But you have to feed a cold bruelaughinglaughing know what you mean though, I was doing well until the kids and Gkids turned up. Oh well its only once a year so I'll just start again after they've gone.

Lovely sunny day for a few hours so went to see Mum, even more improvement than a few days ago she is doing very well.

Then it was time to return to the mad house (home) spot of lunch then we went out for a walk up to the Hermitage at Dunkeld. DIL has gone to try and sort out her differences with her mother. Hope it doesn't blow up again, as she has to drive down the road to Wiltshire tomorrow with her  youngest on her own, (got to go back to work and school) our son is staying up for a few days more with their daughter.  They've been gone a few hours, not sure if that's a good sign or notundecided

Grandson has requested chicken curry for tea so I guess I'd better go and make it.

Happy New Year one and all.

Today is the last full day of our Christmas/New Year break and the first day of our 2018 holiday season :)  We clocked up 61 nights in 2017, not sure we will quite manage that amount this year.

So we've spent the day starting to pack up, mirrors on car and clean down the caravan.  Considering we've had 10 days of rain and Cirencester is like a mud bath it doesn't look too bad.

Also booked the 1st year service and sent in photo's of some items that need sorting on warranty.

So the final job is to put the beef joint into the oven, prep the salmon starter and enjoy the evening.

Catherinef what a lovely post. It's the same feeling here. Last night on site before work beckons on Wednesday 😐. Chicken curry in the oven and the wine has been opened. Enjoy your last night. 2018 caravan holidays await 😊🍷

Specially for you Oneputt, the full moon rising just now in Somerset. It is a very beautiful sight and thankfully sets at the back of our home so not too bright when we try to sleep. I see it is called a Wolf Moon (just looked it up) followed by a Blue Moon later in the month.

Yep, there is something wrong with site at moment, v....e.....r.....y  s......l.......o..........w and constant buffering, multi clicks required to achieve anything.

I am off to pastures fleeter and more user friendly, if you get my drift!

    undecided

I did see it briefly, on my way up the M1 from picking the Grandkids up from Warwick, although it soon disappeared again behind a cloud bank.

It looked impressive when I saw it.

Malcolm, I am a little confused. Have they done away with the hedge at Baltic Wharf?  When we were there we could see very little of the harbour from the site, even in winter. We could tell when the Matthew went past as we could see the top of the masts, but that was about all.

We have had a lovely start to the New Year - a walk in Fineshade Woods with son, DIL, 2 grandsons and the dog. We all got very muddy!! It was strange to seeToplodge CAMC all closed and empty for the winter. We followed this with a New Year drink in the pub. Now sitting in front of the fire watching 'Grandpa's Great Escape' .

I do hope your DIL made friends with her Mum tammygirl.  She won't want to start the year with bad feeling, especially as she has to drive south tomorrow.

I hope you and your OH manage to get an appointment with your GP brue and can get some medication. Don't eat too much of that Christmas cake.  😂

Glad that you managed to find seat following your walk, Moulesy. We had to make do with a couple of rocks on the Beeley Moor for ours!! At least it was sunny and dry but rather chilly for our first walk of the New Year. Happy New year to you, Mrs M, Harry and Lady.

Last night was our 261st and final night in our caravan for 2017 and tonight will be the first of 2018, and hopefully we'll manage to be away for a similar number this year.

Hope that everyone manages to stay healthy and get away as often as they can.

    Happy New Year to all.

We had a good meal and evening with DD and her husband, they have just left to go home, taking with them the unit I made for them, they seemed pleased with the result.

Other than peeling the potatoes, I was banned from the kitchen, so have had a restful day.  However, I still feel not at all great so am about to head to bed.

OH has done all the cooking, and is now left with all the clearing up, so I  do feel a bit guilty about that.I will need to make up for it when I feel better.

That is an impressive picture. Is there a knack to taking pictures of the moon? When I have tried I have failed miserably even with a tripod. Would I be right in thinking you would have to manually focus the picture?

Millie, pleased to say they stayed at their house for quite awhile and seemed to have left friends again. Our son is very relieved as he was worried about her driving down the road upset and not concentrating. I think it will take awhile longer for the hurt feelings to go away but at least its a start.

The hedge is still there, SteveL buts it's bare so you can see through it. Also when yachts sail by, their masts are above the hedge.

Context posting typing this on Tuesday 2 January just after 3pm here in NZ. Sitting in shorts and sleeveless top under the sun canopy listening to the pattern of rain on it as a storm rumbles around, been VERY dry here everything brown farmers struggling after wet winter too. Drought broke yesterday but it's warm. Air clears for a bit then humidity rises and more rumbling. Sorry I have skimmed posts and will not dwell on weather 😉😉😉

Arrived after long flights, both delayed 😢😢. Landed Auckland 0045 instead of 2330, poor folks waiting to board our aircraft, that'll be us in 3 months 😲. No time to stretch legs inbetween flights either. Collected one case only to find loads had been left at Kuala Lumpur. Got a tip off that last baggage loaded onto belt 0130 so were 2nd in the queue to report. Finally got to hotel 0245. Rested as had managed lots of cat naps on both flights. OH had cough and probably most if the planes, could have had their own choirs 😲😲. Hoping not to get it.

Picked up car a hour or so earlier, so surprised the family. Great welcome but youngest granddughter content to wave as we do n Skype 😇😂.  That passed very quickly, apparently she' not good with men but took to OH, is a bit mummified at the mo because of teeth. They have visited our 'holiday house' campsite cabin before you get any ideas of grandeur 😂😂😂 this morning to play on grandma's swings, slide, seesaw and Wendy house named Toad Hall. We'e having an hour on our own, 1st apart from bedtime since we met Saturday morning 😂😂😂😂. No jetlag or trouble sleeping, new years eve in bed by 9pm😂😂

Case turned up yesterday whilst we were out at Rainbow Springs, great family day. All fine, everyone's getting extra things now. Luckily case that was on plane with us had my shoes in, borrowed OH shorts and grabbed a couple of tops in equivalent of Primark.  Now have own clothes toileries and make up I feel like me again.

Grateful we were somewhere we know and have daughter to scrounge from. Some folks travelling didn't get any luggage OH bag went oversize and I think that was a saviour.

Right off to do dishes now before going to daughters to put children' car seats in our car, grandparenting duties alone from 2pm tomorrow 😲😲 18 months without and 4 days refresh 😂😂😉😉😉.

Happy new year to you all.

    Wish everyone better.

My top tip, NO RESPONSE NEEDED, for new years resolution - don't follow the Malcolm school of economics too closely 😉😉

It maybe sometime before I surface on here again. Stay warm folks 😉

Edit what about this rule where luggage cannot travel without its owner???????? According to our campsite hosts and friends it's happening loads and those on the move keep missing their luggage 😤😭

For those interested it's a good steady drizzle to rain most of the time, couple of heavier showers so soaking in the parched earth nicely. Grass looking very grateful for the refresh. Should be better weather by Thursday,  that is sun 😉

Nice to see you on here, Bakers2. It's usually quite lonely on here at this time of day/night! Have a nice time in New Zealand. If you could have planned your visit a couple of days earlier, you would have been the first to see the New Year in!
