Hi all

The Mrs and me have got tickets to the Heineken Rugby Final in Marseilles in May and will be making this part of a two week touring holiday through France in our Dethleffs Motorhome.

Does anyone know of any decent sites/aires we could stay overnight that would be easy to get into Marseille by either train or bus?

This will be our first time touring with a van having done various touring holidays by car over the years so any tips gratefully received!

Thanks

We stopped at Cassis to visit Marseille. Reasonable site but they do have a tendency to try & put you on the smallest pitch they can get away with. Bus stop outside the site entrance takes you into Marseille - you would need to check the bus times.

    CAMPING LES CIGALES

    43, AVENUE DE LA MARNE

    13260 CASSIS

In that city it might not be a good idea to leave a Motorhome in an unguarded Aire while you are away for a good few hours at the game -   and the pre match and after match festivities might go on a bit - so leaving your vehicle at a supervised campsite might be wise.

There is a cluster of campsites by the sea south of Martigues - Camping  Marius, Camping Pascalounet, Camping Seagulls, and one or two more - and the local stopping train runs along that coast to Marseille. Perhaps choose one of those sites nearest a station - but do check the train times to get you back late at night embarassed

PS.  But if it's an evening game those trains probably won't work.

You might want to stay at a site around Avignon and catch the TGV. As a matter of interest, googling about, I came across this bit of info which might add to your planning. Station to Stadium
