my wife and I and cat are now in a position to travel through Europe and our dream is to get to Tenerife. We have a 16 year old motorhome  no air con we have had from new and caravaned before this for 11 years totalling 1600 nights done most of the U.K. Ireland twice , Isle of Man and the isle of Skye . But would appreciate any advice experiences you have encountered . We plan to be away  a long time with no plans on returning . Travelling through different countries what they require us to have on board. Info on gas , money , Aires, ferries, probably use c/mh insurance,

probably a load more info needed but at least this will get us started planning on going September 2018

thanks

youll get loads of help here...so just one bit of advice from me...

if you're using aires and the odd non-site spot, youll need to have a decent gas supply, and unless you can carry loads with you, it wont last 'a long time' so....options are.....loads of different bottles and adaptors in all the different countries.....no...or an LPG refillable system with a couple of adaptors to cover the whole of europe...

many thread on hers but in summary, refillables can be either an underslung tank (good option if gas locker size is limited) or a bottle(s) in a gas locker...these are available from Gaslow, Gasit etc....and are fixed systems with a proper filler hole in the side skirt or similar.

there is also the option of a non fixed bottle from Safefill where the bottle is removed and taken to a LPG filling station...this might be a bit cheaper than a fixed system but you may find a bit more 'resistance' to filling a stand alone bottle on a forecourt (here or abroad) than a system with a 'proper' filler...

FYI, if ypur locker is big enough, an 11kg Gaslow costs only £20 or so more than a single 6kg and will double your capacity, whereas a twin 6kg bottle system will cost much, much more than a single 11kg giving apprx same capacity.

    good luck...

Don’t carry too much cash, use something like a Halifax Clarity credit card, no commission, commercial exchange rate and safer than carrying cash.

Insurance may be a problem as you will be seeking 12 month cover at least as you say you have no plans to return. I'm assuming that you do in fact intend to return one day but do not want to be tied down to a date.

Similarly, if you have a home and have it insured you will find resistance to providing you with cover, so don't be surprised.
