In the first lockdown I was stopped a couple of times on my way across town to do my Cinnamon Trust dog walking - the officers were happy when I showed them my ID badge on both occasions. But we did walk our own two separately, one of us in the morning the other in the afternoon.
So to be clear - is Mr Shapps saying we can both go out with them morning and afternoon?

Interesting, and surprisingly carefully worded for a politician!
I note it says "your dogs can be walked more than once a day" and not "you may walk your dogs more than once a day"!
Anyway, if stopped I'm going to claim the JVB defence. 👍

There’s a comment, unsubstantiated, in the Guardian today, that indicates Cornwall’s only big hospital Treliske has something like 50% of the Covid cases in ICU occupied by persons whose first home is in London. Cornwall’s daily case rate increases are very bad at the moment.☹️

The local traffic was much lighter in this area today but then the school run was not going
and we can hear traffic on the A1 but did not seem a heavy this morning
AD your suggestion about the Mway traffic on diversion ,would it be because only one direction was diverted

I don’t know about the mix of Covid patients in Treliske but recent item on local BBC suggested that the hospital is not (yet?) under significant pressure, although that can quickly change. There have been plenty of family groups in Cornwall in recent weeks - not locals. Like most other hospitals Treliske have massively expanded their ICU capacity. I think infection rates are currently 320/100k, some way from the rate not too long back when it was about 22/100k! Wouldn’t be surprised to find 50% of local ICU filled with Kensington & Chelsea residents though!

This lock down is different from the March lock down, in March only key workers were allowed to go to their place of work if they could not work from home and people were asked where possible to work from home, today people have been asked to work from home where possible, however, trademen such as builders, plumbers etc are allowed to go to work hence many white vans out and HGV's no doubt delivering goods to the various builders yards , supermarkets etc.

I received an email from a teacher old friend who said the algorithm this year would be grades based on the parent's mortgage. The higher the mortgage the higher the grade.
Actually looking back that did seem to be sadly the case

Headline in one newspaper this morning states
"Virus will overwhelm hospitals in 2 weeks"
I seem to recall a Mr Whitty predicting this way back in September if we were not all good boys and girls over the winter/Christmas and people called him the prophet of doom. I guess what goes around comes around

That man talks a great deal of sense. He’s not afraid to answer difficult questions either. I see he got criticism for suggesting there could be a form of lockdown next winter too.
Had to smile at the Press Conference before Christmas when a smart ***** reporter was asking how the panel were spending their Christmas Day and he replied that he was spending his on the wards helping out.Im a great admirer of him, and of Jonathan Van Tam, another straight talker.
