its silly because side to side they have to be 6m but end to end the rows are really close, often less than a metre away and a lot of vans have end kitchens so gas to the very end part. i like a big pitch but i like to be able to put up my awning where i want and a windbreak. if we go with friends we like to join the two vans with the windbreaks so there is a kids and dogs play area in the middle. on commerical sites we can do this - and book two pitches next to each other - wish club sites were as user friendluy
I would say a few vans have end kitchens, and those will be small 2 berth vans or smaller MHs.
Never been within 1metre of another outfit, back to back, on a CC site

I think you are a bit unsure of pitching because unless you can enlighton us there will not be a cc site that you will be 1mtr appart are you sure it was in the UK
It is a valid point thought, that the back of a van and the back of the van on the pitch behind may well be very much closer than 6m.
Seem to remember the "corner to corner" requirement between rows of vans is 3 metres?

as in my case a few months ago
At Wharfedale there are quite a few pitches back to back which, although I haven't measured the exact distance, I doubt is 6m. Same at Hawes, those are two sites that come to mind at the moment.

The sun goes over the van the wrong way so I need to pitch at a different angle. My hookup lead is too short so I have moved closer to my bollard. I want to go broadside on for a better view. I want to be closer to my friend. We want more privacy so
moved further from next door. No one told us we had to be on the peg. I didnt understand the peg part of the booking in. It changes site to site. You are the only site that insists on this way of pitching. Its always been peg in the middle of the caravan.

On many other sites this is allowed so if people are used to a more relaxed pitching ethic then CC with its regimentation may well come as a shock to them..
In an ideal site pitches would be 6m apart then you could pitch any which way you liked as long as you were within the confines of your pitch.

so vans corner to corner dont creat a fire hazard - that is hard to believe.
excuses says the warden that is typical warden to call it that and want everyone exactly how they want it

Write your comments here...I quite agree, but some folk will always buck against what they see as restrictive rules, while others see the same rules as pure common sense, proved to protect lives, by experience. The excuse of My ehu lead is too short so i moved closer to the bollard....is a treasure. ALL CC bollards are within 25 meters of the pitch they supply. Nearly all EHU Leads for sale are 25 meters long. Get a proper lead !

i moved closer to the bollard....is a treasure. ALL CC bollards are within 25 meters of the pitch they supply. Nearly all EHU Leads for sale are 25 meters long. Get a proper lead !I have been on a CC pich where the bolard was around 35 metres, had to borrow a cable from warden and extend. Also I have been on sites where even passing the cable under the caravan instead of going round I only had less than 1m spare. Generally I agree

And the other one is - well if you tell me where to pitch then I'll just pitch somewhere else even if it offers me no advantage at all, because I won't be told what to do.
Quite pathetic - just pitch where you are supposed to pitch, for goodness sake!

If club sites were like this then there would be no need for pegs

To be honest AD, I thought that was a Club Site. We have been on one or two that have had spacious awning pitches. We were on a section of Tredegar Park where pitches were large, our little MH looked very lost. It was November and quiet, so lots of pitch

Interesting to see this, looks quite nice. We usually use Much Wenlock, but of course that closes for good at end of this season, so this could prove a nice alternative, although being an AS we shall check on prices. Would be a Winter visit, if it stays

Yes, just had a look. Thought it might be a Morris Leisure site. Middle of November for us would be £26.50, so although nice, wouldn't be for us. A bit further East as well than I thought. We could find a cottage for a week cheaper than this at that time
of year. Nice to see a photo though.0 -
That picture shows exactly why people need to pitch correctly.
If people on adjacent pitches chose to belligerently pitch on the edge of their pitches (and the warden ignored it, as they usually do) then they would, I'd guess, be less than 2 metres apart.
