrams.

Not so, you are only issued with one pitching diagram.

Are you saying that you ignore it?
