Yes KjN we find it annoying that we can't use ours in N.Ireland, Scotland or Wales.  Is it something to do with the way the finances are organised in the different countries I wonder.

No. I haven't applied for it yet. Return ticket cost £4.40 paid by contactless Tesco Credit card. So much easier than fiddling about with change! Less than £8 so no points frown.

Medical certificate now completed and posted to Pizza Hut. I'm signed off until 12th October, so it's going to be a nice long rest! Plenty of time to sit out in the relaxer and watch the world go by! Oh and plenty of time to keep posting on here, so watch out for more mundane chatter!

It's starting to get a little chilly outside, so the relaxer has now been brought back into the awning. The evening meal is cooking in the awning on the electric hob.

Another cloudy day here at New England Bay, but we have had a few glimpses of sunshine!

I injured my foot on the beach (on Monday) so have been hobbling around frown

We've had a drive out today to Ardwell Bay, which is the first time we've ever been there in the 10 years we've been coming to this area!  It's a bit off the beaten track, but what a lovely beach!

Going to try cooking pizza on the new Cadac pizza stone, hopefully 3rd time lucky, and we don't burn it again embarassed

A great day at Lackford Lakes (Suffolk Wildlife Trust),  spent about 2 hrs watching kingfisher, finally ended visit with coffee and delicious Victoria Sponge.  We were there so long we didn't make it to Grimes Graves.

PS if your planning on coming to the club site in the next couple of days be warned the local farmer must have been spraying the fields with liquid manuresealed luckily we are going home in the morning

In our region, we went to the library and it was done online while we were there, including taking our photos. Of course we had to provide proof of residency (utility bill, council tax bill etc) - will you be able to do that?

(We've never used the passes - no buses come by here - but as we don't have passports and only paper driving licences, it's good identification if needed)

I don't have any utility or council tax bills in my name so maybe I won't qualify for a free bus pass. Anyway, I would only need to use it temporarily until I can drive again so perhaps it's better not to bother. Perhaps I should just pay the fare for the time being.

Finally, the clouds have all gone and I could watch the sunset from the awning window but now it's starting to get dark and the temperatur is dropping. I think this is the first day since the start of summer when we haven't had to use the aircon!

Knee much better today, lots of ice packs, rest and painkillers. Thanks all for the good wishes.

We moved down to Chateau d'Olonne today might just be for 1 night if weather is not any better tomorrow. Very cloudy no sign of the sun today warm enough to sit outside for a cuppa though.

Malcolm, we may well head for Spain in the next week if it doesn't  pick up, we've  had a rubbish summer so need to feel the sun again.

BB, well of course it was OH's fault wink he slowed down to look at the stones. laughing swelling on knee not to bad today but I've  got some great bruises developing on both legs, thankfully not shorts weather at the moment.  How different the weather is since we were last down this way, it was 26 -28c then remember. We are going to head down to Royan area next then see from there, like you probably Spain.

Don't remember what we had to have to get ours, but would your letter of pension entitlement and the fact you are on the electoral register not be sufficient?

Worth checking out what is required.  You never know when you might be glad  of it next!

Fascinating place, OP. We've been there a few time and the N/T seem to open up new mines each time we go. BTW did you get to see the Great Bustards?

Had a lovely day. I was invited to a special surprise lunch at City College in Peterborough to celebrate the Chair of Governors 40 years in office. I am no longer a Governor so it was really  great to catch up with old friends and colleagues. I was so pleased to be invited as I worked with the Chair of Governors for 10 years.

Glad you managed to get through the road works without any problems. Good to have a long warranty and that the firm honours it. Glad all's fixed now. So you decided to use the CC's site after all.

Sorry to hear about your cycle crash, and glad that it's feeling so much better. I came off my Mountain Bike while we were at Shrewsbury on our last trip but I landed on my wrist. I was concerned about it, but didn't bother going for an x-ray as if it had been broken they would not have allowed me to drive and we still had 4 weeks of out holiday to go. So it was cold compresses, arnica cream, painkillers and a wrist bandage for 3 weeks and by then it appeared to have healed. All's seems to be fixed now thankfully.

Hey Nell, didn't get to see any Great Bustards.  I couldn't get booked on any of the official trips.  Tried to have a look at an area close to Stonehenge but with road closures and traffic chaos in the area that didn't pan out too well.  I don't suppose it will be many years before they spread out over the country.

Guess your at home at the moment, are you planning your next trip.

Yes, unfortunately the CLs which had space were the ones quite close to the motorways, so got the thumbs down from the boss. We had a bad experience with road noise a few years back, so anything within a mlle of a Mway is banned!  Does not bother me, I can sleep anywhere, but OH is a very light sleeper.

Should have booked sooner, but the trip was not certain to go ahead fully until the day we left as I was waiting to get the results of some tests.  All was fine, but too late to get onto the quieter sites.

The grass pitches here are firm, so no problems so far, just hope it stays that way!

Malcolm, we have two cars and both drive. However, it is nice to let the bus driver do the work occasionally. 😀 It can save on parking charges and is very useful visiting towns from sites when you are on holiday. We also use it for a one way journey from a site and then walk back. Some circular walks are just too long these days.☹️

Some years ago, I remember spending a week on the Costa Del Sol in the middle of February. There were blue skies and sunshine everyday and warm without being too hot. When the plane landed back in Gatwick, it was freezing cold and snowing!

The only snag is that buses tend to go round the houses rather than go directly from A to B and keep stopping for bus stops. So it can take a lot longer to get from A to B than by car. Also you might not have the same degree of climate control on a bus as you do with an air-conditioned car!

Just got up to a rather grey and overcast morning with the front window of the caravan covered in raindrops. We're just having our first cup of tea. Watched some breakfast tv, ITVs Good Morning Britain about Prince George's first day in school and Hurricane Irma being the main stories.

Still getting pain in both hands so I've taken some more painkillers. I think I'll be sitting in the awning this morning. It looks too grey and wet to sit outside on the lawn but at least I'll be able to read the papers which I can collect from the warden after 09:00.

Nine more nights here before we go for our two days away to the Burlington Hotel on the Worthing sea front.  Then back again here for another 21 nights.

How nice to be invited back Millie, glad you enjoyed seeing everyone.

We are on the move today travelling up the Tweed (we lived in the area for four years) then on to Perthshire. Early start to fit it all in. smile

We just finished our breakfast of Weetabix with sultanas followed by a bacon and egg toasted sandwich washed down with two cups of tea.

Miraculously, the weather is improving! The heavy grey clouds have gone and been replaced with white light clouds, blue sky and sunshine! Maybe I will be able to sit outside the awning after all! I'm going to try to make the most of it because in 5 weeks time I'll be back at work again. So no more sitting outside in the relaxer watching the sunset and no more evening tv! But for now, bliss!

Just packing up to make the shortish trip home.  I'll try to be quiet so as not to wake the neighbours who may have slept through the bird scorers and the F16 from Lakenheathlaughing
