Apparently I didn’t slow down early enough going into a thirty zone and was clocked at 33mph. So that’s my three decade plus halo trashed🤷‍♀️ Very annoyed with myself.

Ttda, I always thought there was a 10% tolerance level for speeding. Bit tough that. Mind you I've often been wary of the Traffic Police in both Notts and Derbyshire. Don't forget to tell your insurer.

the 10% is not really official but accepted in most cases, except in 30 or 40 mph zones, however, my cousin, ex police driver always told me that you cannot be doing more than 30mph when leaving a 30mph zone, however, if you are doing e.g. 34 mph when entering a 30mph zone but you can prove your were in the act of slowing down. e.g. brakes applied and brake lights on, this would be ok, but this may all be B.S.   undecided

As the Lockdown is lifted and the world starts moving again, Brian would like to remind TtDA, Wherenext, Rufs et al that the one place where you MUST behave is on the roads in North Wales --  A55 etcetera -- 'cos the Bobbies there do NOT take prisoners !!  Should they stop you then Behave Nicely !!

As we live not a mile from the A55 Brian and see on a daily basis in local news what they have to put up with I can fully understand where they are coming from. Besides which one of our near neighbours has not long retired from traffic duty in the area and he has enough stories to fill a few volumes.

WN. We were due to sample the delights at Yeo Valley as recommended by my sister but lockdown intervened, the gardens are a great attraction as well. Will hopefully visit when things improve.

PS I like your new view, we used to look over that way from my Grandfather's house, happy days!

Mixed day here, this morning was dry and cold, this afternoon the rain started, its now pouring down.

We got out for a drive before the rain, still local but its amazing where you can get to on all the back roads.

Neighbours over the back from us having a party outside under a gazebo in the pouring freezing rain, mad or what.

Our next door neighbours were also out putting together a gazebo in the pouring rain, what is it with these folk, they can't have more than 4 people from 2 households at the moment, no indoor visiting allowed, yet today they have had both sets of grandparents in their house. They have banners across their conservatory windows saying " new baby boy" but she isn't/wasn't pregnant. surprised

Winter 10 tog duvet for us just now but we don't heat the bedroom from 9pm on. Summer one will come out probably May time here.

Ah, I think I might know where you were? Not far from Lancaster? Featured on a very interesting TV programme. End of River Lune?

👍 Do you remember the name of the programme?

Sorry to hear about the speeding fine. I got done near Wrexham speeding up out of the town. I'm always wary in Wales now.

Tda. Have they suggested you could do a speed awareness course? OH got caught out in a similar situation a couple of years ago. He had never had any points on his licence in all his years of driving so like you was very annoyed with himself. The course cost as much as the fine but at least he avoided the points. He was surprised to find that most of the people on the course were in the older group. I think the courses are online at the moment due to the current situatuon.

Some of our grandchildren are very excited as they can resume their sports training this week.

It's ok ABM, I'm just looking in, I've been outside, checking to see if the sundial has re-set itself!wink Beautiful day, so am going back outside with some lunch, OH has gone to get building stuff as there's more on his "to do" list.

Hope, if the weather's good elsewhere, everyone is enjoying the warmth. smile

Yes ABM we are about, I looked in over breakfast but didn't post.

Enjoying the now glorious weather, we had a blip about mid morning, which coincided with the dog walk, so I wasn't overdressed.

Lunch eaten in the garden and a quick look on here before starting the jobs for the afternoon. Ironing first off 🙁, then gathering bits for a trip out tomorrow which will include Christmas presents and new baby bits 🤞. Feeling quite nervous and excited about doing something that was once considered ordinary stuff.

Right sitting here won't get things finished and then maybe another sit in the sun before getting dinner.

Oh milliehull that's a brace thing to do 😱. Anyone think we still can't have indoor visits.

Just having my cuppa, after ironing, in the garden. Decided to iron in the conservatory as I've been doing over the cooler months- silly move had to remove clothing as temperature hit 33c. Popped outside to get washing in, and can confirm wind is still chilly, especially out of the sun!

I have to say its wonderful to feel really warm sun on your flesh, well face 😂, it's a whole different warmth to that you have indoors. I'm savering it as forecast for Easter weekend is the opposite.

Hope others are managing to enjoy the sun too. Obviously that excludes folk who have embarked on decorating 🤫🤣

Wherenext you've been very quiet on the power sorting situation, I take it nothing has changed. Hopefully my asking hasn't raised your blood pressure.

Edit a peacock butterfly has just landed on my empty mug, first I've seen this year. So beautiful

    Hi B2.

