    Do the Club actually use Texts as a means of communication? Can't say I have ever had one from them.

    BTW I emailed the Club two days ago about arrival times. Received and acknowledgement but still waiting for a reply to the question.

    I'll let you all know how we get o  with Club sites later on in the holiday, but currently, we are on a private site.... Wells Touring Park.

    They've got it all sorted here!  Pay a deposit when booking and balance before you arrive.  They send you the allocated pitch number and the code for the gate, so no booking in, as such.  Hand sanitizer at the security gate with instructions to sanitize before and after using the key pad.  Warnings to wash ha ds before and after use on the pitch EHU bollard and the water point on serviced pitches.  Hand sanitizer and social distancing measures around toilet block, grey waste  CDP, etc, with instructions to sanitize before and after use.  Toilet block very large, open plan and some sinks taken out of action making provision for social distancing.

    This is a wonderful site who have done absolutely everything possible to keep visitors safe.  This is an adult only site, and everyone is being really sensible.

    We will certainly be returning.

    We're staying on 6 sites this summer... some private  some CAMC.  It will be interesting to see how other sites cope...

    As clumber park has a regular clientele for the normal 1300 arrival times, and as its seems by posts members do not"check" the clubs website (although it seems most these days book that way) as posted before thas the Temp arrival times it seems could well in the future become permanent then members will /may cotton onwink

    The daft thing is, it would have been so easy to do it well. Change the arrival times on the web site as they now seem to have done. Put a big drop down banner,  that appears as with the annoying cookies one. Simply saying, some earliest arrival times have changed please consult site pages. Follow this with a global email saying the same. It would be much better than a confusing list that isn't even that easy to find.

    The normal arrival time has been 12:00 since I went there with our first van in 2005. It has only just been changed to 1pm in this latest revision. The site page was only changed yesterday, prior to that it showed 12:00.

    Are you sure ? because thought i noticed it was 1300 when we did a booking for May this yearsurprised

    Edit: Apologies everyone.  I've written this review twice... the first time it disappeared but appears to have appeared again - Oh well, I'll leavi it as it is now rather than leaving a blank post..... 🙂

    We are currently on a private site (the first of 6 sites this summer).... Wells Touring Park.

    A lovely little site, who have done all possible to keep visitors safe.  Deposit paid when booking, nd balance paid before arrival.  They send you your allocated pitch number and barrier code.

    When you alive there is a hand sanitizer bottle by the security gate keypad with instruction to sanitize before and after using the keypad.  You then go straight to your pitch (map supplied on line) awithout seeing anyone from the site.  Notices by EHU point and water points (on serviced pitches) asking people to wash hands.  All other (communal) taps have sanitizer dispensers and notices to use sanitizer before and after touching taps.

    Toilet blocks are open, but are very spacious and have social distancing measures and hand sanitizer dispensers and instructions by the doors.  Some sinks have been taken out of use in order to maintain  distance.  CDP  Washing up sinks, Grey water waste all have sanitizer dispensers with instructions to use before and after use.

    This site couldn't have done more to keep folk safe.  Everyone here appears to be sticking to the rules (adult only site).  Certainly a site that we will return to.

    It will be interesting to see how the other sites we visit later (CAMC sites and the other private sites, or have booked).  I'll report in and do a 'Covid-19 Safety Measures' report after each site.

    Wells Touring Park is an adult only site, but well worth a visit.  Another 5 sites to go, including two CAMC sites..

    All I can say is the booking we made at the beginning of April for a mid September date, says arrival from 12:00. Also after seeing the queue back to Lime Tree Avenue when we passed last Thursday, out of interest I checked the time on the site page, it was still 12:00 at that time.

    Hi everyone.  It would be really useful if comments on this thread be kept to information specifically about the measures sites are adopting to keep visitors safe, in these difficult times.  I know there are many who are still very apprehensive about caravanning in the current climate.  Any information we can give about procedures and measures which sites are adopting will help folk decide if the time is right for them to venture out.

    Please try and keep this thread as a useful guide.

