Excessive site charges

We have recently seen the CC trying to sell off at least three of our sites......selling the family jewels springs to mind. This downward spiral will continue unless / untill we demand more realistic pricing on CC sites and greater efficiency within the organisation as a whole.
What three sites are you suggesting they are trying so very hard to sell off?

it does seem that some are just on here to make as many complaints against the club as possible.
Just done a quick trawl through the summer and most sites are already filling up, some are alreadymostly full
But once again you don't have to go to club sites, but it seems that many people are

In answer to the op......the reason that CC prices are so high is because they are not terribly efficient and have a huge head office overhead to pay for.
They are rather old fashioned and appear to still believe that, if they just keep putting up prices, they will increase profits. It doesn't work like that, because people shop around and find cheaper sites to use. Hence the empty CC sites mid week and out
of season.(Yes, their sites may be full over Easter......so are virtually all sites. That does not change my point).
Once people have realised that there is life outside the CC (the organisation they probably joined when they first bought a caravan or m/h, because it was the 'done thing') then they will keep using other sites......it becomes a steady but inevitable decline.
Some on this forum will not hear anything said against the CC and will keep paying the ever increasing prices. Whilst this appears on the surface to be supportive of the CC, unfortunately they are, in the long term, contributing to its demise.

< sigh >
And that's supposed to mean what????

Have you not read Broadway and Broadway2, Micky? CC appear to be acting with, at best, great incompetence.

"Some on this forum will not hear anything said against the CC and will keep paying the ever increasing prices"
And some will jump on the "criticise anything and everything about the CC" bandwagon! Both extremes are equally ridiculous (IMHO)!

Its the suggestion that there are at least three that I'm questioning!

That's because there has been no confirmation from the CC of how many sites they are promoting for redevelopment and Nick Lomas referred to a handful in his statement.
I've only found three but chances are there will be more. I can think of at least another 6 that would be worth a punt if that's the way the CC feel they want to go

Micky, Cadeside & Minehead are the other two site that make up the 3, although there may be others that have not yet come to light.

Cheers, Jay, you explained it better than I could.

Well, I'm glad that I don't fall into either of those catagories then.......

Have to agree as some complaints are so trivial as to be just stupid. I do try to support the club where I can and criticise when I think they are wrong although a lot of what appears on here is opinion rather than fact.

Back to "excessive" site charges. Another example to throw into the mix. For us (2 adults & 2 dogs) 7 nights, starting 4 April (still school holidays round here) - Tewkesbury Abbey club site £142.40, but the much praised Morris Leisure just down the road
at Ludlow £223 even with CC discount. So over a tenner more a night!0 -
Save your cash Moulesy, there is a gorgeous CL a few hundred yards from Ludlow site! Dogs are free, and very welcome, great walks as well!

stangely, M, OH and i could be parked next door to you at (much praised) Ludlow and only be paying £192.50
as the vast majority of campers do so without dogs, you must keep your examples free from bias
i assume you only have two little darlings....?
Oh dear ... ignoring the (yet again) rather patronising tone of your last line BB ...
I was making the comparison "for us" - how can that be biased?
As for "the vast majority of campers do so without dogs",
it's good to see a bit of realism on CT after all the post about sites being positively overrun with dogs on another tread!0 -

Haven't visited Ludlow for some years now, ttda. What's the name of the CL? Might be worth us having a look.

BB knows it Moulesy, went for a look round a couple of years ago, and owners queried who was on property! Although I think got a better reception on second look around if I recall correctly? It is Hucks Barn, recommended to us by Nellie. Lovely place, huge
orchard, pitches are HS or grass, you choose, although HS drive only goes up so far. Straight out onto a packhorse track into Mortimer Forest. Brilliant for dogs. I did a review after our stay. Can walk into Ludlow, although if using road it is a narrow walkway
and we wouldn't do it with dogs.0 -
M .as most know, there are one or two who post on here with any excuse to make out that the fees charged through the year by the cc are exorbitant compared to what ever they do,but always fail to compare the same places at peak times that are more exorbitantly priced than the cc when most people will no option but to use them

It's not that steep, although I suppose coming from Yorkshire 'tis but a hop up for us. Agree re ground though, but a decent 4x4 would make it ok in all seasons. We got MH onto grass pitches no problem.

Drat, just liked your post instead of pressing quote BB!
I'm not sure why me replying to you is "defensive" but hey ho...!
Still, I'm not sure why you think my comparison of prices, "like for like" ( for us) is biased any more than your frequent comparisons, presumably for your MH and 2 adults, are?
