Camping Cheque T&Cs
Hi all interested parties:
Major changes to Camping Cheques (CCx) and Gold/Silver Cards in January:
Last January I tried to renew my Gold Card, as I had a number of cheques left on it and enough bonus points to renew without any cash payment. However, I was informed that was not possible due to changes that were underway, so CCx extended the life of my card to end August 2017, then the same thing happened in August and my card was extended to 31 Dec 17. I have just rang the CCx office in France and was informed that due to major changes to the Camping Cheque T&Cs next year it was not possible to renew my card. Apparently, there will be major changes announced mid-Jan 18 and these will be explained on their web site. I was informed that I could still use my current cheques until Dec 18 even though I dont have a valid account and to contact them again later on in January to obtain a new card. Watch this space!

There have been major changes in the last year, in that there will be no paper cheques after 2018, some sites are now offering rental units (mobile homes/cabins/etc) and not touring pitches, and the rates per site are now in different bands. This is all chaotic! Basically if you buy cheques now you are not buying a 'night on a pitch' as you used to do, but simply a contribution amounting to the cost of the cheque towards the actual cost of the pitch, or more lilkely mobile home.
I can't imagine what the changes might be - part of me hopes that they are taken over by ACSI who will honour the cost of any outstanding cheques............ but I rather feel things are likely to become more complicated rather than less.
This year there are less sites being offered for 2018 than there have ever been - just 430 sites in total (though their website states 600 this may not have been updated) - and again many of them aren't offering touring pitches.

They aren't officially available yet, and usually the website is updated by this time of year but it's still showing the old sites and old dates. is there a particular site you're interested in, Martatin? I might be able to help. You could email me on valdaathome@gmail.com

Thanks Val
Getting 4 camping cheques this year as part of my Ferry booking. So was wondering if I could use them on my travels. Sounds like I should use them sooner rather than later. Areas I will be in are Rouen, Narbonne, Provence then Annecy. Unless you have any recommendations will wait for their website to be updated then see if any sites suitable.

Answer - None!
We took camping cheques for first time ever as not many sites in Germany accepting vouchers and ITX fare cheaper than without taking them! Still we'll either be able to use them in full, in part or not at all! However we still would have them as we saved money.

I suppose that over the years I had 60 or 70 of those Cheques as part of ferry deals - drove out of my way to sites I didn't really want to go to and didn't really like and managed to use half a dozen of them that way, then sold or gave away or threw away the rest. Good bye Camping Cheques.
