Travelling after Brexit

Hi David, glad to see that, for once, we are in the same position as the sun is shining here and our youngest daughter and her three children arrive today so life is just about to get better.................but also quite a bit busier!!
Have a great holiday.

I think the thread should remain as we are still in a very fluid situation and as I understand it, assuming Brexit does happen, that could be anywhere between now and the 31st October. So maybe best not to count any chickens yet! On the plus side it does look as if those going to Europe during the popular May/June period can perhaps look forward to things being much the same as they are now.

Just for future reference our Green Card(S) arrived today one for car one for caravan with caravan make and model. According to the Guardian the Government has "stood down" six thousand civil servants involved in the no deal scenario read into it what you will.

Am I correct in saying -
Unless we fail to take part in the European elections, no deal can't happen before 31st Oct?
Or have I missed episode 77

The issues will be ongoing, WTG, as leaving on 31 Oct is not set in stone and we could go at any time. I’d leave things be as far as this thread is concerned.

But WTG are you not just adding to that chatter with this sort of post which should more correctly be sent direct to the Community Manager? I think you have to realise that we have a very, very small team of moderators on this forum which we undertake on a voluntary basis. Club Together is not the only focus of our lives! I will delete posts in this thread which I feel are not directly on topic as I see them but I don't have time to wade through 300 or so posts.
Just to remind people this thread is about adding information and questions about the possible ramifications of Brexit as they affect people travelling to Europe before or after Brexit. Clever quips and posts not dealing directly with the subject matter will be removed.

WTG I am sailing on 27th April. I already had 2 green cards and was holding off IDPs till April 12th - I am not getting IDPs based on what I think has happened this week - 31st Oct.
My post yesterday, asking as you are if I'm correct in doing so, or did I miss something, has been removed
Moderator Comment - You post has been slightly edited and restored.

I leave in 2 weeks time and return mid June. I assume I need an IDP in case we come out before I get back. 22nd of May keeps being mentioned on various news channels as possible leave date to avoid European elections. Or will there be a transition period?

I'm beginning to wonder if the thread title is a non sequitur. A bit cross as, unless they crack on and sort it out, I've had a pointless journey and shelled out £5.50 for an IDP that I now don't need.

We travel in 3 weeks time, IDP's already bought, Green Card still to get as Saga asked us to wait a few weeks, when we asked about it a few weeks ago. OH will give them a call in the next couple of days to find out if we should carry one as we will not be back until the end of June.

So far as I can see from the info available we could be out any time up to 22 May or, if not, then anytime up to 31 Oct.
Not sure how you define ‘it will be clear’ but glad I did not bother being organised and already having my IDP and Green Card as our friends that we will meet up with in June have done.
We are lucky as we depart after 22 May.

Challenge-Not sure how you read it that way?? I said we were lucky as we leave after the 22nd May which, if I understand the current situation-and that’s a big if-is the date after which we will know if the UK are to participate in the EU elections.
If we do then I will not bother with IDP.
The phrase ‘you define’ was meant to encompass all of us in the situation where ‘clear’ deadlines have already been passed meaning it’s anything but clear what will happen next.

Telephone call to car insurers (Saga) Green Card ordered for car and caravan should arrive in 7 - 10 days.
Full details taken for the caravan so not sure if its going to be a separate green card or combined one, time will tell.
It has however been issued for the duration of the car insurance which will cover both of our planned trips for this year all countries we are planning to visit are also listed.
Paperwork all ready and organised now for the off can't wait to be on the road once again.

When i enquired of my insurers, they wanted the actual dates that i'd be travelling to & from !! Having not looked too far up front i could'nt tell them that !! .

When we asked about the Green Card a month ago that is what we were told, they wanted the dates of the ferry crossing.
However today they said as to the uncertainty of what is going to happen and when it will/maybe happen they have decided to issue the green card for the duration of the car insurance.

Received an email from our MH insurers yesterday. Stating no green card would be required, until possibly the 31st October. If we reach a deal before then still no green card required, according to the email. The only scenario that would require one is if we fail to take part in the elections and are ejected after the 22nd May. This would seem unlikely.
