Parking by the peg
I recently fell foul of the "marker rules" I had parked with the wrong corner of my MH adjacent to the peg (I had not been told otherwise). Had I had a caravan and parked with the rear OFFSIDE adjacent to the peg and then parked the car where the MH was
all would have been OK. . My thoughts are that instead of one peg on a pitch there should be TWO then ALL vehicles/caravans to be parked between the two pegs. What do you think?

The two pegs would need to be just wide enough to fit your unit into so would be pointless.
It doesn't matter which way around you pitch - either O/S rear to the peg, or N/S front to the peg. It's all about keeping a 6m gap between facing walls of cvans/MHs.

I have seen caravans / motorhomes parked the wrong side of the peg. I have to say that I did wonder how anyone could make that mistake. I assumed that they must have done it deliberately for some strange reason.
Of course, the warden staff don't tell them to move.

Example.....on a CC site recently, two caravans arrive together and manage to find two adjacent pitches.
One pitches correctly on the peg but appears to be having a problem with his jockey wheel or something.
His mate pitches on completely the wrong side of the peg, right on the edge of his pitch, near to his mate. He then parks his car on the opposite edge of the pitch and proceeds to put up his awning in the gap in the middle.
Warden comes along, may or may not have said something (if he did, it was ignored) but then chats to the other bloke about his jockey wheel.
Now clearly the 'safe spacing' thing must be compromised here. I did wonder whether they had said that jockey-wheel man wasn't using an awning, so there wasn't a spacing issue. But the next day, up goes his awning - with only the grass strip (2 metres maybe) separating his awning from his mate's caravan.
So why didn't the warden just tell the guy on the wrong side of the peg to position his caravan like he was told when he booked in?
Is there a warden on here who could offer an explanation?

Instead of the 'offside to the peg' why dont the club just put pegs in with an arrow on them showing which side the unit goes?? This avoids the 'front in' debate and also, when most CC sites access roads are one way, the peg can be placed on the nearside
on the pitches on one side of the road, so you can actually see it when reversing on!0 -
Grrr! This regimented peg business is another reason why I migrated to CL's. There you can usually park any which way you want,- I have to take my instructions from the DCOS.
Nevertheless I appreciated the reason, and will always abide by the 6 metre rule. But on CL's it hardly ever is an issue- 20 metres is very often the case!

Never had a problem parking to the peg. Might not get the motorhome spot on everytime but I can't recall ever being more than a foot out. So the suggestion is a solution to a problem I don't have and would simply increase workload and cost - marginally.
It could be done because we all park within the lines in a car park so if there is enough demand, I'm not going to grumble about it.0 -
Yes, I too won't go any site which has pegs, however many and however spaced.
I had a happy time this summer on a site with 50 metre spacing and another with only 2 metres - just a hedge between us and the pleasant people next door - their awning faced one way and my canopy faced the other. No pegs, no dinky cars, no instructions

Some people don't like to conform to rules, their attitude is why should I, some people obviously go around the sites checking if everyone and their mates are conforming, some don't like the rules so go else where And then there are people like me, if that's the rule that's what I'll do, if I don't like it I won't stay again simple. It makes alsorts

We were spending our last day in France on la bien assise campsite near Calais. As we relaxed outside our van one of the receptionists shot along the nearby road followed at a distance by a nice clean and shiny brit moho. The driver was gritting his teeth
trying to keep up; (it intrigues me just how fast the girls can get those golf buggies to go, but that’s another story). As is their way she waved and pointed in the general direction of a pitch spun the buggy around and was off in the blink of an eye.The driver carefully manoeuvred near the pitch and his passenger got out to look it over. She wandered around and around and I realised she was looking for a peg. Nothing found the driver joined her and the hunt resumed. I got another G&T. Still there
was no peg so he was despatched to reception to get help. The buggy with receptionist and camper returned at speed; he looked terrified. The pitch number was pointed out arms were waived and the buggy accelerated away. I got another G&T. The driver reversed
on to grass and then took counsel from a Dutch camper opposite. Not satisfied with the reply he trotted over to me. Which way should he park and where, there is no peg, we are CC Ltd members there is always a peg? I explained the choice was theirs. Finally
the cent dropped but then the moho dance began. I got another G&T. This way then that way, no not that way, forward and back, reverse in, drive in, your too close to this side, the sun is that way, but finally they settled. Does CC Ltd realise how traumatised
their members can become when there is no peg? Should they add no peg pitching to their training courses?I think the lesson here is to always have a G&T handy to give to traumatised CC members.

...Thinking about whether your post was seriose ,with all the comments about prices on one hand and no pitches available on the other

Life's too short to worry about pegs and inch perfect pitching, but happily for most we don't do Club Sites in the Summer. Each to there own, ours is a quiet, relaxed CL with lots of room. Preferably half a mile to next door neighbour!
