Eurotunnel name change - 'GetLink'
Eurotunnel have announced a name change, ahead of Brexit, for what they say is a more 'Anglo-Saxon' name - GetLink!
This is a 'corporate' exercise only - and apparently bookings will continue to be done as Eurotunnel.

I like this comment from another forum:
They had tried various forms of the word
Gatlink.....rejected for being likely to be confused with the airport
Getlink..... eventual winner
Gitlink.....too close to the actual thought behind title
Gotlink.....sounded like a German religious order
Gutlink..... left a nasty smell in the room
Gwwwddtlink.... disgusting action in Welsh

Anglo-Saxons?. . . .Mainly Germanic peoples with The Dutch & Danish in the mix, good luck with the cunning ‘getting it out of Europe’ scheme

GET is simply the abbreviation of the existing name of the company- Groupe Euro Tunnel.

I wonder how many people will continue, so far as they are concerned, to be a member of the CC and use Eurotunnel?

I agree that it is an awful name. Surely Eurotunnel has far more romance about it, come to think of it the Tyne Tunnel has more romance about it!!!
I don't suppose for one minute that people will stop using it. Perhaps I could like the name more if they lowered their fares!!!

In the Guardian yesterday they said the renaming only applied to the parent group and you will still be booking "Le Shuttle" via the Eurotunnel website.

All the romance has gone out of the ferries - standing on deck watching the white cliffs. Now it’s all slot machines and school parties running havoc.
Tunnel for me whatever the cost and whatever the name.
