I beg to ask a couple of b****ing obvious questions.

1 why make a statement in the book to call for printed list without offering a date available from?

Cynic says, not yet sorted properly too late to include for printing deadline in/with the directory, reason not included this year. Further delayed by messing with it all 😉. I accept the prices will be out of date once in the directory life, but a list with the directory would probably not be as expensive as separately if every member wants one. Are they looking to more than one increase in the directory?? I've not looked at ours yet, too many other tasks before hoping to have some clear space in next fee days. Not looking to book anything before the after Easter but we might manage a quick spur of the moment trip if we get a chance.

2 does the reply you received mean you've been added to the list to receive a copy or you've to apply again? If that was full text it certainly lacks clarity on status as my number one criticism.

As I commented our our postman when I opened the door to assist him with the amount he needed to get through our letter box that day "why on earth do they choose the busiest time of the year to send it out?" He shrugged and said beats me!

Surely now things have changed from the 'original' frenzy day, the club created a false one as they feared they'd miss it too much on almost on the same day 😂😂 timing could be tweaked to just after Christmas when the pressure is less on the postal staff. In fact come to think of it when the frenzy day existed you still booked blind price wise?? If not the directory is really late this year.

Maybe the club thinks that folks don't care what the cost is? They think we members will just pay up regardless.....................

I like a printed list of prices preferably in the same page as site details. Even with a tablet it's not the same as sitting with a cuppa and flicking between pages. I am NOT averse to tech so please don't tar me with that brush. Tech is great when you have all the stars in alignment, but the written word only requires light for access 😉

No I realise that and it's a pity the printed version via the postal application wasn't available at the same time as the on line version.

My thoughts too, B2. In answer to your other posts

1 They pointed out that the list was available to download!! Why then is it not available in printed form to be sent out?

2 I did ask if I had to re-apply and am waiting for them to get back to me.

that's the bit I find hardest to reconcile. They want us to invest in printer, ink and paper to do this and one would assume they have access to the same at HO or a printer's so surely they too only have to press a button???

Ps tongue in cheek I worked central and local government almost all my working life so have first hand experience of joined up thinking 😂😂😂😂

Nellie you are the classic example of a proper year long tourer, all so well and good if you planned a call at home to collect new site directory and prices. Not knowing how long despatch will take plus postage you cant even request delivery to a site.

I have downloaded it to my laptop but I'll be damned if I'm going to use my printer ink and paper to print the damn thing off, that's what my £52 a year membership should be covering, so like others I will request a copy  (via the internet of course), to be sent to me, they can pay for the printing and the stampwink

I've had the same e mail nellie and I was also wondering whether I need to re apply for a printed copy when available.

I was just debating whether to e mail them when I saw your posting. So, should I wait and see if you get any sense out of them and you come back to us on this thread, or do I and probably many dozens of other members who have requested a printed copy bombard them with e mails asking for clarification on the point?

if you have something down loaded to a laptop/device, why would you need a printed version too? That'd be like printing off each page of a Kindle so you could read it like a book 😉

MM that is the whole point. I've downloaded the price list, all 40 pages of it in full glorious colour, and I'm not inclined to use my paper and ink to print it off when we should be getting a printed version posted to us. I might consider printing it off if it were in a printer friendly form, but not otherwise. After all, out of our £52 a year membership fee I don't think a printed version included with the handbook or magazine for those who want it is going to break the bank.

By the way, I like your Rawtenstall PS2!smile

That just shows how daft they are at Grimstead Towers. If one accepted the idea of the pricing being produced separately and only available 'on request',  (1) It presupposes a computer, (2) an internet connection,(3) the availability of a printer.

Even if all those criteria are fulfilled, it appears that the design and layout provides a load of extraneous content that has no relevance to the function of the document.

Time for us all to don our yellow vests, methinks.

I've just had a look at the opposition, theirs is just three pages long, clearly marked out in price bands and seasons. CAMC operates a very complicated pricing system that could be streamlined and condensed. The photos might look pretty but they aren't needed at all and they'll use up a lot of printing ink!

I find C&CC pricings more fiddly to work out and I simply see price towards the end of the booking process

ET I am not sure anyone can work out the CCC pricing structure,The "Easyjet" approach where they have a minimum and maximum price within the different banding depending how busy the site is.

Probably cost the Club more to print out as well for all those who cannot possibly manage without a hard copy.

When I am booking with the C&CC I just look at the bottom line!

    we a

l know that these lists are quickly out of date, however, irrespective of what the book/PDF says, if you've booked prior to 5th December and your stay is for later than that, the warden will have to fiddle about at the till to ensure you get the price you booked at, as the invoice will be for the latest prices not the ones active when you booked...

the club has known about this (to my mind, serious) issue since the 'book early' cock up on Dec 5th but appears to have done nothing about it....they even released the Dec 19 availability and therefore sailed gaily onward into another year of incorrect prices.

this means we are already stuck with the till 'correction' process upto Dec 4th '19, if they didn't make the correction before those Dec '19 prices mentioned above were released a week or so back, then (unless they find some way of correcting booking historically....) that issue going to be still around  until Dec 4th '20....

JVB said recently that he had already made a booking for Jan '20, this will show the correct price today, but (as with last time) the My Bookings page will 'magically' increase the price when they change on Dec 5th '19 and JVB's invoice will show the increased prices meaning the wardens will, then have to do their retrospective adjustment....

this will apply to all bookings right upto dec5th '20 booked prior to Dec 5th '19.

...and if it's not addressed (correctly) before the Dec '20 availability is released, that will be yet another year of revised price lists at the till....upto the end of '21

the club doesn't seem to have grasped the disconnect they now have between a rolling 12 month booking system and a single point annual price change....

perhaps they are happy to have indefinite retrospective till adjustments....?

Congratulations to the wondrous committee who have devised the pricing system for the new sites directory. Where can one find the actual price for any particular site on any particular night for TWO people without going on line or sending away for a pricing guide .Why has the system been altered after being used successfully since my membership began in 1988. Surely pricing should be a relevant feature of a sites directory.

Perhaps it is time for us to move on....

I'm not sure why anyone who has a pad or a phone, and takes them touring, would ever want to print it.  If a hard copy is your preferred format, it would be much simpler to request one to be sent. Even if I decided to print it, I would only print the bits where I was touring.

OK admittedly they should have had them available now, not sometime in January, but the implications of not having it until then is likely to affect very few members.

It is a shame the Club don't allow editing of the site price PDF. That way you could cut out all the photos and other information which would considerably reduce the size of the print. If it were possible what I would do is to copy and paste just the price information into a Word document where I could reduce the size a bit more and that would make for an even smaller print.

    David

    PS

Did anyone notice that the main photo is the same one as on the front of the site directory but they have edited out the name of the flowers? Obviously someone has been reading Club Together!!!

But I don't see why you need a paper version if you have it down loaded to a laptop/etc.

The bus was parked up outside the barrier to Burrs Caravan site a few years ago. I think it was ferrying people from/to the East Lancs Railway station in Bury town centre.

Not by the look of the latest magazine which states the Vikings landed in Minehead in the 18th century and the Minehead site has a photo of the Knaresborough Wanderer Restaurant attached. It is now surpassing the "Grauniad"  I think? winklaughing
