I can't understand why this hasn't reached 250 posts already - has no one read about the change in the booking system?  Usually plenty of people dive in to say 'Leave things as they are, it's all fine' - so where are the whoops and hollers from those who wanted the booking system changed?

Personally it will make no difference to me as we only book weeks ahead rather than months. The disappointment to me is that the change in the booking system didn't encompass a wider change like the ability to book a hardstanding or any other surface. An opportunity missed in my book. It will be interesting to see how many people make use of the facility.

Well I, for one, think it will be an improvement, Val, not that we'll make much use of it. But for the one annual event where we would like a specific site for the early May Bank Holiday, I know I won't be competing against folk who are also trying to book Easter, July/August, October half term etc which would have been the case on the old frenzy day.

Mind you that's still no guarantee that we'll actually succeed! smile

It’s not actually compulsory to book a year in advance, GW. smile

Like you and others have said, it’ll make no difference to me but what a joy it will be not to hear the moans about frenzy day. laughing

I take the opposite view, many on here think that the CAMC ways  are the ultimate and nothing that others do come anyway near the long held ways of the CAMC. So the question is how do they come to terms with the obvious acceptance by the CAMC management that there can be  lessons to be learned. What will be next -  copying the C&CC with escorted pitching and  industrial sized waste bins emptied by contractors?

Rowntree Park 5 mins ago is showing total availability every single day in Jan, Feb and Mar. Baltic Wharf is showing no availability for the same

Personally I think it’s a good idea and I’m in favour. It’s got rid of frenzy day, you can book up to a year ahead, which will suit some people with children, work, family, commitments etc. And if some people aren’t happy they can still just wait until Dec 5th and book then 😂

Erm, they already do industrial sized waste bins emptied by contractors, but they are tidily camouflaged so as to not offend visiting members.....laughing

(Please excuse my huge smile, I have a booking on Rowntree Park for my birthday next year, and am so enjoying the thought still. It might of course flood, but at the moment that unknown pitch, that frisson of an unknown adventure, lingers with me still!wink)

Chatsworth seems to be fully booked in 2019 for all but the last  2 weeks of March. I assume it is a glitch?

How many are actually anti the change? From what I see most people are pretty much take it or leave it and that includes me. I’m happy if it helps some as it seems this is what they want. It won't make any difference to me as I only book a few weeks in advance, sometimes much less.

I now notice there are no prices for the period 4/1/19 to 14/3/19. So perhaps the site is closed for work to be carried out. Although it says open all year.🤔

Steve, if i remember correctly, isn't 4th January the changeover date on the old system (I've been caught on this before in trying to book a full week at new year......) and it may be that 'someone' just hasn't got round to adding the new system dates through to March as on other sites....?

....I haven't checked them all (why would I?) but there may be a few others missing or just this one....I'm sure Ro will check it out....smile

I'm trying to think but we on here know about these changes but has it been announced in the club magazine yet?

I had no problem booking York & Chester for January/February visits but Chatsworth must not have been updated for some reason or is it closing for work to be done?

The change was announced on page 3 March magazine by the Editor with operative date to come later.

I did not think I would find it a better system but I do.

We rarely book anywhere more than a few days in advance (especially as we are retired and can come and go as we please)  but if it gives working parents etc the option to book busy periods eg sch hols then it has to be good. Is the next step the availability to book hard standings? Personally, I don't want them...until it is wet!

While trying to find out whether there is planned work at Chatsworth I found more information about the change to the booking system under Membership/improving your club.

Some sites already have. Impossible for short arses or anyone not a weightlifter to use, so stuff gets left on the ground for the crows/seagulls/dogs/foxes/badgers/children to play with.

Quite a few of the sites are like Corners, think its probably the fact they don't have any grass pitches wink why they are displayed that way who knows.

Edinburgh is a bit strange and/or unique in the club that it has five different booking pitches sections, grass with and without awning, HS with and with out awning and service pitches, but it seems the grass pitches are full or more likely out of service? And if that wasn't enough you can arrive from 9amsmile

Out of curiosity I looked at other Scottish sites, choice of Grass or Hard-standing at Culloden 87 in total 12 of them grass and Maragowan 95 in total 13 grass, the grass choice blanked out just now so assume out of commission.

Some sites just say awning or non awning like New England Bay which has only 16 H/S out of 155 pitches but no choice of type.

Some sites it just states Hardstanding Awning or non awning so guessing all site must be H/S

Clearly one has to be very careful if they want to avoid grass.

"Clearly one has to be very careful if they want to avoid grass."

I've been very careful given the poor weather recently......

Just packing the van this afternoon ready for off in the morning......

Three sites booked over the forthcoming week........

One is Camping Club, two are commercials, all allow me to pre-book a H/S......

Its only about £180 the club have lost, peanuts to them I know......undecided

Can I ask if you would have chosen a club site if a HS booking was available?

Yes, had 2 club sites booked from Frenzy day or thereabouts....

One a mixed site grass & H/S, the other all grass.

Site 1 C& CC had a nearby site to the CC one and allow pre booking of H/S, so have done thanks.....and from memory it was a pound a night cheaper for what that's worth....

Site 2 -CC- all grass- as the date has approached, and it's rained regularly, have cancelled the CC site & re-booked with a commercial site that could actually be bothered to toss a bit of gravel down for me to park on, and a bit closer to town.....

The site we are on is nearly full this weekend,on the available pitches

Nearly, so it's not full then..?wink

Available,  grass pitches out of service then..?

Often said on here, if what the Club is offering doesn't suit you, go elsewhere.  Five or ten years ago I wouldn't of bothered looking elsewhere, but the club has failed IMO to keep pace with customer expectations of choice, and is well behind the curve in providing all weather surfaces that take into account peoples desire to use their leisure vehicles over a longer season.

It makes little  odds to me where I spend my cash, but as a loyal fan of the CC I am a little sorry to see them lose my cash, and yes I know, the sites are full so they don't care, but if they used our cash to invest in providing more pitches and choice of H/S, they might get even more cash coming in......?

But not everyone wants to park on gravel .....
