Pitching Instruction

I think the answer to that must be "Yes!".

We are a slightly elongated square, without our wind out awning, hence we shall pitch in or out as per our viewing requirements! With any luck, certainly at one site, we hope to have a great deal of space between us and anyone else!
The other site has pitching requirements like no other Club Site, and we shall do exactly as the Wardens ask us to do!

No, Jennine, it is a contest in a barbers to see how many heads he can shave in an hour. Guinness Book of Records stuff!

There are a couple of caravans and motorhome facing the view rather than facing other caravans on the site we are on Treamble Valley in Cornwall. Can't see a problem with any of them. If it was me I would put my caravan in nose front to have the view.

Happens all over the network, with awnings on the door side. While only one diagram on display a number on here have seen the four pitching diagrams that show this, see page 5. It was also discussed in a club magazine once

Of course CC site staff could come out of the office and direct new arrivals to their pitch. They would then ensure that the pitching rules were complied with in real time. So everybody on site would be pitched in accordance with the CC on site rules.

I find this an irritating practice with the CCC and would not be keen to see the CC take this up. Most people dont need this so to waste warden's time for the sake of the few who do seems silly.

We will be using two Club Sites in October. I am not anticipating any problems, just an enjoyable time away, for slightly more than we usually pay, but the CLs in between bring our nightly average down nicely! We may pitch nose in, we may not, depends on
the view!nose in or reverse is allowed on the majority of sites (Sandrigham is one where you can't. At Troutbeck head we were told you could pitch either way at the pitching talk
...There is no problem at Sandringham either there were several this year when we were there

As per the rules you can enquiresyoies about pitching differently, Worth asking but it may be down to the specific pitch whether your request is possible mind. It's all down to wardens using their knowlege and discression but of course only when those 'gaps'
remain correct.0 -
As I have said before (but not quite as forcefully), use pegs to mark the gaps and let people pitch however they want between them.

Perfect solution Nav - so the CC will definitely not do that!! Allows individuality whilst maintaining safety.

As per the CC HQ directive you can pitch nose in or nose out. This makes no difference to gaps/safety at all.

planned properly.. There would be no need to bother the Warden staff with requests for different pitching arrangements. After all -The wardens have enough to do cleaning the lavatories, cutting the grass, maintaining the cleanliness of the service points and taking the money. Etc..

We pride ourselves on having the intelligence and understanding of the needs and safety of other users, not to need someone else to "nanny" us onto a pitch. We read the suggested rules, listen to the Club staff advice, use our 30 years experience, and let
them get on with helping those who may require more help, or keep the site nice for all users.0 -
If you are on the end of a row, or you are next to a service point, then there is no health and safety issue with regard to spacing so you should (but probably wont be) allowed to pitch with your van right across to the 'blind' side away from your one neighbour,
if you want to surely. You would be increasing the safety gap if anything.0 -
With a bit of luck, we are hoping big site we are visiting might have a few quiet spots, particularly on grass areas, away from most users. But being in MH, there will be days where we only sleep on pitch.

...What do you do at night then?

Because on our N+B Arto,s awning is on the off side of the vehicle sometimes they ask you to drive on forwards which really annoys me .We don't go on holiday to stare at the hedge.I just reverse on and up to now no one has said anything, and we stay on 12
or more CC sites a year.Brian & Jo

We too have hab door and sun canopy on off side. I've never been told to drive on but have been given the option to. Sometimes the view is better on some pitches when driving on and the suncanopy pulls out where car would have been.

4.5 b. The Site Staff will advise you where your outfit should go in relation to the marker. If you wish to pitch in any other way please ask the Site Staff.
Exactly so!
They do this by giving you the clear instructions on the site plan when you arrive, telling you how to pitch.
Car / caravan / awning when looking from the front of the pitch.
This may determine which way round you point your caravan, if you want to put up an awning on your door side.
Couldn't be simpler!

Nothing wrong with the CC method of pitching Car/caravan/awning --- If somebody has a continental van , just go in nose first. Its straightforward and sensible. .
I support the CC on site rules as written......None of this discretion nonsense .

Isn't it interesting that folk who are so keen to quote that rule regarding pitching word for word have often have difficulty adopting the same approach towards departure times, as detailed on page 275 of the current handbook!
Fortunately, we've had no difficulties pitching or agreeing a departure time at the CL we've stayed on this week.

I thought that this topic had been put to bed. Jill with a Jay had an email from the club which she has quoted a number of times which said that, with the exception of Sandrigham, you could pitch either nose in or out. She suggested having a hard copy of
this to show to wardens who insisted otherwise.0
