We are thrilled to announce that a new and improved Club Together forum is due to launch on Thursday 14 November, replacing the old system. To facilitate the installation of the new Club Together forum, the existing forum will be switched off on Monday 11 November 2024. We will also expect a test outage for the forum between 6-7 am on Friday 8 November 2024.

As part of our upgrades, the review system, which is currently paired with Club Together, will also be unavailable on 11 November and will return with a new dedicated Reviews platform on Tuesday, 12 November 2024. This new platform simplifies the review process, making it easier to leave reviews.

These new platforms will enhance members' experience with a more intuitive design and advanced features tested by Club members and existing forum users.

Key Improvements to the forum include:

Improved Usability: Designed for seamless navigation, making it easier for members to engage and participate in discussions.

Enhanced Photo Sharing: Members can now upload and share photos more easily, bringing their travel stories to life.

'Groups' Section: This new feature allows members to join groups based on shared interests, fostering positive connections.

We invite all members to explore the new platform once live and embrace the enhanced capabilities that will enrich our community interactions. Thank you for your unwavering support as we embark on this exciting new chapter. Join us in exploring the new forum where your stories and connections thrive.

Stay tuned for more updates, and we look forward to welcoming our members to this exciting new space!

Sounds like a totally new forum is on the way. I wonder if the wealth of information and advice which has been provided by members over the many years will be retained. I do hope so.

Fasten Seatbelts. We may be in for a bumpy ride. Let's hope not eh? If it improves photo downloading then that in itself would be an upgrade.

Going to miss those stars though.🤫😀

Although some folk thought it was doomed, it’s good to know CAMC is committed to keeping a forum. 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

These new platforms will enhance members' experience with a more intuitive design and advanced features tested by Club members and existing forum users.

This seems to imply that some testing has been carried out. Anyone asked to participate?

However, it’s what we have been requesting for ages. Hopefully it will run a lot more smoothly than the current system and that the enhanced photos will reduce themselves, if required,  rather than having to use an App.

"This seems to imply that some testing has been carried out. Anyone asked to participate?"

I think your quoted bit "…..tested by Club members and existing forum users" tells you the answer to that, Steve 🙂

Well………I found myself with a bit of time on my hands a few weeks ago, so decided to give it a trial run😁 Can’t comment on what the finished new version will look like, or consist of in terms of content, but certainly the trial was very interesting, and very different to this. No idea what the finished version will be like.

I always like something new and if it doesn't work - blame the testers?

I'm expecting lots of new and good things.

I’m actually quite optimistic that a new version will be a lot better than what we have now. What we have now (forum wise) is the worst I’ve ever encountered when it comes to reliability and functionality.

Rowena - am I correct in assuming "members" refers to forum members and includes non-club members such as myself and the 3 non club members who have contributed above?

Although I only post occasionally these days I do still read the forum and would miss keeping in touch with folk.

As others have said it is very different, but dont know what the final version is like. Range of people were involved in the "trial". Personally there were things about the new version I liked, and things I didnt. I expect that will be the same for every one who regularly uses forums (forii?) including this one.

My thought entirely, apart from booking a couple of CS's and one Club site,I never go on the CCC web site now.

    Rowena

I assume this won't include all the old threads where the original post and comments have been deleted? Can't quite remember when but probably around the time of the last major change of the forum many posts were deleted but the original starting post was left. I don't know how easy it would be to sort these from current threads? Many show as deleted and moved but they still appear in the forum listing. Would I be right in thinking that such threads would not be moved over to the new forum?

One would hope that at least the "Sticky" threads will be saved if existing content removed David. A lot of valuable information in those.

Totally agree but there are also many empty threads across the forum which would be a bit pointless moving over to a new forum. Perhaps the separation can't be done? I do wonder that the threads that show as deleted and removed whilst showing are not really there and wouldn't move across anyway?

Why would anyone unless they want to look something up? Theirs was the most user unfriendly forum I’ve ever encountered.

It's good to see CAMC isn’t following C&CC's lead.

Yes, non-members will still be able to post and are welcome on the forum as we appreciate Club Together has been a great resource for people looking to start caravanning and motorhoming or to keep in touch with the community if for whatever reason they no longer tour. You will still be able to identify members and non-members on the new forum.

We may introduce some member only areas in the future but this will likely be around Club discussions and subjects that directly affect members.

I think people will like the new features, I was certainly impressed with the way that photos can be posted without having to resize them outside of CT (I would suspect everyone was expecting that) and there are lots of other improvements assuming these are in the final released version.

I was also invited to the new forum and agree photos will be easier to do and hope all goes ok and no issues like the old one.

Quite a discussion on one of the "faux" Club Facebook Groups. Someone, who I think is a Club warden posted the announcement. Some seemed unaware that CT existed as a forum, whilst others love to bring up the worst of CT even if they are harking back in time. Lets hope some of those that seem to spend hours on Facebook make time to at least have a look at the new forum? Some don't quite seem to get the idea that CT is a resource for all members ( retired or otherwisewink)

I'm sure folk will find photos easier to post...  one this things which puts me off posting photos is the necessity to resize.... I always end up with different versions of the same photo on my phone/Google Drive.

Like anything that's different, it will take a little time to get used too it, but it'll be fine.  I'm sure folk will find it an improvement.

....I've seen the FB thing too, but have tried to avoid getting involved. It won''t be too long now before folk will soon be able to see the new CT for themselves. 🙂

Photo posting was excellent, very easy to resize, move about the posting area a bit, add more photos. Personally, I found it a vast improvement on how this forum works, it worked well with an open mind and a good bit of exploring. Some really good features.
