Pitching Instructions

Unless we are calling in somewhere on the way, we are usually at the early end of the scale...however, a few minutes for a warden to take us to a pitch (which we don't have to accept) takes no longer than driving round a site to find one of our choosing...
certainly not enough difference to influence membership of C&CC.

As we move towards the clock change, 1pm doesn't give much daylight on a site on arrival day...getting dark at 3:30 ish doesn't bode well for sightseeing...or seeing anything actually.....
not such a problem for us in a MH, as we set up in minutes, but for those wanting to set up a typical caravan/awning arrangement, there ain't going to be much of day one left to 'go out and explore'...
you can see why there is a bow wave...everything conspires to encourage the queue at 'doors open'.
time for a rethink....?

Not saying they don’t happen but I think this bow wave thing is a bit over hyped and only happens at a few sites on any sort of regular basis. This year we have used 38 sites, a few a couple of times and at all but three arrived close to the earliest arrival. The only bow waves we have been caught in were at Clumber Park on two occasions. Everywhere else has been very civilised.

Just got the 'missing day' of a three day stay at Black Knowl....the missing day a Saturday as expected. Availability last night 'none', this morning 'low'.
So I have two bookings covering three days.
we are calling in on the way back from elsewhere to use a specific restaurant we have a gift card for...

In fact I rang Black Knowl and the warden suggested booking the two days and then checking morning (noon) and night for a late cancel....she said they get loads...which they obviously do.

Good to know (see what I did there) but i thought you preferred a CL near there? (from memory BB - no book needed)

Also I didn't know you were so knowledgeable (or been watching) about caravan setting up times for a caravan. Without an awning we can be set up in about 10 to 15 minutes, with our porch awning takes maybe 30? A full awning maybe an hour but then I've found that those that do this will be staying some time and sightseeing on that day probably won't be a priority.
We have had a caravan as well as a MH and it is definitely much faster setting up with the MH. No unhitching, possibly power moving, winding steadies, putting on the Alko wheel lock. Plus as we drained the caravan down, because of hitch load, refilling the system. Getting water about the same, although in the case of our MH it’s 100 litres, rather than an aquaroll full.
Typically we drive in and connect up EHU, although if it’s raining we will use the gas until it stops. In 38 separate set ups this year we have used the ramps twice.

Indeed, I'm glad your quick but I never said it was faster (or slower, or any time limit really, or easier), only making the point that it doesn't have to impinge that much time on the day as Bb suggested it might for caravans and not having enough time to get out and explore which I think could be incorrect even for a full awning, as he posted:
but for those wanting to set up a typical caravan/awning arrangement, there ain't going to be much of day one left to 'go out and explore'...
Sometimes yes and sometimes no, just not all the time even for a full awning as he appears to be suggesting in his 'race of getting set up'.
As for MH, all I said was: As for MH, I've seen some that take far longer than a few minutes, I suppose if one just parks up like you, but most on club sites use ramps, EHU (you don't?), and yes even the pipes for a service pitch. And of course quite a few put up awnings.
It's all swings and roundabouts really.
