It's all very well people suggesting the Club should put site refurbishments on hold but in doing so it wouldn't mean lower prices because I doubt the Club would subsidise pitch prices. OK on an unrefurbished site the prices are unlikely to be as high as after the refurbishment but the whole point of spending money on sites is to provide a better mix of pitches and improved site facilities which will increase the customer base for that site. I have not been to the refurbished Clumber Park yet but have stayed at Morn Hill which had a big makeover last year and improved it out of all recognition. Clearly there is a demand for serviced pitches otherwise the Club wouldn't waste the money on providing them?

The trouble with delay in refurbishing sites is that it builds up a backlog which becomes more difficult to clear the more you delay. The commercial sector is not standing still in improving their own sites and I am sure the Club would not want to fall behind.

I came back from Lady Margret's refurbish site yesterday, fast track system did not work for us, 100% of the site electric bollards have been replaced ( probably for metering) and 2 new 7 kWh EV charging points, these are are slowing charging point not the faster more expensive 22 kWh + units, to charge you have to input 10kWh blocks of £6.08 , 20kWh £12.12, 30kWH £18.20.

That 60.8 pence a kWh, will metering pitches be the same?

Going by the night we spent there the HGVs are all night long, the motorbikes were until late, then started early morning. They seemed to scream past the site, there is a bit of a hill going past the site so they reved up as they go past.

The site was full so it must be a popular one, if you were on the upper tier with the trees between you and the road it might be OK. The main part of the site is open most of it h/s not sure where the grass pitches are.

Certainly wouldn't stay again, OH can sleep through anything, once he removes his hearing aids he rarely hears anything yet even he said never again and he used to sleep on the back deck of a Chieftain tank in his army days.

The trouble with that is that the opportunity to acquire new sites probably only occurs infrequently and if the Club don't act at the time the opportunity could be lost forever. We seem to be losing as many sites as we acquire new ones and the Club need to maintain a certain ratio between members/pitches. You may not want "fancy pitches" but many do and I can't see the Club investing in those sorts of pitches if the take up was poor.

On your election point I don't think those that put themselves up for election are allowed to canvas for votes so it always means we are voting blind. That is the reason I won't vote in any of the elections as I don't see the point. At any local or general election I have a pretty good idea what each candidate stands for and I can make a decision accordingly. The same is not true of Club elections.

In answer to your question, who knows? But the club will be charged a commercial rate and that will be passed on to us, the customer if sites instal meters countrywide.

Interestingly we are currently on a CL which increased its price in September as their commercial farm deal fell due for renewal then. They have posted a copy of their rates as applied by one of the largest energy suppliers and at the moment are charging a flat rate per night but they have 3 Hardstanding pitches which sit outside the CL perimeter and they charge a flat £10 p.n. plus £0.68 per kWh, which is the unit charge made by their supplier.

At least the differential between CL price of £18 and the charge of £10 + Usage is sufficient for most to make an informed choice.

You’ll only pay at the same rate CAMC pays for its electric. If their price drops, so will the metered price. Also, you’ll only pay for what you use so control is in your hands.

42p is what we've been paying at our static,  but just had an email this morning to say they've signed a new one year contract from November at 29p, so there's a chink for light at the end of the tunnel! smile

Check out 20% spring deal for bookings taken before the end of June. I did and enquired if I would get the reduction in price, having booked our break in January. It is not automatically applied, the booking has to be cancelled then rebooked to get the discount. Although grateful in the present climate I would prefer to have been notified of the discount as a mark of loyalty. At the moment I am mistified at the way things are being run at this club.

According to last nights news, the cost of electricity will fall by 17% from July will we be expecting a fall in site fees to show this do you think (personally I very much doubt it) the club were fast in putting them up stating electricity prices as the reason, will they be as fast in reducing them?

It seems that domestic rates will fall but only back to last year's increased levels.frown (Commercial rates appear to be higher.)

It’s very odd the way it works-when the Russia Ukraine war started the fuel price shot up quickly & continued rising, when the cost of oil/gas started falling back we were told it would stay high because the poor oil companies bought super expensive oil/gas at last years high prices🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

It's a catch 22 with pension investments etc involved, those "on the ground" bear the brunt of it. frown

On the bright side holidays are still with us and the club have reduced some prices.

Maybe the best way to get the club’s attention is through Trust Pilot/ trusted reviews sites as they are quick to respond to your reviews, much quicker that if you contact them directly. More members need to have their say regarding the vast price increases.

I was at Malvern Hills site in May last year £23 pn, this same time it is now over £35 pn!
Totally ridiculous when the ‘other club’ over the road is still only charging £23 pn for “it’s oldies” as they have a 25% over 60 discount running. As the majority of the CAMC members are I’m sure in that age group maybe that would be something to look at to help their faithful members during this difficult time?

Something is going wrong if Mousley mobil  home site, can get a decent rate of 29p which I assume will be commercial rate, why can't the much bigger business CAMC.

Prices went up even before they got to the end of their contracts, then again when new prices were confirmed.

It sounds like CAMCs procurement team are as hopeless as the government's.

Luckyskip, we will be there over part of the Bank Holiday week, including a weekend, and am paying just £20:57 per night. 😁

The fact that the majority of members of the Club are seniors could just be why the Club has not introduced senior rates. It would effect the bottom line too much whereas the C&CC would appear to have a much greater spread of ages.

Indeed, you should neither pay nor remain a member of any institution you consider to be ripping you off but it appears many folk don’t consider CAMC to be ripping them off.

I’m afraid that’s very much the way things are in life in general at present. Many people can no longer afford to buy or do the things they enjoy whether it be favourite foods or evenings out and have to find alternatives. 😕
