Did you get a response from your local council about the tar being sprayed over your vehicles Tammygirl?

I have the Super 5Cs policy that covers for alternative accommodation. I can't find any restriction in the policy about the amount of usage. They may have asked where the caravan is parked when not in use but if you use it all year round, it's not a problem for the insurers. When you own a caravan, it's yours to use as much as you want, surely!

I think your situation is not that common Malcolm, and I would agree with B2 that the insurance offered is most probably on the basis of providing short term holiday type accommodation if something should happen when you are on holiday.

The fact that you do not have a real permanent address like most of us here have would not mean that your caravan insurance will  pay for an alternative for as long as it would take to get a new van organised.

It would be interesting to actually ask an insurer what they would cover, but not really advisable as it would alert them to the fact that you are using the van in a way they may not wish to insure.

    Likewise your car insurances.

As far as I can make out, most  "fulltimers" keep very quiet about the fact that they are full-timing for this very reason.

At the very least, If I were you, I would be making sure I had sufficient cover to replace my van plus extras, the extra cost will not be enormous, and will give you peace of mind.

Just booked a 10 night trip to the Canterbury CCC site. I’m taking my Granddaughter, and my daughter will be joining us for the second week. I’ve also organised a trip over the water to France for a couple of days for us.

We have the same policy, so, out of interest, I have had a look, the maximum period covered for alternative accommodation seems to be 15 days.

I have just posted in a TdeF thread ABM, but to be honest, it is getting worse and worse this website for posting.....slow, clunky, duplicates posts, photos reduced to postage stamp size. It's a tad like the Club, promises a lot but reality doesn't quite match up! There are better options! Plus one or two regular TdeF and General Chat participants appear to be absent......won't speculate why of course!wink

Really hot here today, spending the afternoon in my "workshop", otherwise know as the garage, machining new door linings for DD's kitchen door.

Had to venture up in the loft to  check wiring for the CH timer I have to replace, came down again ASAP as it must be over 30 degrees up there!

I may need to go  and lie down in the caravan soon, as it has air con!  wink

Beautiful day here. Glorious sun gentle breeze, almost perfect! However now got very high cloud and stonger breeze but still wonderful to sit reading in the garden. Certainly not humid as of late, we could use some rain but not desperate for it yet, so I'm not sure if the forecast storms will arrive. Actually be happy if the storms don't but rain overnight would be fantastic.

KjellNN silly place to visit on a hot day 😲. Wait until it cools down in a day or two 😉

Unavoidable unfortunately, if you mean the loft?  The frost stat is up there and the installers 29 years back had not marked which cable was which!

I have at least 6 unmarked cables hanging out of the wall, so need to get it sorted and made safe ASAP.

Nice and cool down in the garage however, good breeze.  Our second day of summer!

KjellNN not a good day for working in the loft,  but hope you get it sorted.

Boiler engineer here this morning,  replacing a valve, luckily under warranty as he said part cost in excess of £200 eek surprised he had to turn the heating on  too, got very  warm!

Had a trip back to the dentist this afternoon, thought it was only for a filling! But no, she decided tooth had to come out.surprised Now missing two teeth, just waiting for pain to start she the numbness wears off. Been sitting out in the garden, had the pleasure of watching a Red Kite gliding over the garden and houses.

Oh Helen what a nasty shock at the dentist 😲😲. Glad you've managed to sit in the garden and watch the red kite. Hopefully the pain won't be bad once the numbness wears off. Glad you've got heating sorted under warranty.

Peterborough's new Dean was announced this morning - very exciting as our last lovely Dean retired a year ago. Doubly exciting as I was on volunteer duty this morning. There were cameras everywhere but luckily there were far more important people than us volunteers for them to film and interview.😁. He did come and say hello and have a chat though and seems very nice (even though I had secretly hoped it might be a woman ☺)

We did Millie, they say its very easy to remove as its water based yell I cannot repeat on here what OH replied laughing but he did invite them to come and give it a go.

They also said that it is most unusual to have air borne spray, you would think that in blustery winds the workmen would take more care or advise folk to move their vehicles a little further away. Anyway they have agreed to pay for the tar remover costs but OH is asking for some extra for the time its taken to do 3 vehicles.

Tar easy to remove with water? Really? If it really is why have they agreed to pay for tar remover?

Does make you wonder doesn't it, to be fair it wasn't too bad to get of the cars (type of paintwork) but the motorhome is a different matter, we've been over it with tar remover, some of it has come off but not all. So we have been over it again with Silky which has removed just about all of it. The windows were a pain as you had to keep going inside to see if it had all gone. I'm sure we will be finding bits of tar for some time to come yell

Had a lovely day off today laughing decided to go to Loch Katrine as we realised that its over 5 years since we were last there. Nice and warm it was with a breeze, took bikes so cycled along the loch for about an hour, stopped for picnic lunch then cycled back. Stopped off in Calendar on the way back home, really disappointed in the town now it used to be lovely. Then due to horrendous roadworks around Perth we decided to take the back roads home, felt a bit guilty seeing the very long queues on the A9 as we cut off across country, nice being a local at times laughing

Got back into village to see signs up for more roadworks (tarring) yell

Rain forecast for here tomorrow, so I guess after a shopping trip and B&Q's I might have to tackle the 3 baskets of ironingcry

The sprayed tar emulsion misting is fairly easy to remove with water ........ until it dries!

Well if they spray it again when they come and do the rest of the road they will get a chance to find out wink the annoying part of it was the fact that they didn't say what work was being carried out. They just put out signs saying 'work starts here on .....' had we known what the work involved we would/could have moved the vehicles totally away from the road.
