To be honest, Rufs,  I've just read through the entire thread again and there only seems to be one "keyboard warrior" type who has posted frequently (guess who?).  undecided

Oh, by the way,  yes, we are intending to venture abroad, but it won't be towing! smile

I've certainly never found that attitude at all. Most I've spoken to admire many things and wish they have them.

So were those surveys you so glibly quoted in the OP concerned solely with caravan/motorhome tourists? Wish you'd made that clear at the time! tongue-out

so sorry I thought the report you posted on was just for caravans and Motorhomes? And indeed from just the club.

Or was it for all travellers?

Rufs, reading your OP was as enlightening as one of those ads for a life changing face cream.

“69% of women surveyed* said it changed their lives!”

    *Total surveyed, 101.

C’mon, ‘fess up, it was a post meant to stir the pot😂

Not at all, the survey was a general survey reported in the Uk press as well as the Spanish press and for all i know the German , French, et al, and i just thought it would be of interest to those planning to visit these countries , just to highlight what might be a problem, for as we have seen there have been some pretty hostile reactions against members of the camping fraternity here in the uk, so better to be forwarned, and what better place to spread the word to the Camping fraternity than in the overseas section of the camping and caravaning club forum for those planning to go overseas.

I should have said, that as i have seen no evidence on the forum that you are planning to go overseas in any shape or form then the fact that you consider the survey to be of no relevance is of little or no importance, what is important is that i thought it might be of some interest to some who are planning to venture abroad, and this is what this forum is for, keeping people informed.

I think people on this forum are well informed with regard to going to Europe by hearing the experiences of others already there.

The trouble with surveys is that they are rarely truly representative and can be made to provide a predetermined result by the wording of the questions, where they’re asked and who they are asked of.

I'd not pay too much attention to this sort of thing whatever the subject.

sorry TW, i am in my 70's lived and worked in many parts of the world so am well capable of forming judgements on many varied aspects of life. thank you

with this particular post, my daughter who lives in Spain had expressed her concern about some of the negative attitudes to Brits abroad posted me a couple of articles from the Spanish press which i then combined with others in the Uk press which i thought it would be good to at least inform others on this forum.

It is up to the individual to make their own assesement of the surveys, but i dont see why posting such information should cause such hostility, but i have to say it is not unusual on this forum.

Moderator Comment - I have closed this thread as it was getting very acrimonious.
