The club installed a new play area at Ferry Meadows, I was not consulted and I bet that cost as much as the new logo if not more.  If I was consulted then I may have objected.  The club does not have to consult everyone on everything it does, in fact if it did nothing would happen as we all want different things.  The board are charged with moving the club forward, increasing membership, facilities etc. and are elected to make decisions.

Uniform, fences etc. can be renewed as they wear out or get repainted in the mainainence cycle, no doubt HO have been running down stocks of old stationary in readiness for the change so overall the cost is not huge and will be taken up as a revenue expense in the normal course of things.

Nor me! I don't get emails reminding me of forthcoming bookings, surveys after stays, or even asking my views on  possible rebranding! (Laughing smiley)

Also very rare to have it piped to your pitch, most sites I have been on it means going to an area around reception or the bar, not a big deal but the cost of installing all the masts on site must cost.  Personally we bought the £25 annual option and do not think that too much of a cost but I do think they need to get the providers to up their game in the bandwidth available, even a 4G signal on site would offer a better solution than some of the slow speeds you get in the countryside via BT.

What a sad day. After 110 years the club has changed its name without any mention in the magazine to get the members views. As it's already been said it's a world recognised name, a respect name and now its binned in favour of political correctness. To me, and I expect a lot of people it will always be the Caravan Club.

I look forward to reading about the pitching rules, which are geared to car, caravan and awning being revised to something appropriate for Motorhomes and Campervans. undecided

I don't recall being consulted and it has the potential to be a dreaful waste of money.

I worked for an organisation for 40 years, it was called the Post Office; one day we were told that the business was to be re-branded as Consignia, at a cost of £5M. How long did that last? It cost even more to "un-brand" it back. We always found it ironic that the new logo looked exactly like a pliu-hole; which were all the money went.

This new Club logo is dire in the extreme.

Rebranding?  waste of money.  If motorhomers don't realise the Caravan Club is for them, too bad.  What it will do, most probably, is to discourage tent owners to join/continue membership of the club.  If the name of the club had to be changed, why were they not included?

The first I heard of the change was receipt of the stickers - which I nearly binned, until curiosity made me come on line to check.  Was the membership consulted?

No, they're going to catch the ferry to France where they can get a pitch almost wherever and whenever they want without booking, (August excepted), and where they can pitch whichever way round they want and, in many cases have a fully serviced pitch at no extra charge.

    Thanks for the rebranding? NOT

Who is paying for the re branding?

How much will it cost the Club? / each member?

Motorhomes are already integrated within the Club.

If we are to change why haven't we not included Trailer tents? etc.etc.

I am all in favor of progression, but hang on why not put these costs  to reducing the Clubs main site fees, i'ts OK keeping them at last years prices, but pensioners on a fixed budget can't afford to use the Clubs sites as often as they would like.

I am sure I am not the only member with these views.

Been a member for 47 years and thinks it was ok as it was.

The money could have been spent a lot better.

Have to be honest and say that when we received the email advising us that the club was changing name our first reaction was that of disappointment and sadness.

Whilst we have nothing against motohomes, we feel the change of name has taken away the nostalgia and recognition the name 'The Caravan Club' bought. I'm sure if you mentioned the name to a non-caravaner they would know who you were talking about and also, the name is familiar to people in many countries and feel this recognition has now been taken away! I'm sure the motorhome fraternity would have been more than happy continuing there membership under the old name....If it ain't broke don't mend it!

However, this does not mean we will not be renewing our membership but it will be interesting to see how many members the club loses because of this which will be a shame!

    Regards

I was assuming the new books, although in storage, will have the new logo, perhaps I am wrong. If they had decided on it that long ago they could always have put the stickers in as part of the process. However, that would have required planning.🤐

It would seem rather pointless if any do leave as a result. As long as the CAMC provide what you want, it does not really matter what the logo looks like.

Got letter telling about the rebranding this morning but no new stickers. If they are coming separate, then that's a letter, stickers and new book all posted separately, what a waste of money.

I enjoy change and can understand why the club wants a more inclusive approach for motorhomers(who personally irritate me)  but are increasing in number!   However I feel the Club could have been more open with its intentions.  No mention at AGM I believe.  To find out by email yesterday is rather insulting. Logo looks a bit like new railway franchise but impossible job to please us all.  Ah well, first Brexit then Trump and now this!!! 😋
