Broadway - Part 2

I've just noticed that you've posted this thread Wherenext. What I think this episode demonstrates is the need for members to become actively involved in the running of the Club. We all get notifications of Management meetings but I bet not many attend, That seems the only venue to take up members concerns about issues such as this.
One has to ask what motivated Savills to make the claims they made in the original submission. They must have been fed that information from somewhere. Alternatively, if it was a fiction on their part in order to strengthen the submission to the local authority then I would suggest it is highly unprofessional however big a company this is.

Further to my OP I am now enclosing a copy of an email sent today to the club asking for clarification on a number of points. Let us hope we get a full explanation but I wouldn't put any money on it.
"First of all thank you for getting back to me. However your letter doesn’t allay all of my concerns as your explanation leaves many questions unanswered. The main ones being:1. I assume that Savills are acting on behalf of the CC. If so I cannot imagine that they would unilaterally decided to include OUR sites in applications for turning them into housing. If they did take these decisions by themselves then what action is
the CC taking against them?2. Assuming that they did not make these decisions on their own then who at the CC authorised Savills to include them?3. If someone in a senior position at the CC did indeed make this decision then who did that person consult and why were the members of this club not canvassed for their opinions? I do understand that members cannot be consulted about the day to day running
of the CC otherwise it would grind to a halt. However, the proposed selling off of Prime Location Sites would upset so many members that this decision should have been thrown open to let us air our views.4. How many other sites apart from the three sites mentioned are there that have been put forward? I think the members do need to know. The above are the most important questions that spring to mind but not the only ones.I do feel that this episode shows the club in a very shabby light.I now await your reply."

The person I wrote to did send an automated email stating that she was away from the office until today. I assume she will have to seek guidance to either answer my questions or refuse to divulge anything further. So I am not anticipating an urgent reply
but don't intend to just forget matters. I'll let people know if I do receive anything and I assume other members will have written expressing their anger and will do likewise should they receive anything from the club.0 -
I received a phone call today in response to my recent emails.
The CC representative confirmed that they have received reassurances from Savills that they have rectified the position of the CC for all sites that were erroneously included in planning applications for housing developments with the relevant planning departments.
It would appear that the CC did not actually put these sites forward as indicated by Savills and that "the appropriate discussions between the CC and Savills have now taken place" (I paraphrase).
She could not confirm that there were more than 3 sites but did not deny it either. I'm not sure she knows.
It was agreed that the CC have not covered themselves in glory and that there was a good argument to be made about the poor response to members concerns.
I can't see the point of pursuing this any further unless more errors from Savills come to light. Please feel free to write to the club if you feel the need.
I will try to answer any query regarding my communications with the CC that CT members require.

Thank you Wherenext for all your work, regarding this. It's good to know we won't be losing these sites anytime soon.

Thanks for your efforts Wherenext.
However, what a shockingly poor response!
So Savilles just simply put forward 3 CC sites to three separate planning authorities, for no reason and without any discussion with the Club? Perhaps they were having a slow afternoon and just did it for a laugh?
Seriously, the Club really need to do much, much better.......

Maybe the son/brother/sister/daughter/wife/husband of someone at the CC works for Savil's!!

Still no comment from the CC on this very important issue.
Mention a topic in the wrong category and they will be all over you like a rash........
Write your comments here...Our chance will come at the AGM, now I know not many members go, BUT I think this year WE SHOULD. To let the powers that be, know the strength of opinion against the selling of the freehold, of some of the Club's Prime sites. It's up to us.
