Very frosty start this morning, when out with Rosa
Then home for OHs hospital appointment , back by 1300
Site filling up we have now got four hired Autoroller motor caravans near us, non members @£43.50 per night and they are quite surprised how cheap it is to stay

Not a lot of chance of it getting cheaper in the future

Ps just been asked if I knew if this club had sites in Scotland as they are going to hire some motorcaravans with some more friends of theirs in July as they are going to tour up there to do they say ,have I heard of the north coast 500?,

Just finished booking a September tour, took a while to work out all the dates as weekends especially are busy, in fact most of September is busy, August would have been easier!
Had thought to go up to Brora, but there were only odd days available, no doubt due to the NC500 thing. Morvich and Kinlochewe were similarly unavailable. Instead we are going to Banchory CAMC, followed by a CL, then Dingwall, Glencoe and Oban CCCsites.

Great news Robsail. Really pleased for you all.
TG - Good to hear Slatebarns good as we have it down for a future visit.
Had a pleasant drive home from the cottage, stopping for an hour or two at Tatton Park to view the gardens, which at the moment is more Tree Viewing than Plants and Flowers but they do have some wonderful Apple Blossom as they are cultivating oodles of apple growth. Fantastic variety of Apples that they have. Anyway it was roughly half way to home and we got around in the dry before the showers started.
Great to see the owners of the cottage before we left as they were up at 1.30 for lambing, back at 3.30 then up again at 5.30. Never heard a thing. Really nice people. Will return some day. Seems to be our Motto.

Well that’s us finally away. We left home late on yesterday afternoon and stayed last night at Strathclyde Park club site then an easy hour and a half tow up to Killin today. Site very busy but it’s great to be away again. Took a wander in to the village earlier and had a couple of pints outside one of the pubs which was nice sun was out too so a bonus. Just awaiting the rain to stop then putting steak on the Cadac for dinner. Happy to be out again.
Hope everyone else has a nice weekend

I finally managed to speak to someone in the eye clinic at our hospital this week. It appears that there is a year to 18 month wait for my cataract op (thinking about the age of some of the poor souls I saw when I went for my outpatient appt in Feb 2020 I doubt if all of them will survive that long). OH and I have had a discussion and decided that I should go private so I have set the wheels in motion for that today.
A very pleasant day here today. Quite mild, no wind and mostly sunny. As they have finally finished re-surfacing our road and painted all the white lines we went out today firstly to our local farm shop and then had a wander round our local garden centre.
I hope both moulesy and Francis have good trips away and also anyone else out and about this weekend.

I think you have been waiting long enough Millie so I hope you can sort out a private appointment, best wishes!
It's nice to hear people have been enjoying their breaks, hope the latest ones are going well.
Miserable day here today, hailstorms and chilly.
I have had a long chat with a relative, his Mum has died and we are going to watch the funeral via a video link next week. He decided to look after his Mum at home because he knew he wouldn't see her if she went into hospital. I felt very sorry for him but we had some nice catch ups about the family. Our grandfathers worked in the same area of Birmingham and two gas holders are the last remaining reminder of that era, painted in Aston Villa colours they are about to be demolished, a bit of history gone!
Finally we are going to see my sister and BIL tomorrow, hoping the BH holiday traffic isn't too bad, will wrap up warm and take some plants we've been growing.
Enjoy your weekend one and all!

We had a good 5 nights at Bulley Farm CL which is great for walking straight from the site through lovely Bluebell woods. Met up with a fellow tourer and her dog, Ronnie and Luna, who came up from Southhampton for a few nights. We had lots of laughs and the odd glass or two of wine were consumed.
Drove down into Wales this morning through rain and hail showers, to another CL, near Bridgend, that we've not used before. This one too is full, as the last 3 have also been. Rain stopped just after we set up, so we were able to have a dry walk on the common after lunch.

So sorry to hear about your relative's Mum brue. How lovely that he decided to look after her at home so that they could be together. I hope you have a good day with your sister and BIL.
Glad to hear that your trip is going well nellie.

TG - Good to hear Slatebarns good as we have it down for a future visit.
Don't think you would be disappointed, just further down the lane is a small campsite. A two minute walk to Roslin Chapel and another two mins to the crossroads where there is a nice restaurant/pub/hotel. Shops are 5 mins by car, Sainsbury, Asda, Ikea and the retail park.
Overcast just now but going to head out in the car to the other side of Edinburgh.
We met up with OHs neice and her OH yesterday for coffee, had a good catch up.
MilleH, sorry to hear of your extended wait for your op. Its been a long wait, hope you find something suitable soon.
Have a good weekend to all out and about and those just returning.

