Why is DFDS so much cheaper?

Been comparing prices for Dover/Calais over the next few days and am astonished to find how much cheaper DFDS is than P&O. Sometimes by £100's for similar times on the same day. Haven't used DFDS for along time, does anyone have an explanantion for this price difference?

Maybe that magic word 'competition'!  I have used DFDS and they are fine.

Or maybe trying to sell as many tickets for the next few days before France goes on the naughty step wink

I remember using DFDS years ago they were always cheaper than P&O then. Just seem to have gone up in price in the last few years.

Good question, and who knows, but DFDS have always, when I have been looking at channel crossings, been competitive with a best ever £69 return for car and van booked at the NEC many years ago.

Other options are Harwich if heading East and Brittany ferries if heading South both showing good, 2021, prices but look at the ferry offers page.

You are on the ferry for 75-90 minutes, so long as the ferry is safe and run by a reputable company (which DFDS is) go the cheapest way, different if it were a long crossing and you were looking for a cabin and restaurant.
