Just been on a club site. New 15 plate motorhome parked up,

1st day it goes out and leaves the mains plug on the ground and pluged in. We disconnected it for safety.

2nd Day motorhomer goes out, its raining, again leaves the plug on the ground connected. We disconnected it and left a waterproof note telling him of the dangers and refering to the clubs reccomendations !!!

3rd day Motorhomer goes out and this time has decided putiing the still connected plug under a hedge will surfice. We give up.

Yes we know there are MCB/RCCD units at the post but they can become faulty and even so there not there to protect stupid motorhome owners from such daft acts. Will they never learn or are they Gods Gift !!!!!

The real big concern is that the Wardens must have passed the pitch at least 5 times each day but clearly did not want to get involved or even do a responsible job of advising the motorhome owner. Mind the pitch had 3 young kids under 5 (just the sort who
stick fingers into everthing) so they clearly did not care about safety. No doubt if something had happened it would have been everyones fault other than theirs.

There are some people who should not be let out by themselves, whether thay are motrhomers, caravanners , campers or the public at large. However Wayne and Jude have brought a very valid point.

It is a valid point, but then again W&J has never made a post that didn't criticise someone or something.

To be honest, I've seen this happen a number of times on sites when m/homers go out for the day or drive round to the M/H service point.

    My philosophy is --

If it doesn't affect me, it's none of my business.

If somebody wants to play russian roulette with a live 240 volt mains cable just let them get on with it.

Maybe this was the type of EHU where pushing the button causes the plug to rotate and disconnects the supply. I've left ours plugged in many a time but have pushed the button so the  lead is not live.

Have W&J considered this or simply chosen to complain on a forum by suggesting MH-ers are all the same?

But come on fair play, they might have pressed the disconect button so no probs, you know the ones where you push in and turn.

I'd never dream of leaving a cable on the pitch - it might not be there when we get back!

Not when it's got bits of insulating tape wrapped around it looking decidedly down at heel.

Perhaps that's the answer to not getting it pinched, wrap insulating tape of different colours around a perfectly good lead, with a few loose cores sticking out for realism Happy

I'd better go now before I get an Email like ADP for inserting humour. Innocent

Some sites are notorious for thefts AD, such as Clumber, but it isn't usually other members or visitors, just opportunists living close by making the most of soft targets, lots of things left out.

Maybe this was the type of EHU where pushing the button rotates the plug and disconnects the power.

Write your comments here...we often do this, leaving the cable in situ, ready to be plugged into the van, then switched on, or if it is NOT a push button disconnect type, i unlug it and leave it hanging over the bollard, ready to be replugged, no danger at all, unless someone tampers with it.  And always leave our Motorhome using this pitch sign by the site peg. Never had any problems.

Have heard about bike thefts there quite often but would have thought its a special case  but caps off Aquarolls sound very much like  other campers

Write your comments here...yes, I hadn't thought about that. Only thing we have ever had go missing was a water carrier, without the cap, from a CL. CL owner thought it had probably been stolen by someone looking to use it for stealing fuel from somewhere
else, a random opportunist. We haven't missed it.

When we stay down near Marazion, we often walk through Threeways Marazion Club Site on the footpath to the woods that runs straight through the site. Astonishing amount of seriously expensive kit left lying around, especially as this is such a remote little site. We have stayed a few times ourselves, never heard of anything going missing though. Which is good.Happy

It would be interesting to know how many fatalities have occured due to unattended live leads if any, not long ago I was on a four star site on the outskirts of Paris where many of the hook ups consisted of just that, a lead sprouting out of the ground with a live cee 16a blue socket on the end and no weather protection whatsoever.

Trust me Mark, they are just stirring the pot! Warden bashing, generally disparaging of other Club Site users, happens on a regular basis!