Spent a fair portion of today attacking the washing & drying, but, alas, it will over run into Sunday - so I'll be able to keep one eye on the pot and the other on the kettle !! No No No
!! I meant to say one eye on the snooker finals on the telebox
, Getting a bit carried away there, sorry

We're out in the caravan at Conkers C&CC site. Only around d 20 minutes from home, so will be going back to play for church tomorrow and pop in to the house to make sure our son put out the rubbish for the bin men!
It's been sunny today, fir the most part, but quite cool at times. After our BBQ we met with some of our friends - socially distanced, and wrapped in blankets, so we could at least say hello. No awning get togethers this year.

Looks like I'm Billy No Mates today.
Had my second OAZ jab this morning and, touch wood, have no reaction to it this time around. Yippee. Then again as I wasn't suffering I was sent out into the garden to do some weeding and rearranging.
Not much chance of it this afternoon as it seems to be precipitation falling from the sky and something called puddles are forming.
Hope those away are fairing better with the weather and enjoying themselves.
Good luck with sorting out your eye problem Millie.
Had a bit of luck as I had an appointment arrive from the hospital that I've been waiting for for months and it's on a date that I'm actually home this month. They'll probably move it.

A trip into town this morning, and we’re now both vaccinated for the second time. We even got stickers this time!
So next Sunday we’re planning on going the supermarket (Booths) for the first time since March 2020. We’ve been using their Click and Collect since then. One thing I’m looking forward to is picking up short dated reduced items - they’re never listed on the website!
1 -
Well done on your second jabs Goldie. I’ve been wondering about a supermarket visit too as, like you, we haven’t been into a supermarket for over a year. We are staying at Troutbeck next week for a while but I’ve chickened out and booked a Click and Collect in Penrith. Maybe next time??!!🤔

We have recently been to a couple of supermarkets, Waitrose and Morrisons. I think it sensible to pick your time. Monday (not bank holiday!) seems quite a quiet time. What we like about Morrisons is that it seems to have a lot of space, well certainly in the CMK one which is quite new.

As I had decided to go back to home deliveries just before Covid arrived I'll be sticking with them but I've popped in and out of local shops through covid so probably won't do much more than that...except a walk around Booths when we're up in Booths country! All of our nearest supermarkets are very large and a good distance from us except a smallish Waitrose in another direction.
I was up early for a delivery today but the extra work getting a delivery for our neighbours will come to an end and that will be a lot easier!

Spent most of the day attending to the laundry, silently muttering ( swearing actually
) at the occasional rain shower but now all done and dusted apart from a couple of sheets and the, fortunately washable, kitchen mats still out there daring the starlings and sparrows to perch where they shouldn't !! Evening meal in the oven, couple of socks needing some 'pointed' attention, then its snooker all the way to the Wooden Hill Time !I've been attending to my Civic Duties for some weeks now, so all supermarkets have heard the ABM clog dance~~ Even Sandbach Waitrose which has a One-Way system in operation with regular tannoy announcements to ensure we all obey. All necessary 'cos they are in the Time To Up-Date mood at present with only two freezer cabinets working. There are Times that I'm so very pleased to be boosting Government Funds by driving round the County Palatine and burning oodles of fuel whilst visiting t'other supermarkets to see which gorgeous tasty comestibles they have that others lack

Back home again, wasn't due to be until tomorrow but the forecast is for heavy rain and high winds. We decided late afternoon to pack up early and come home in the dry, trying to cross the Forth bridge towing a caravan in high winds isn't my idea of fun. Of course they can always close it then you have a long detour.
We've had a nice break, remembered how to do things
and made a note of what we hadn't put in the van.Only one food hick up. I thought I'd put in a tub of homemade bolognase, turned out to be chicken curry 😂😂😂 thankfully I noticed before I put the pasta on.
Garden looks like it had a good water while we were away as the grass has greened up. Some work to do in the garden this next week hope the weather plays ball after the rain tomorrow.
Good to hear more getting their second jabs, we've been going into supermarkets all the way through the pandemic. Some are better than others at keeping shoppers safe. Under the first lockdown things were very strict but it didn't last and now folk wear the masks but that's about it. Many no longer wipe the trolleys or sanitise their hands, its down to you to make sure you stay safe.😡

We are rarely up that early!!!!! During our working life we tended to start work slightly later than most but worked later, sometimes to 8/9.00pm so I suppose it's a habit. My youngest son often gets up at 5.00am to take the dogs for a walk before going to work early so he can get on before the usual interruptions and meetings. If we are anywhere by 11.00am that is pretty good going

We have a 3 week Click and Collect system going and have had it for quite some time now. Helps with cutting down time in a supermarket plus all "heavy stuff" put on that order leaving just fresh food for a shop visit.
I do notice any deals on the C&C but it has 2 downsides. Firstly it may all be gone before your collection date and secondly the offer may expire before the collection. If we're desparate we can always pick it up on our weekly visit.