I did get someone who promised in an email to place my tariff onto the one that was promised way back in December and he said it would take 7 days. So after 14 days and nothing happening I made an official complaint to the Ombudsman. Next day I received an urgent "Can you Contact us" email from supplier only to be told that I would have to wait until 2nd.April to get a phone call back. Told them not to bother and just let Ombudsman sort it out.

Blood Pressure actually decreased after I put in their hands as there's nothing else I can do.

Mind you it rose again today when we  had an email from email provider saying our email would be locked as someone has tried to hack into it. Took me an hour this afternoon to sort it out.

Up early as window replacement company here to replace the bathroom window in MiLs bathroom. No problems thank goodness.

We're taking MiL out tomorrow as its her birthday on Wednesday ( appointments that day) so I've been cooking 2 days worth of food, plus we had a Click and Collect for both pet food and from Tesco. Busy day all round.

The howling wind from last night has now settled down a bit. Must admit that I'm suffering a bit with tree pollen but it will soon pass.

Hope the rest of you lot are enjoying the sunshine, if you have it.

Sounds very sensible re decorating, might have to go for it like that ourselves. Out of interest how many rooms? Wondering if ours could be as quick..........

Dont worry about the weekend, they're saying freezing temperatures, after all it is Easter 😉

Wherenext it seems a long while since you placed it with the ombudsman, must be my imagination. Do you get a time frame for them?

Glad window change went smoothly, shame about the wind, not your wind, and your busy day. I find if there's more than one item on the agendas day I'm exhausted these days 🤣🤣.

Many happy returns to MIL for Wednesday

Sun beginning to loose its heat now, but that's as well as I need to prep dinner. Car sorted for tomorrow's outing, didn't need a trailer after all 🤣

Ps I see you changed your avatar!

Bakers. you have to wait at least 8 weeks from the date of your first complaint before taking it to the Ombudsman.

Plus with a lot of people now working from home they give the company 28 days to respond before pronouncing, so the wait will go on.

Yes, hopefully it will be the speeding awareness course. We had to send document back as OH is named driver, but it was me driving. So hopefully they will issue another notice, and then I can do the course. Better than points on license. I don’t want to have to send my license in, as it’s still my original paper one. Apparently the courses are online at the moment, so that’s even better. Fingers crossed I can do one.😇🤞

OH picked up his very first speeding fine a couple of years ago in Amble, a fixed camera. Again, a couple of mph over in an area new to us. His first ever misdemeanour. He said that it was a mix of ages on the course. One chap had got penalised for being 1mph over in a 30 zone. It’s a fine by any other name, but better than points. Some police forces are super keen, others seem to give a little more leeway.

We have had a lovely sunny day here 26.2C up the weather station pole phew even a bit warm for mowing but the area around the house done the field will be done next month. Have moved our van to different part of the garden as our friends are bringing their van down on Thursday for about 6 weeks whilst they have a new fosse septic tank installed and other work as well, so 2 vans on site haha their van was ours before they bought it off us so it will be in the same spot as when we had it, good job we have plenty of space, they are going to help us cut down 3 large leylandi bushes at the bottom of the field as they are rather brown and look awful, have decided to keep the trunks and install a small sun canopy on the top of them will give us a different view of the field and farther away from the road.

We will being having our jabs next month on the 22nd and the second jabs on 17th May, OH managed to sort it all out this morning so much paperwork even online.

9 rooms, 2 of which are bathroom type rooms so only ceilings and doors to paint, 1 is conservatory which only has 2 x floor to ceiling walls and 2 x quarter height wall.

Most of the painting is just emulsion, but lots of woodwork, e.g. built in wardrobe doors in 2 double bedrooms etc, all these were lightly sanded, undercoated then satin finished, guys started at 0815 hrs , finish 15:30 - 16:00 hrs which gave us time to put things back and clear another room, they use quick drying non smell paint, so woodwork dry within 2 hours, brilliant, just waiting for new blinds to be fitted, hopefully Wednesday, like living in a gold fish bowl and very hot as lounge is south facing yell

p.s. all windows are UPVC so no painting required

Been a lovely day here as well, hot and sunny. We have cleared a big area of garden at Mums today, all set for having a nice safe patio and sitting out area done for her. Forecast for rest of week is lovely, we won’t be venturing far from home though, will just enjoy all our hard work getting garden sorted, maybe sort out a nice cycle ride somewhere. Fingers crossed we get a Spring like last year, April was lovely here last year.🤞

Decorating going well so we treated ourselves to half an hour off for a cup of tea in the garden late afternoon. Glorious out there. I agree bakers2 it is so lovely to feel the sun on your face.

A friend of mine who is a keen swimmer went for a swim in our open air lido this morning surprised.

Happy birthday to WN MIL on Wednesday 🍰

Received  a text this afternoon from GP surgery and 2nd jab booked for Friday afternoon.smile
