Winter in Portugal???

Having been to France and Spain in the winter we are considering going to Portugal for a month or so during this coming winter for a change, possibly Jan/Feb/Mar. Having never been to Portugal has anyone got any general advice or suggestions on routes, suitable sites or areas etc etc. Is there a specific forum somewhere on tinternet?

I googled Winter in Portugal to see what the oracle would tell me - the first words were " Winter in Portugal  is best described as mild but unpredictable" . Could you perhaps persuade someone in the family look after your dog while you jet away to somewhere better than that?

We used to spend a month in Portugal. However, we took a month to get there, through France and Spain, and a month to get back! Our 'avatar' photo was taken on the beach at Alvor, one of our favourite spots.
