    Millie

Do you have the opportunity to submit meter readings online? I try to do them every month so there should be no need for a estimated bill.

Fuel is not your only cost, there is also wear and tear on the vehicle.

You will be able to claim tax relief on up to 45p per mile, so remember to keep accurate records.  Assuming the 80p delivery fee is paid without tax deducted, you deduct this from your claim and claim relief on the difference.  Probably just what you have been doing up till now anyway.

You will need to tell HMRC you are no longer self employed, I would assume there is a form on line that you can submit.

Hope the new job goes well!

The sun is shining and now SWMBO has decided that we're going to fettle the conservatory just when I was looking forward to a bit of Telly watching the snooker. C'est la vie😤

Made the most of the last warm, sunny weather for a few days by doing one of our favourite local walks, the NT Bath Skyline walk. Great views over the city and nice to hear the Abbey bells ringing when we set off at 10:30.

Last night was Presentation Evening at the bowls club so we finally got our hands on the trophy for winning this year's men's 4s title ( for all of about 10 minutes before we had to hand it back to be replaced in the trophy cabinet!) Also meant I picked up my share of the winners' cheque for all of £8 - bang goes my amateur status then!! laughing

We did some telly watching today except it was the London Marathon for us! The programme ended at 3 p.m. after which we went shopping at the Tesco Extra just round the corner! The Sunday roast will be going in the oven shortly. It's Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, gravy, carrots and brussel sprouts with horseradish sauce.

Notsure that you actually close anything down, it is more to do with which pages of the return they expect you to fill in.

If they think you are still self employed, and you do not fill in those pages, they may well isue a fine.  They will assume no change if you do not tell them.

(If you did any SE work since 6th April, you will still need to fill in those pages for this year.)

That's one mile out and one mile back......otherwise, you are subsidising the company........again.

HMRC are not known for their generosity, but they accept that £0.45 per mile is about right to cover tge cost of running a car. And have done for about five years now.

Virtually all reasonable companies pay £0.45/mile. The NHS pay £0.56/ mile to their staff ( but then, money is no object for them!).

The AA publish figures for the real cost of running a car. They vary depending on the purchase price of the car and the mieage done, but all are more than the HMRC figure.

Cut the grass today. Didn't really need it, but with some poor weather forecast, thought it best to get it done.

Then I fettled up the bikes ready for next trip away.

Then I sat out in the sun reading. Cannot help but feel guilty doing that, but what the heck!
