He didn't say how entry numbers to the facilities blocks would be controlled. Are they expecting wardens to do this perhaps at certain times?

He failed to correct Keith who asked how the balance of payment would be made, the deposit having already been paid. I gave up at that point.

Thank you Briang, there was no chance I would have seen this otherwise. I do hope Club members are allowed a similar version via the club web site. Whilst it left some things unanswered it was a bit of a morale booster and might help some with decision making. I thought the suggestion of not going too far or too long from home for the first trip out was a good one. smile

As long as you are sensible and avoid the West Country, Wales and Scotland I'm not convinced it is necessary. There are a number of Nightingale hospitals in various places standing empty.

Why should a relaxing 3 week break in SE England be any more dangerous than a similar break in North Yorkshire. I certainly won't be visiting a Club site and using the communal toilets.

As the daily briefing made mention of possible local lockdowns if needed one would have to be careful where you wanted to spend your time so somewhere close makes sense, although we were trying to work out how to make Northumberland local from Wales.smile

MikeyA. As I'm in the west country I can hardly avoid it  wink and will be quite happy to venture out nearer to home. Don't know what the M way situation is like for travellers at the moment but you might need to think about long distance travel and reduced facilities.

We've got the same problem if we want to see our son and family so I've booked a trip north much later than usual, but will cancel if needed.

He also repeated that there are about 2300 CLs in the network, and form previous posts and by looking on the web site that there are now 2167 listed  with the likelihood of that number being even less. He also stated that all sections of HO have been working from home, but we were informed a while ago that the CL section had stopped functioning for the time being.

If everyone has been issued with a laptop to work at home with, how come they still haven't sorted out my log-in from other devises? 🤔

I was wondering who Carefree Caravanning were? I thought Carefree was used by the C&CC for one of their insurance products? Obviously a big coup for them but you do wonder about the Club's Media strategy because unless the OP had posted the link here would any of us seen it?

Does sound like he is optimistic about opening at some point in July however he did point out that would not include sites in Scotland. I wonder what the situation will be if they do open as planned as we have a 3 and a half week trip booked taking in Cambridgeshire and Yorkshire in July I wonder if we will be able to travel down to England (I’m hoping so) as we only live 2 hours from the Border so won’t be overnighting in Scotland on the way down.Im optimistic we will get a summer holiday but there are many what ifs at the moment

I thought a couple of negative points but also one or two positives to take from the interview ,and that is what we need at the moment ,some optimism that we will be able to get away in July.Oh wait ,we haven’t got our Caravan yet,it’s still in Wales 😂😂

Hi David, well I for one would not have seen it as I am not a FB user however, my wife is so I just had a look at the D&C FB page and can see nothing, so looked at the clubs page and same there.

I then decided to look at the club website, as it is their ;window to the world' and looking at the page can see nothing in the headers that suggest I might find the video.

Scrolling down I see that there is a club blog, so maybe there, but when I look at it there is no sign of the video despite saying "Welcome to the Caravan and Motorhome Club blog-Here you'll find all the latest news,"

    Seems that you wont.

I have no idea how others use the website, I have the CT page bookmarked and that's what I go to, but the website has always seemed a bit 'clunky' and not very intuitive.

I would need to make a point of checking, so i need to do my bit, but, if the blog was a place to find the latest news, say a video viewed as worthy of promoting to members, why is it not on the club website, which is their platform, as well as the other places, such as FB that members may use??

I did watch the video and overall it was not as bad as I was expecting but that in itself  has me wondering why I was expecting it to be bad?

So far as venturing out we are hoping it wont be too long before we are on a CL near you!

I didn't think it particularly informative. No information on how they would safely open facility blocks, just a bland limiting of numbers. From what he said he did seem to imply they were considering opening sites fully to 100% capacity. Well that's the impression I came away with.🤔  I can't say I would be keen on that, particularly initially.👎

The club has access to a variety of media, why not put something on YouTube for members. I've personally no interest in the "carefree caravaning" set up although I could see a CT member posting a comment on there.

I think most of us want to know more.

I see someone has written on another thread that the shower areas are the least likely to spread the virus. Where is the evidence about this? Hard surfaces and enclosed spaces are known to pose a risk.

The same as other reports David, like the letter to Professor Witty. There's been no mention on here.

Pity there isn't an emoticon for Tongue in Cheek.

Just who was consulted on site facilities as he mentions in the video?

Hi steve, why would you not be keen, why not initially??

The video had one question that, to me summed up one of the most irritating things about the current situation, and indeed life in general.

The question was "who will clean the bollards".

If this country is populated by people who cannot do or think for themselves then they are going to be 'restricted' for a heck of a long time.

I cannot see how a club site will be any less safe than any other situation and, due to likely being able to distance easier, maybe 'safer'..

Hmm. At home I'm at least 15m from my nearest neighbour, I don't share her watertap or her loo...

I thought the payment on arrival was glossed over, if you only have payment by card then payment could be made in advance or over the phone on the day. There are several possible problems with this, the paper vouchers and of course on some sites it’s not possible to pick up all networks.
Plus the main thing is the statement should be on this web site.

Hi steve, why would you not be keen, why not initially??

We were on a site just prior to lockdown at about 75% full and that didn't feel safe. That was in March and not many awnings / children on site. Roll on to July / August lots of awnings and children, making distancing more difficult. That and plenty of virus still about. Not for us. We've done a good job of being safe for 2+ months, not going to spoil it just to get away at the first opportunity. We have sites booked for September and October and we'll evaluate those closer to the time. We've still got to come through this unlocking without another peak.

Letter to Prof Whittey published in Practical Caravan magazine, information about reopening of sites publicised on some obscure YouTube vlog yet the club managed to email all members advertising their vouchers.

    Unbelievable.

Come on CAMC get a grip

Am I right in thinking he glossed over the use of cash? This probably leads to another question, will wardens be selling their normal items from reception during the initial opening period?

    Hi TW,

I should have said I meant any other 'away from home' situation such as visiting a vulnerable person, going shopping, to the tip, walking or cycling-all my current activities!
