Pitching Instructions

Commonsense my dear boy. If the peg was offset by a couple of metres you would probably struggle to fit the caravan on the wrong side without going onto the grass strip.
Unless of course these car park sites I hear of are actually worse than I remember.

I don’t know how they organise the grass, but the C&CC instructions for their HS pitches are not subject to misinterpretation in the same way as the CAMC. The spacing is maintained by having narrower pitches and the simple instruction keep it on the hardstanding. So far they have also been very consistent without the variation that affects the CAMC, particularly on some sites.

Go back and read what you wrote about pitching with "a" rear corner to the peg and occupying the side with the largest area of HS.
"pitch to the peg with a rear corner with the caravan to which ever side has the most space on the hardstanding".
And please don't "dear boy" me, it's not good coming from a Pieeater.
PS. Neat edit!

I don’t recall ever being advised how to pitch over there. If it’s a contained hedged pitch it’s best to do as here, car - RV - awning as some like to park their RV hard against the hedge. Aires often have very defined pitches with lines or bits of board.

Just quoting from a a member of site staff ,who had been there last winter, and going again next month., it was in answer to a site user who was asking him about clue fire breaks in this country and the difference .with pitching in Spain

The pitching rules are what they are on club sites, they are well known, maybe apart from the OP, there is a safety reason for the peg system but which you can agree with or not but if you want to use a club site then that is the way you have to pitch. If it's not to your liking then leave it to those who either do or really do not see it as as a big deal.

.....and club site pitching has nothing at all to do with how they pitch elsewhere.

Which club site is it?

..the one just outside.....just up the road to the one Steve was thinking of...

Thanks for sharing, as you've said in the past, both club sites are only full as we don't know there is better out there.

Just been on a site where, if I had put the corner of the caravan onto the peg....our car may just have fitted on the remaining space...most probably a wheel encroaching onto the adjacent grassed area...turned out the previous occupant had moved the peg to accommodate a large wind out awning from his large MH...(Comment from neighbouring pitch occupant when he noticed me moving the peg back to its original 'hole'..)
Aside, I have noticed that some sites have a dedicated dye coloured 'peg hole' to stop this happening..

So you're dragging the thread several hundred miles away from the topic raised by the OP? I see.
(Actually, you've posted that pic so many times it feels as familiar as my back garden.)
Now, shall we return to the topic of club sites?

It's a club site then? Looks good, again a name would be useful for others to benefit from it?

They need them. One poster here frequently boasts of moving the peg. I think he forgets the fundamental reason for it.

I think Another David and I have used the same site in Belgium that had very strict pitching guide which came as a bit of a surprise as you suggest it is uncommon to be told to pitch a certain way. When we caravanned there were a couple of sites in Germany where the site placed the caravan on pitch so one assumes that was some sort of "pitch control"? Now whilst we might all enjoy the freedom to pitch how we want in Europe I can't help thinking that not much thought or regulation goes into how pitches are used abroad. Because of the popularity of pitching across the pitch it often means there is often no more than a metre between the sides of caravans!

Another puzzling aspect is the constant need when a thread on pitching instructions on a club sites has people postings pics about non club sites, even sites abroad as if this has any bearing at all. I think we all know that other non club sites may not pitch to the peg, great, I'm happy people have found what suits them but as people who use club sites maybe 'we' do not need educating as to how there is better out there? Start a new thread if that is one's intention.

Folk certainly need educating CS. Presumably because there are more new members and hire vehicles than normal, we have observed a significant number of RV’s parked incorrectly this year. Sometimes 30cm to a metre off the peg and on at least 6 occasions the wrong side. Perhaps the CAMC need to start conducting folk to their pitch like the C&CC.😉

Not really my point Steve, my educating referred to letting people know about better sites being out there than club sites, not on how to pitch, which I agree with you!
But as said upthread I get the 'talk' every single time I arrive at a club site.

The site manager here says this year ,with new members especially ,,they have had to ,give advise on pitching,, and have at times had quite "intense " conversations with a few who think we are just being out of order
In fact one refused to move when advised he was much to Close to the next pitch and was going to report the manager ,when told he had 30 mins to move his RV to as the plan on his site map or move off site

SteveL wrote "Perhaps the CAMC need to start conducting folk to their pitch like the C&CC"
I quite like being 'conducted to my pitch'. Saves all that looking around, just follow the bike. They don't stay and supervise the pitching BTW.

Personally I like to choose my own pitch from what is available. Their choice might not be my choice?