    Not as far as I am aware David but many organisations do use both text and e-mail and on many you can tick preferences including both. I am sure that the club will catch up with the 21st century but it is early days for them

    of course they do...somewhere buried in all these posts in one from a member saying that he received a text some 3 days before arrival at a specific site advising him of a change of arrival time, cant be bothered to trawl back and find it but it is in this post somewhere

    Yes they do many were sent out for the W/end of the 13th july advising of temporary arrival time changes for members going to the sites affected   ,If the club had a mobile number that is?

    of course they do..

    That is good then but it is not an option available in communication preference. You can phone, e-mail, post but not text specifically. I have a couple of friend who I would never phone normally as they are very deaf and I use e-mail or text. In person they can lip read well to augment their hearing..

    I am sure that the club will catch up with the 21st century but it is early days for them 

    says one who admitted text messages where a no brainer as far as he was concerned and was not prepared to give the club his mobile telephone number.

    seems to me that the club , although not covering itself in glory, has amonst it members those who seem to go out of their way to thwart messures the club do put in place in these difficult times to try and make our stays as hassle free as possible.

    Have just been speaking to my SIL who works for a well known holiday company, they will not open their facilities until September and are in the process of giving full refunds to all the tenters and partial refunds to those who are touring, statics etc will get nothing even though some of the ammusments or restaurants will not be available.

    you can insert your mobile number into your profile, so i would have thought that if you insert it then the club would have the option to use it.

    I have a couple of friend who I would never phone normally as they are very deaf and I use e-mail or text.

    crikey do i not remember you proudly displaying a text on here from 2019 that you had not opened, apologies if i am wrong undecided

    My booking, which I have just looked at online, still says arrival between 12.00 and 14.00. It is the same as it was the day it was booked. Even if I could arrive by midday it's unlikely that we will make until after 13.00 anyway so not an issue but still not sure how they expect members who book and forget to know about later arrival times. The point of my email was to suggest to the Club they need to let people know en masse.

    You are not wrong at all (obviously blessed with a good recall), text is now Deleted User. Normally I am aware of texts during waking hours and do check anyway when away from home.

    Probably around the time when sites reopened and of course makes perfect sense to use a text as a means of communication in more urgent circumstances. My position is that I have a site booked for 2nd August and as pointed out elsewhere my booking still shows 12.00 arrival time although I know it to be 13.00 but only by reading this forum. It will be interesting to see if I get notified of any changes because I can't see anywhere on this website that all sites have been changed to 13.00 arrivals. The latter arrival time is not an issue for me but it would look more professional if the Club had it's communications sorted?

    I make a note of the site postcode, phone number, deposits paid etc and amongst other thing earliest or agreed arrival times. I would never normally recheck unless notified by e-mail

    Southport Club Site

    Arrived just before 12:30 Sunday (It’s 12 opening as normal).

     Queue of about 20 vans on the road.  Warden with clipboard by the barrier ticking the list of arrivals, handing out site map and Covid info sheet and waving you through the barrier.

    Find pitch, return to office to pay with vouchers, pick up toilet key and the 2 rubber bands for the toilet block which were Handed to us in an envelope.

    We were on the older part of the site (don’t like the newer area) and the shower block has the hooks outside to limit numbers to 2 Per block. Husband used the shower block once but I didn’t as I had a Pacemaker fitted last Thursday and avoiding water wink

    We have a private site booked for next weekend then Thursaston the following weekend. So far so good (just wish we were able to do longer than 2 nights but caring duties prevent that)

    agree 100 pct, however, as i said was talking to my SIL earlier who works for a well known holiday company, currently she is working 7 days per week sometimes 12 hrs trying to keep on top of providing refunds, new bookings, cxlations, and of course customer service is inundated with calls re problems on sites etc, i expect the club has similar problems it called "crisis management" and very difficult to deal with.

    The newer area looks wide open and baron to me but the seagulls love it when at least 10 pitches flood. We have used it but not really desirable

    We found the site organised well enough two in the shower block etc. my main concern was on pitching going out and returning a van with three adults and door on the right was pitched next to us still rear offside to peg  this reduces the separation distance considerably. The Club ought to look at this issue even temporarily suspend other good reasons for the usual ways to pitch.

    I can’t see how the separation distance was reduced. We can all pitch either rear O/S to the peg or front N/S to the peg. The distance remains the same.