Glad you had a nice break TG, sensible to get home before the bad weather sets in, we have 50mph winds forecast tomorrow and heavy rain, not a day to go out. The M5 was quiet yesterday, I expect the next rush will be for Spring holiday half term.
We have been looking after our visiting dog today whilst his "parents" did their first music practice at a local farm, so they had fresh air and shelter in a big barn. They have two outside events coming up locally, but the big band music will take longer to start up, more complicated on the HS front.

Been a lovely few days here so far in Killin. Weather has been hit and miss Friday was fine yesterday was ok but a few heavy showers and today has actually been ok the rain has just started a short time ago. Been out and done some good cycling over the past couple of days the views up here are amazing and the old railway cycle path is excellent mostly off road and takes in the old viaduct. Went a drive yesterday afternoon to Pitlochry we hadn’t been there for over 25 years so It was nice to have a walk around there last night we got chips from the little chip van in the village we have used it before and it has always been good last night was no exception recommended for anyone if they are up here. Tools a drive down to Callander today which was nice very busy though but it’s a town we always like to visit normally when we are there we go for a drink in one of the local pubs but it was a bit chilly today to be sitting outside so gave it a miss until next time. Site here has been full all weekend I suspect there will be a lot of vans on the road tomorrow. Snooker has been good we have spent most of our evenings watching that.
Hope everyone else whether away or at home have had a nice weekend

We drove up to Birchover in the Peak District yesterday. Very heavy traffic everywhere, not surprising I guess, given it's the first Bank Holiday since lockdown was lifted. All the Cotswold towns were absolutely heaving!
The cottage we're staying in is on a farm just outside the village with no passing traffic so very peaceful, apart from a few inconsiderate sheep and their lambs bleating outside and a very noisy pair of peacocks somewhere down in the village. At the top of the village is a very nice looking caravan site called Barn Farm (it's a C&CC listed site) which looked very busy yesterday afternoon when we walked through. Great views from the site though.
Above the village is Stanton Moor which is renowned for a number of standing stones - the photo shows the "cork stone" , named for obvious reasons, and a little stone circle called the "nine maidens" circle. Legend has it the nine village maidens were caught dancing on the Sabbath and turned to stone. A short distance away is a larger stone, reckoned to be the fiddler who played the tunes they danced to.
Outside the farmhouse here are the original village stocks, so I'll have to make sure I'm on my best behaviour this week (I usually am!

Good to hear that many more are getting their second jabs and those that have been out and are now back home have had good trips. Can't blame you for getting away early TG if the winds are as bad as forecast.
We had a good walk day yesterday morning along the coast between Ogmore and Southerndow, after a visit to Ogmore Castle. Managed to get back to the car just before the rain came down. Today was much sunnier and warmer, and we had a walk along the Ogwr Ridgeway Walk, taking it n the highest point in Bridgend County, Mynydd y Gaer, all of 295m. Hardware battened down in preparation for tomorrow 's forecasted bad weather.

We followed in tda's footsteps today and had a lovely time at Easton Walled Gardens. We met up with eldest son and family and after a picnic lunch in the grass car park had a very enjoyable wander in the gardens finishing in the gift shop. Although I didnt spend quite as much as tda I spent enough! I have quite a lot of planting to do tomorrow! Son and grandson were fascinated with the robot mower. DIL and I loved the auricilas. We were so very lucky with the weather as we had sunshine and no rain. We finished by going back to where they live in Crowland and had a walk to look at where they dug up the 30 ton amphidian tank recently. You wouldn't believe the size of the hole!
Great photos moulesy. So good to hear that you and francis are having a good time.

We enjoyed Killin, Francis. We were there 18 months ago and I saw an otter in the river, first time ever for me. We missed the beavers at the end of Loch Tay though. Sadly will have to disagree about the chip van though - when we tried it they were truly awful!!! Luck of the draw perhaps?

Isn't it refreshing to have things in life that you can rely on? That constancy helps to regulate this mad world that we are living in at the moment so 3 cheers for the Great British Bank Holiday Weather. Never lets you down does it?

I sincerely hope all of those who are or will be subject to the Gale Force winds about to batter them will get through them without any damage or injury and those on the roads either going home or to their holiday destinations will be extra careful, maybe even take cover in a local CL or site until tomorrow.
For us, it's a day indoors, mostly cleaning. The Cooker for me, the house for the Ladies. Might get into the caravan later to give a clean inside.
Best of luck people.
