We’re in the middle of a pandemic. These are extraordinary times, clarifying arrangements for arrival and other aspects of one’s stay is surely a reasonable approach for all to take, rather than just assume the world is continuing as before and being surprised when you find out it’s not. As someone said ‘we’re all in this together‘, so we all have responsibilities.

Some might ring to check. However, I think the majority would work off  there confirmation email and perhaps check online for any updates.

Exactly, we do not know how many issues EG are having to contend with at this time from both campers and wardens, if i had a pitch booked at a specific site in these exceptional times, i think 24 hrs before arrival i would be contacting the site to confirm that i was still ok for staying, not sure if all sites have an answering machine that they can programme to leave a specific message if reception is not manned, they should have, but a simple message saying "we are open but do not arrive before 1300 hrs is all that is required, not rocket science, and if you arrive and cant gain access , drive around for an hour or find some place to park up, difficult times require imaganitive solutions.laughing

The club management should concern itself with informing members. That should be within their remit. As a pastime it is important that site arrivals impinge as little as possible on other members of Joe Public

for the difficult sites, you dont know that they have not done this ?

or made arrangements for members to enter the site, park up and wait until wardens are available to handle new arrivals, i cant believe that the club/wardens are not aware of the dangers of having LV's parked up outside sites where Joe  public might get the hump, another reason why they would be on top of this to protect the possible closure of the site.

People are going to go with what the confirmation e mail says, so the Club needs to alter it where necessary.  Even send new e mails where necessary.

Otherwise people will arrive at noon, unless the site info already says otherwise.

Not received mine either, but how could it possibly be in the Aug mag, this decision to move arrival times to 1300 hrs has more than likely been made as a result of feedback from wardens as to how they are coping, and as reported previously, one warden on here is struggling to fit deep cleaning in with getting ready to welcome new arrivals at     1200 hrs.

Its a new world requring many changes/concessions for all of us we have to get used to it, or give up our much loved pastime/hobby/leisure pursuit whatever you want to call it, but whatever, it is not going to be the same again for some time to come.

We received the following text on the Friday 10th as we were due to arrive Sunday 12th

We are asking members arriving at a Caravan & Motorhome Club campsite between the 11th and 13th July inclusive, who were originally booked to arrive at 12:00pm to rearrange their arrival time to 1:00 pm, in order to support our site management teams with the additional workloads being undertaken to deliver COVID Secure conditions. For all other timed arrivals please bear with us and we will move as quickly as we can to shorten any waiting period. Thank you for your assistance. We look forward to welcoming you.

In 15 years I have phoned a site twice before arrival and given that, to the best of my received information from the club and thereby knowing the site arrival procedure and the 12am is earliest arrival time why would I trouble the warden.

So the message was received 10 days ago. Plenty of time to make all aware if what JK says is true. If I am on a tour I may well not have internet on site.

So not a shambles or failed event in a brewery, just a bit of inconsistency in approach and timing across the network.

But what about those members who are out for more than a few weeks, have booked a number of sites and have left home before the changes were made and the magazine sent out? Surely they shouldn't have to keep checking in with each site before arrival to find out if anything has changed, even if they were able to, phone reception being what it is in places and not manned constantly on site.

    Look in at CT wink

Or if that is to complicated ,then i would expect on arrival at the first club site ,when "Advised " that you are "early?" the question would be to the site staff as they already have had "since when has the arr time changed?",which would have you pre advised for future sitessurprised

As I said I have phoned ahead twice. Once when at Hawes as a first stop. We had got jobs done early and went 4 days in advance. Did not want 9 days in Hawes and so decided to cancel the last 5 days and rebook for 5 days at Coniston - done by Hawes warden. I had been 15 years or more earlier but OH had never been.

I phoned up Coniston to check when we could arrive. I think that the answer was any time after 10am.

The other time was our firdt winter in South port 10 years ago to check if coast road was clear. Yes was the answer laughing The hell it was laughing

Oh, a very clever idea that! and how many members even know that CT exists let alone look at it...0.01% or less I would think.

But we are not interested in past history, what we have now are unprecendented situations which the club are clearly trying to address as quoted below maybe on a site by site bases or maybe now across the board

    quote

We are asking members arriving at a Caravan & Motorhome Club campsite between the 11th and 13th July inclusive, who were originally booked to arrive at 12:00pm to rearrange their arrival time to 1:00 pm, in order to support our site management teams with the additional workloads being undertaken to deliver COVID Secure conditions. this was sent to a particular member as a text, maybe because they were going to a particularly difficult site for access, but this proves the club are trying to be proactive, not reactive and you suggest.

I have received information from the club about site arrival times and there is a list of times ,which i cannot seem to get ,on the clubs website about earliest arrival times  and whether the site shops are open

The link ii have recieved works ,but i cannot get find the information without that link and unfortunately i have no idea of how to do it from their G,mail to here

The gist of it is that unless stated on the list arrival times and shops are as  normall 1200 hrs

So JK was not correct it seems with his blanket 1300 hr arrivals

Maybe a Mod can get posted
