Free Maps and SatNav

I am not sure whether this has been mentioned but there is a free app. called maps.me which has mapping software and navigation. We were in South Africa last month and didn’t have a SatNav nor a phone contract so this was very useful. You need to download the country or area that you intend to visit using a normal WiFi connection. I found the maps extremely accurate both for driving and on foot around towns when used with my iPhone. The navigational Guidance was a bit more variable; the verbal commands kept dropping out and there were some strange instructions, for example, when exiting a motorway on the slip road it would say “straight on”, but given that it was free and the accuracy of the mapping we found it invaluable.
