Hopefully we are praying we will be back on the road by the end of June. We have sat at home discussing how to fill in the time, l intend to do jobs on the motorhome l have been intending to do since we had it last July, don't get me wrong we have had things added, a few things were done by our dealer which we paid for ie Door Fly Screen, our 2015 Autotrail Tribute didn't come with one has it was an entry level van, we had a tow bar fitted, we had extra plug points fitted and spotlights changed with usb connections. What l am now after is some idea's from the Community what they have added and mainly done themselves to add to their motorhome that makes for better use. One thing l want to tie down is to get rid of those blasted rattles at moment we make do with bubble wrap any one got better ideas, Another project is to add a solar panel is their a cheaper way than having our dealer do it, they have quoted  on average £600. So if any of you have added things that make you van that more satisfying you ideas will be appreciated.

We found ear plugs were helpful. at first   ,but as i  have got older, i just did not use my hearing aids when travelling,,, problem now solved as the "rattles?" are about 6ft behind the tow carcool

Line the cupboards, I have used a kind of lighter weight material similar to awning carpet, I also wrap pans and oven trays.

I don’t think you will stop all rattling, but this helps.

We found the noise horrendous when we first changed from caravan to Motorhome.

Somewhere on here, and I will search for it when I can, there's a LONG thread on making our hobby cheaper which includes lots of tips and solar power. Think it's living with EHU or similar started by Merve he's great for all sorts. Great time to read it as it's a long read   😉

    Where do I start?

Fence panels all need a new lick of whatever the equivalent of creosote is. Garden needs a complete makeover. Garage needs a clean out. Did that yesterday only to find tip now closed so found a space for it elsewhere. I need to go into the attic to see whats lurking there. All of the internal doors need repainting. I'm beginning to think that maybe we live in a pigstyundecided

I'll be doing a bit of baking as I'm finding short supplies of Gluten Free food.Keeping fit by going for walks from the house as far as I'm allowed to.

    Then on Friday....smile

Best of all, trying to stay safe and sane.

First thing I did was to fit my own bathroom storage fittings  and carbon monoixde and smoke detectors. Later I added a 120w solar panel which I bought in kit form from Sunstore, not a difficult job to do. To compliment this and to keep an eye on its performance and the state of the battery I added BM1 battery monitor from Nasa Marine. These are the mods I have done myself. Others have been done e.g hydraulic leveling but by professionals.

One of us has lots of jobs to do and I'm compiling a nice long list of jobs for OH laughing

Fence panels need new tops, fence posts new tops, raised bed to build, new arch to make, lawn to reshape, whirligig clothes line to move, 2 cars and a caravan to wash and check over ready for when this madness is over. Then there is the attic to sort out and get rid of things. Of course there is the usual jobs like windows to clean, grass to cut, borders to tidy up, bushes to prune, the list goes on.

The one good thing that could come out of this enforced staying at home is that once its all over we can go away for even longer laughinglaughinglaughing

Glass half full or what wink

To get rid of rattles in our MH, I made little cloth bags for things like saucepans + lids and grill pan, oven shelves I wrapped a small piece of foam along the sides. The microwave always squeaked so we pushed a couple of plastic wedges underneath it when travelling this help a lot. Pack the lockers well or put things in drawer containers we bought our from IKEA they come in sets 1 bigish square one 2 longer ones (Half size of big one)and 2 small ones (half size of long ones) they are soft material and very light weight holds all sorts of bits and bobs. Still use them in the caravan now they are that good.

    Hi B2,

oh, you know, roll with the punches so they say.

Not much change in my boy since his last stroke but at least he is here; albeit as irritating as usual 😬. I continue to drag him out and about in the Moho as well as taking the dogs. If I need to attend remote meetings he/ the whole lot & the Moho comes with me so I can pop out in breaks to check on him.

I was really looking forward to a break in Italy this year but alas.......

‘My priority now is keeping my boy safe which is incredibly difficult when I am supposed to work.
‘I am usually very tired; I would so love a week alone to catch up on sleep but that’s not possible.
There is always someone worse off 🥺

Artyboo you sound like it's tough, but I'm glad your boy's still with us. You have been my inspiration since my OH stroke bypass and ICD fitted last year. Sadly our moho has gone but that was cos it needed work. Don't push yourself too hard, I get tired and short😯 😉 at times but I don't have to work. Wish there was a way contact without taking up other threads or being public. Take good care of yourself, him and the dogs. Some of us are wondering how to fill the hours and others need more than 24 every day. Just glad to see a post from you.

Once again sincere apologies for going off topic. I hope you'll forgive me.

We don’t seem to get many rattles in MH. As soon as we got it home, we lined all cupboards and drawers with that mesh none slip matting. We use baskets for food items in deep cupboards, crockery is a purpose provided set that fits very snug in the cupboard just for crockery, pans go under cooker each wrapped in a tea towel, oven shelves and grill pan are stored flat in bedding locker above cab, finally we place a rolled tea towel between cooker top and lid when on the road. Job done👍

We wont have any trouble filling in the time, garden when it’s nice, some DIY and various craft hobbies if it turns wet. Staying in contact via social media with family and friends, a daily dog walk for as long as it is allowed, cycling on turbo/possibly Zwift either up in attic or out on patio. We got caught out trying to fetch our old van home for some Restoration work, but if we can at some point get it home, that will be our big project. It’s only two miles away, but don’t want to flaunt any rules. Above all, doing our best to behave appropriately, take care of ourselves and others, remain as positive as possible.

As both OH and son are on the restricted list they have the routine jobs that are part of everyday life in addition to extra cleaning of their ventilation equipment. Acting as the UN when they have the odd tiff. Encouraging them to exercise a bit. On top of that a bit of tiding the garden.....

Garage needs a clean out. Did that yesterday only to find tip now closed so found a space for it elsewhere.

hope you didnt fly tip WN , only jokinglaughing

going to paint the garage door frame as a starter, have cut the grass and thrown some seed around, caravan was cleaned a couple of weeks back as we should have been starting our 3 months in Spain 14th April. Dont know if it makes it any easier folks, but my daughter reports that it has rained in Spain for 24 hrs, flooding again in Mar Menor.

OH gone to live with mother in law looking like 3 months now, so have to walk fido whilst we are able, and keep myself alive. Number one priority make the most of this glorious weather, we have a family beach house just 10 mins away so can cycle there as my daily exercise, and then sit and watch the ships passing by in the Solent, going to turn cold by the weekend frownStay safe everybody

I might actually finish the book I started reading last Summer. I'd got about a quarter of the way through but it is so long since I picked it up, I'll probably have to start from the beginning again.
