Arrival & Departure Times
I understand that Rookesbury Park is changing it's earliest arrival time to 1pm "in the interest of safety with it's single track approach" I do hope it also insists all departures to be by 12noon otherwise not much point. This weekend I noticed lots of
outfits leaving after 12, even on it's website it notes you may be able to stay later the noon but if after 4pm a fee may be required.

I hope other sites dont follow suit. I can see the logic of having a gap but would prefer all off by 11am and on at 12.

What about people already on site who want to go out for the day - or just to the shops? Would they not be allowed to leave after noon or return before it?
There has been consideraable discussion on another forum about a site where the wardens refused to allow new arrivals to book in before noon, and ended up causing a long queue the site road.
Also agree with BMB

Omlettes and eggs spring to mind. Once all wardens refused to allow admittance to the site before the stated time, and just told people to go away and come back later - taking down registrations as well possibly - everyone would quickly learn there
was no point in arriving before arrival time.Using the club's own 'disciplinary' email system (as per late cancellations/no shows) for early arrivals would also be effective. Maybe a 10 minute tolerance but certainly no more.

Cutting short the weekend stay by yet another hour? If you finish work at 5 on Fri, get on site at 6 or 7 and have to go by 11 on the Sunday, it makes a weekend away at a CC site hardly seem worth it.

I have trouble with early arrivals at my shop , we open at 9am but some people queue outside at 8.30 and I have to go and tell them to move and come back at 9, they block the path
Have you ever thought about opening earlier and closing earlier - in other words cater to the needs of your customers!

Most club site information leaflets mention a possible later departure is possible ,but that is as written in the rules, because being a club ,the system is there for the Majority of members not the few that may at some time have been "upset"

when deciding whether to let outfits stay past 12, the wardens will look at the number of arrivals v number of departures. If there would be a problem regarding late departures they wouldn't allow you to stay.
Is this
Sunday departures part 2?
Sunday Departure reloaded?
Sunday Departures the sequel?

Suggest taking an extra day off work then. All workers are entitled to holidays, by law.

Yes, thankfully site specific knowledge will and does continue to dictate such things!

Queue not caused by wardens but by those turning up early. I just don't get it. Why don't people stick by the rules. Pure selfishness.

2 massive big pits, anybody who arrives before 12 is allowed on site, through the barriers and drops them into a black hole that then sends them to a site miles away, late leavers, down the exit pit only to return the following year after doing club together
hard labour that should sort em!0 -
Exactly......all off by 12!
(or better still, 11)
I don't want to be getting up before 10am as I am on holiday.

The major concernis not car & M/Hs going out for the day, or whatever, who don't have a problem reversing, but two or more caravans meeting coming in &/or out at the same time and then major hold-up forming, which the exacerbates the problem.

but as said many times, not everyone is on flexi-time and have to work around the other people they work with

It seems to me as though the CC is trying to introduce leave at 12, arrive 1 pm, by the back door. These times have been introduced at several sites for quite dubious reasons. Yes there may be a short narrow lane, but with reasonable passing places. Plus
it should certainly not take an hour to clear traffic. Personally I think they were getting access problems because folk were turning up at 11 / 11:30, so rather than start strictly enforcing this and letting the word get out, they have taken the easy option
of an hour gap. This will generally mean no one will turn up before 12 noon, so problem solved.0 -

Unusually I agree with you
Indeed we are all different. I usually get up about 6.30. If not up before 7am I feel that I am missing the day. Yep I know it sounds daft.

We arrived at Rookesbury Park last week about 12.30hrs and yes we met 2 vans leaving the site! The warden told us that due to selfish people the club had decided to change the arrival time to 1300hrs. Come on folk the departure time is shown around the
site so for once in your life please think about other people!0 -
If, as I have suggested before, members had to place a credit card on record, a penalty fee could be applied to unauthorised late departures/no shows.

So rather than do their job and enforce the rules, they take the easy option of inconveniencing paying customers.
The C&CC have gone down this route and received a massive amount of (well deserved) criticism. I suspect that they will be changing to 11am departures and 12 noon arrivals next year.

I worked, I wasn't on flexi-time, I had to work around other staff......and I took extra days off to get a proper break.

I was on flexi time for the last 10 years of my working life. However, the office still had to be manned for the core hours, and not everybody could flex the other hours at the same time. So you still had to work around others, secure agreements etc. So
little difference really.0 -

That suggestion gets my vote (again) CY. It should suit the folk who don't want deposits and also keep those who bemoan the lack of penalties for no shows/late cancellations happy.
Now, are we going to have to let this thread run for 16000+ posts since it seems to me to be Sunday Departures by the back door. Deja vue, all over again!

Would you get a rebate for when you can't get on site until 7 or 8 on arrival day?

Rookesbury Park is,I believe, frequently used as a stop prior to catching the ferry over to France. That certainly was the reason I used the site several times in the past. I sometimes got the overnight ferry and booked an extra night on site so that I could
stay till early evening. The site staff were aware of this as I advised them of my departure time on arrival and on at least two occasions they waived the extra nights charge. Any time I was there I was certainly not the only unit leaving late afternoon/ early
evening, I'm assuming that these units, had like myself either paid for an extra night or at least had the wardens consent.Changing the arrival time by an hour is not going to prevent arrivals meeting any paid for late departures.
