Dont worry too much as to how you are going to get there, the question is will we be welcome, a couple of quotes from news reports today

Researchers added: “People in France, Italy and Germany are all more likely to oppose British tourists coming for this summer than they are tourists from other European countries.”

In Spain, between 40 and 54 percent of respondents were opposed to tourists coming into their country from other European nations but the figure jumped up to 61 percent for Britons.

Between 32 and 46 percent of French people didn’t want visitors for other European countries but 55 percent opposed British holidaymakers

Google news as reported in the Express and Telegraph, also saw similar re Spain in the Olive Press.

Have to say from site we may visit in early September thru Nov contact and conversation with them was very positive, but normally Sept thru early Nov is a bit of a slack period for them so they will not be wanting to turn business away.

Oh! not one of the better vessels "Cr** Finistere" seems to be its trade mark name, been on once Portsmouth - Santander, was ok, just dated .

I think the reports refer to the general populations rather than those who are in need of the Brits moneywinksurprised

Gawd, you really are a strange guy, i was only pointing out what everybody who travels via BF to Spain would know about the Cape Finistere, for your information it was planned to take her out of service but corvid-19 etc seems to have put that decision on hold, but do enjoy your trip undecided even if it is on an old rust bucket laughing

So, you quote a poll of just 1000 people in each of 10 countries yet then make a comment saying something is, to quote you, “Cr**”?

That could equally apply to a comment trying to suggest that, based on a meagre number, we are not welcome in many European countries.

sorry what planet you on, as i said previously, anybody who has travelled the portsmouth - santander route via BF know that the Cape Finistere has not got a good reputation and that is what i was refering too, so not sure what your quote is referring to re the word "Cra*" undecided

I never said that, it was a report that i quoted from the Telegraph and the Express Newspapers which i thought would be of interest, and that is why i started the post, it was never my poll of the people or my opinion just a generalisation of interest

We are here - arrived Calais on Tuesday 6th via Eurotunnel.  Passports checked by British Border Force and waved through French customs.  As usual, straight off the train and on to the A16. First night at Camping Saints Claire in Neufchâtel-en-Bray.  An well laid out site, huge pitch with 10 amp electricity for 20 euro.  On site restaurant open & toilet facilities spotlessly clean.  Not many pitches taken.  The adjoining motorhome sire @ 12 euro per night was full by about 5pm.  Currently we are on a municipal site on the edge of Sees.  Again spotlessly clean with modern facilities.  Pitches are huge 11x11m, separated by shoulder high hedges and perfectly level.  With electric, 15 euro per night. On the  opposite side of the road is a Carrefour supermarket & filling station.  Again about 20% full.  The Club could learn a lot about the size and separation of pitches.  The one thing about club sites I hate is the cramped pitches and having to sit looking at the backside of someone else’s van.

There are no issues about being English or Irish (I have 2 passports).  I would be more worried about the Cornish or Scottish than the French. Based on their recent behaviours, I am never likely to motorhome in Cornwall or Scotland.  We feel much safer here.  Quiet roads, quiet campsites and a warm welcome.

There are no queues for the supermarkets, none of this one in one out nonsense.  Masks are not mandatory and people are alert and use their common sense - something a lot of the English seem to have lost.

The problem with quotes is that they can be taken out of context Rufs, I like to see a LINK although unfortunately a subscription is required for the DT and the Express is full of adverts. I did look up the Express article but it's not one I'd be interested in, their weather forecasts are always "stirring" to say the least. wink

I'm sure most countries are uneasy about visitors this year but there will be some who want to go and some who will arrive here too.

Yup agreed, but re Spain my daughter who lives in Spain sent me an article from the Olive Press quoting the same stats so i dont believe that three press outlets have got it wrong, ok they may all have been using the same stats from the same survey, but i just thought it would have been of interest to all those, including myself, who are planning to go over there this coming autumn.

Oh! gawd, the usual keyboard warriors have hi-jacked another post that was put up in all good faith in what i thought would have been of interest to others those planning to venture abroad, and worse still the keyboard warriors are those, from what i have read have not intention of venturing abroad surprised

Well, I did my very own survey.

I asked a number of people if they were anti a visit to France this autumn and both of them said "It would be great to see you". 100% of French citizens said please visit.

So looks like Express wrong (again).smile

We Brits tend to have a high opinion of ourselves but our European cousins haven’t shared that for some time now. EU member nations see us troublesome and obstructive, many resent our insistence on shouting in English rather than learning the basics of their language and many resent our lack of respect or interest in their culture preferring to carry on like we’re at home, but with cheaper booze. The behaviour of some Brits abroad is appalling, particularly kids and stag/hen groups who do our reputation no favours. I’m not surprised we’re not the no 1 favourite visitor!

What's up Rufs? Didn't they give you time to get your face paint on and do your war dance before attacking?
