If they have such a global client base, it seems strange that they would decide to restrict future membership based on residence.

The only thing that has been restricted is that no new members admitted from outside Germany.  Existing Members, as long as they pay subscription every year, are covered.

As Adac members for a number of years, This year we have bought a new car that has 12 months European cover, I contacted ADAC and they have sent me a renewal for just the bare minimum cost so that I can preserve my Membership. All being well i will fully renew my membership next year

We've just renewed our ADAC cover too, no problems, same procedure as in previous years.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, however both myself and son have just received letters from ADAC informing us that as of next year's renewal, we will be downgraded to basic ADAC membership due to not residing in Germany.

was thinking of asking friends if I can use their address in Germany, as it now appears that this is the only way to retain PLUS membership. However I doubt that they would recover a vehicle or repatriate us to a UK address once you register a German address.
