All I want is bookable HS to be honest. Without that I'm going to be tough to persuade

Not quite sure how one fills a site from Monday to Thursday off season. I'm retired and would not dream of hitching up to drive say 60 miles or more for a few days break. If I take the caravan out I generally want more time away once it is off the drive.
If it were £10 a night it would not tempt me personally.We often stay Monday to Friday and drive further than 60 miles. Although we are retired there are other things we need to be doing.

If it were £10 a night it would not tempt me personally.However somethink like that would work for us as we would try and fit it such a site into one of our Autumn/Winter trips, as we are generally away for 7-10 wks at a time.

I suppose most of us are frustrated at the way the cc works- no trying new systems, different price structures even as an experiment.Seems to be " we have always done it thisway" regardless of the changes within the industry. In the end we vote with our

feet.The Club did experiment with booking hardstandings and not many of us liked the result of that one!!! With prices and discounts like the mid week discount it seems a bit hap hazard in the way it is applied. Perhaps if we understood the thinking behind it
we might more readily accept it but the Club are not renown for explaining things in detail?David

I am generally happy with CC sites. When we are on tour they seem well used between early April and end of September. When we are away for the last two weeks in December the site we use at Southport does seem to have less users than previously.

spring for a fortnight for £112. I asked the owner how he could do it at such a price and he said at the beginning of the season he and his staff where preparing the site for the new season. If the staff were there then the park may as well be open. He charged
the low price to attract custom. It worked, when we were there the site was approx 3/4 full.Incidentally I got the site out of the club Magazine. Slightly ironic I think.

We learned quickly, and were in the happy position of being able to buy a small motorhome. Kept on drive, ready to roll, we have even done South Wales and back in four days!
Travel days are doing days. So reduced midweek prices for us are great, Club does some cracking bargains at this time of year if you search them out

We are out at the moment, arrived at Berwick Seaview yesterday at 13.15. Site is about half full, folk went this morning, new ones arrived. Pretty even split between caravans and motor homes. Weather is beautiful, cold wind but blue skies and sunny, cost
£53.10 for 3 nights. Moving on to Whitley Bay for the weekend, then it shuts for the season. Sites are full for the following weekend that we were thinking of going to, so will have to hope for a cancellation or look elsewhere. MW, would help with the Monday
to Thursday, but it needs to be more than what's currentley on offer.0 -
We like Whitley Bay. I'm a happy bunny, we have just got third night we needed at Bolton Abbey, so a nice four day break for us, later in month. It's as cheap as the CL we were considering, and has the advantage of direct access to Strid Woods and Bolton
Abbey walks, so we won't have to pay to park MH up, can walk straight from site. That's saved us around £8!TG, as an alternative to Berwick Seaview, take a look at West Kyloe Farm. Small private site, with a bit of hardstanding, clean toilets and showers. Location to die for, views and peace and quiet, close to Lindisfarne. We paid £15 with our MH.

Don't book it on the basis of Lindisfarne Castle though. I read that the castle is closed for 18 months for repairs.

Write your comments here...BUT if you look for high season 2 adults plus 2 kids and a dog its £52 a night!!!! This does reduce down to £48 if you book a fortnight though!!

Yes just checked my app, closed until April 2018. Although the Gertrude Jekyll garden, lime kilns and shop are still open. At the right time of the year the garden is well worth a visit and the lime kilns at anytime. Plus of course
there is the priory, although only open weekends till February.0 -
TTDA, thanks for the site recommendation, I love this area only 3 hrs from home, so very doable for short breaks.
Cyber, yes, saw it on the local news last night, they were removing arts from the castle to storage. Just love walking around here when the weather is nice its a good place to be, fish and chips ain't bad either

Three hours for us as well TG, but coming up the other way!
There's a decent CL close to the mainland end of the Lindisfarne causeway as well, Brock Mill Farm. No loos or showers, but nice.

Apart from cleaning the toilet blocks the site very much looked to run itself.
If the £10 offer is taken up by 50 vans you now have £500 per night thats £7000 for those staying a fortnight and several stayed for longer than that. That a good tidy sum to pay a lot of running costs for little effort.
I think it will be the Caravan Club struggling to pay costs with the very low usage in some of the sites mentioned.
