Fingers crossed that the NEC show will be on this year, ABM.  If it is, we'll have to have a little CT get together.  However, I can't afford to lose that driving licence I am still waiting for by being tempted to drink on the job!! 😃😃  (My current licence expired on May 11th... new one applied for in February, and still nothing!!  Driving under section 88 of the Road Traffic Act at the moment!!!)

Quite like some of the Aldi Prosecco, in particular.

Mrs WN nipped into Tesco yesterday for a couple of essentials. Fortunately wine was counted as one of them and she brought back a rather nice Chilean Merlot, "Bicicleta"

She only bought the one as we hadn't tried it before but we might need to make a return trip soon.

This was a substitute in our food delivery, we were going to try some Somerset Wraxall Bacchus, a vineyard near us. Anyway Chapel Down Bacchus from Kent  arrived instead, very nice, similar to a sauvignon. Intended as a treat on our abandoned trip thanks to Covid so being enjoyed at home.

I like the Chapel Down wines - especially "Bacchus with a hint of Sparkle". But even more so their Pinot Noir Gin. Perfect.

I would be interested to hear what folk think of Luminoso Leggero Prosecco LV.  I recently bought some as part of a Laithwaites order.  With the Laithwsites 'discount' it comes out at £7.99.  I'm sure it would be on the sweet side for many, but I quite liked it.  It was also only 8%.  I think I might order some of this again next time around.

My doctor asked me how much I was drinking, so I asked what I was allowed. He said If you drink less than your doctor you are OK. But he wouldn’t say what he drank.

So I told him about the day we sat down for lunch at L’Estagnol just outside the market hall in Narbonne. Usually we were a little bit late (it was 12.20) and the elderly couple at the next table were part way through their main course. They had finished their first bottle of red and were signalling the waiter for a second.

Eight glasses of vino collapso per bottle, by that point and after many years of social imbibing our doctor had a heart attack (true story.) Just after he retired...🍷💼

You must drink from very small glasses. I get about four or five out of my bottles.

Yes, glasses have got bigger...that was the standard measurement when I helped out in a pub in my youth. But I still work on that measurement if needed. (I knew someone would tell me otherwise....wink) No wonder bar drinks cost such a lot!

For the last month I have been on a diet, so no wine bought. Just got the credit card bill, flipping heck our Tesco bill has reduced! Now thinking about all the 1bs/pounds.

Sorry to take so long to react, only just seen this.

Yes, excellent range and quality from the Wine Society. Been a member for 40 years.

Very reliable, great list, great customer service.

No minimum annual purchase, no fees (except buying your initial share in the cooperative).

Great quality, great customer service and, of course, great wine.

    Peter Cartledge. 98*2*.

I buy my wine from an organisation called Pieroth - their Parliament of Owls and Chevalier de Bayard are superb. No agressive marketing. Slightly more expensive than Aldi etc but, in my humble opinion, the wine is far superior

Has anyone tried the Selone from Lidl?  My brother-in-law served us a glass on our recent visit.  Not at all bad....

We don't often drink White wine but just sitting here with a glass of Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc after having a Turkey Roast dinner for Easter Sunday. Forgotten how nice this wine was, especially as we bought it with soon to expire vouchers from Tesco.

I like a Muscadet sur Lie when in France and a Tokay Pinot Gris when up in Alsace area but will mostly stick to Red.

This though is a lovely treat, one we must repeat soon.

I like a Sauvignon WN but today we enjoyed a rose from Portugal. Sitting outside in the garden with our lunch, it was a Nico de Pegoes, nice and light. smile
