“Process” ?

Below is a direct quote taken from the latest update from the CAMH regarding one of the measures which will be in place when sites reopen for Members’ use. As I am very much looking forward to an Autumn break, I would greatly appreciate knowing in advance what the ‘process’ will be; Having further clarification on what sort of ‘A process’ is to be ‘in place’ would be greatly appreciated so I know what to expect before arriving on site.
Does anyone know the answer please?

 Using the toilet blocks
As you would expect we've increased the rigour and frequency of cleaning and sanitising products, and enhanced the regularity of disinfecting surfaces across all common areas.

A process will be in place to control the number of people in the facility at any one time in line with current guidelines.”

Unless one of the wardens who posts is able to enlighten you, I don't think you will find anyone on here who knows. The club have yet to explain what the measures will be. It is very possible they will be site specific, as facilities block designs vary.

If you are not intending to use sites until September, what ever is introduced initially may well have been revised by then in any event.

I’m sure CAMC know the answer and we’ll find out in due course when the opening dates are confirmed.

    Anything else is just speculation

edit - sorry posted at the same time as previous reply, saying much the same.

In the FAQ's they also say this:-

"We intend, government legislation allowing, to open all toilet blocks and communal facilities on those sites that have them.

There will be restrictions on the number of people accessing all facilities at any one time and this may cause queues. We ask all members to be patient with each other and our staff, to follow social distancing guidelines and we highly recommend if you have on board facilities to utilise these wherever possible to support the Club through these unprecedented times."

Until the Government actually give the go ahead to open and depending what advice they give, if any, on shared facilities perhaps its a bit early to say. Clearly it's not going to be like using the facilities prior to COVID 19!! Clearly the Club want as many people as possible to use their own facilities as it seems using toilet blocks won't be as simple as it was before?  I wonder if this current crisis will start a rethink on the design of future toilet blocks as many only have one entrance/exit point.

The details of toilet block cleaning are on this website somewhere, I've read them.

Apparently there will be 6 cleaning periods on toilet /shower blocks daily 2 will be deep cleaning &  the other 4 not so rigorous.

Directions regards numbers of people allowed in the blocks at any one time will be posted/policed  along with direction of travel through blocks, &  expected limitations of time in the blocks to avoid members queuing outside , extra hand washing & bacterial hand stations are being made available.

Ultimately its going to be all individual members responsibly to ensure they leave showers & toilets in a fit clean state after use &  adhere to requirements asked to ensure things are left safe for everyone following on.

Personally I dread to think how some members will manage, seeing the state of toilets & the like before this Coronavirus crisis ever started, lack of personal hygiene for some is at a minimum level already.

I wouldn't be surprised if the club doesn't have a disclaimer posted outside toilet /shower blocks voiding their responsibility toward hygiene safety.

I'll certainly be avoiding all sites with toilet blocks that's C&CC & CMC & using Cls /Cs went &  if we do venture out.

Don’t worry, they'll not notice and I’m sure they've been called worse things. 🤣

If they are cleaning the facilities 6 times per day they'll be closed more than they're open 😀

    That's the solution

I think the club's expectations is that all members use their own facilities that can, thus taking pressure of the toilet /shower blocks &  of course the wardens.

Things on caravan & campsites are going to be challenged for the next 18 months or so.

That’s brill, thanks for your informative reply compass362.

Having thoroughly read through the latest updates, I obviously missed the clarification on what the ‘process’ for controlling numbers in the shower block/toilets is going to be.
I’d very much like to read it for myself so would you mind sharing the link or directing me where to view it please?

    Thank you

The Welsh First Minister did say that those leisure sites with shared facilities would be last to be considered for full opening. Whether this means that CAMC sites in Wales will be open but sanitation blocks closed I can't answer but will post again whenever he elucidates further.

Thanks for that Wherenext, grapevine news as its place I guess; As I receive regular Gov.uk e-mails on all things Coronavirus related, I consider myself fairly well informed but there’s such a lot of information, updates & topics to read! Phew .... then there is all the CAMC’s info to read also 🤓

    Afternoon

I think you'll find the info you've supplied regarding cleaning six times a day comes from the Camping and Caravanning Club. Details of our policies and protocols are yet to be announced. We should know sometime this coming week if and when we open and what systems will be in place.

    Cheers

    JK

    Hi Mrs R11

If you haven't found the more detailed CAMC reopening info start on this sites home page at the top banner "Important information". When that page opens scroll down to the Covid secure commitment section and open the "find out more" section and you will find the information you want to read.

There appears to still be a little more work to do but there is still time before reopening.

Hi ForestR & many thanks for your reply.

The quote I included in my opening post was indeed taken from the CAMC Covid secure commitment & “find out more” section. I’ve read & understand it all but I was specifically asking if anyone knew what the ‘process’ is to be it mentions to control the number of people using the showers/toilets.

From the responses given on this thread & JK’s helpful reply, it would appear this information has not yet been officially divulged by the CAMC but will be released in due course.

As there’re over 100 CAMC sites on the phased re-opening list from 04/07/2020, I’d imagine there is still certainly more work to do.

Sorry to everyone for the error.

We are members of both clubs so obviously confused the two.

I knew I'd read details reference toilet block cleaning, I'm sure the CMC will have something similar if not the exact same amount of cleaning periods.

Extra hand cleaning stations will be a must regardless of which club you use.

But ultimately it's also down to every member to ensure their own hygiene methods &  safety routines.

I personally wouldn't want to follow anyone other than a family member after using toilet or shower, we live in a changing world & certainly need to be alert to the possible dangers.

Many thanks to JK for putting me straight for my accidental error &  informing other members of my confused statement. 👍

    Morning

We're all eagerly waiting for the govt. advice for the hospitality industry. Until that time it's just a big if and when! There's a big stack of plans to cover all eventualities, the waiting game is as bad as furloughwink

Fingers crossed we can get away soon.  As for toilet blocks and cleaning, personally, however much the poor wardens are asked to clean them, I wouldn’t want to use them at present.  This virus is still around and still too new so we will be using our own facilities.  We have booked, in anticipation 2 sites late August and September neither of which have a toilet block.

Would it not be easier for wardens, if only those who need to use the toilet blocks ie those without their own facilities were allowed to use them. They then could reduce the number of toilets/showers open according to the numbers on site using them at any particular time. Reducing what seems to be a very onerous task, cleaning all blocks several times a day. To be absolutely honest I don't use the blocks anyway so for me personally no impact.

"Allowed to use them". Geez, you make it sound like a prison camp. How do you envisage enforcing that? 😄

Many sites already issue keys or have coded entry. Could have said "toilets made available to those who need them" may have sounded better but same thing. Not a prison camp at all just everyone finding the best way forward.

Reading various media outlets this morning it seems all the camping and caravan park operators are just as confused and complaining of a lack of definitive guidance from the government. Some have already postponed reopening until mid July and have said even then they may not be opening.

Personally, I think this is a marketing ploy by the CAMC to get site bookings increased to near capacity, particularly for those who will not use their own facilities (for whatever reason) and thus rely on using site facilities. I stand to be corrected but I have a feeling many people will be disappointed when Bojo announces sites can open, but facilities will need to remain closed. Besides, would you seriously want to put yourself and others at risk just to perform your ablutions, when it can be done from the safety of your own unit?
