Happy Anniversary to the Brues. 🍾

Had a walk to a nearby village to use their Post Office as we had something that had to be returned. Enjoyed the scenery and it was virtually car free on the quiet back road.

I meant to mention Millie's comment about shopping in M&S a little while ago. Up to date the Welsh regs haven't permitted any selling of non essential items, including in Supermarkets, and Mrs WN was surprised when she called into M&S when we were in Chester last week for dental appointments to find the whole of their city store's ground floor clothing department open for business. She popped in for some food items only to find a lot of shoppers in there just buying clothes.

It does seem strange to see England having different lockdown regulations on this type of thing than here in Wales, where the FM came in for some criticism last year when he allowed shops like Tesco to continue selling clothes etc. whilst closing down specialist shops so decided this time around to stop everyone doing it. I do wish matters were more co-ordinated across the 4 nations.

When I first ventured onto CT***, Bakers2,  I typed everything out the same as I was instructed at work --> Double spacing & double Linefeed only to find one of the mods ( probably retired by now, so its ok to comment I guess innocent ) had taken exception to my style, retyped some & castigated me about the rest cry.

*** I did notice one like that { Post I mean, not Mod }  still existing when one of those weirdo posts cropped up from about five years back undecided

WN, I quite agree about the lack of consistency between the Home countries about Covid  Rules, Regulations etc.

I was Food shopping in M & S Crewe, this lunchtime, but, since the two stores are side by side on the Retail Park, I had to enter into a Q in the Clothing area before getting near the food frown. Then back in a similar line to find the tills n checkouts. Didn't mind apart from the comments about yours truly moving past the shirts etc " Oi, have you got Covid, No, why, Well you have a distinct lack of taste, matie "

Well, I've done the Census, sorted the Council Tax, AND let my cuppa go cold, so I'm away for a while,  Tara  cool

WN  i was really surprised when our daughter told me that M&S clothes dept was open. I cant understand how they are allowed to do that. There seem to be far too many shops open to my mind. When I look out of the cathedral doors when I am occasionally on duty there seem to be a lot of people walkng around with shopping bags.

Thanks all for your good wishes. smile

I think I've just been listening to a walk broadcast from Goldie's farm on PM Radio 4. It sounded very familiar!

Not long to go before people are travelling round more, the queue today at the garden centre was long and chilly. All the supermarkets looked very busy, I'm not used to seeing these things. Strange that M&S are selling clothes (WN & Millie,) I could understand if they were just offering click and collect.

I went into our high steet M&S fairly early on to buy some food, ground floor clothes available, in fact things that were usually upstairs stopped to ground floor. I understand Tesco, Asda and Sainsburya  are selling everything. It seems unfair to me at other clothing and shoe stores have to remain closed and unable to trade. Not that I want the shops open just a level.playing field. That said it must be really tough if you have growing children, much requests for uniform or selling of same on our neighbourhood fb.

Folks tell me town is busy and I went into the garden centre for a plant and was surprised at the amount of customers. I'm with you brue I'm not used to all these people 😱

Our garden centres don't open until Monday and we've said we're not going to rush to join the hordes so will wait, until Tuesday at least!laughing Probably later in the week.

We have at least a dozen small to medium pots that are vacant and can do with filling, if only with seed. Plus Wellies, oh and a new ensuite bathroom for the birds.

Sterilized the water tank, flushed it through and put about forty litres in which will do us until we can go away properly. Got around to making some letters and numbers out of black fablon so now I can be spotted from motorway bridges.

Happy Anniversary to the brues smile

Another lovely day here, out in the garden all day again, finished off a project we started last year but had to leave it over winter due to the freezing weather. All completed now, we have a water feature smile

M&S have been open up here all the time, they do have a foodhall but you can still shop for clothes. Same as the Range, they hardly have any food in there but full shop open.

Garden centres have been closed since Christmas not due to open until the 5th of April I think. Totally agree about the devolved nations approach, totally confusing.

Saw my hairdresser today while she was visiting my neighbour, she said she had just been to get the appointment book, did I want an appointment, oh yes please laughing

We too listened to the walk, it sounded most enjoyable. I recognised the name as soon as it was announced.

Happy anniversary to you both. Hope you enjoyed your take away.

I got the awaited text this afternoon, so have booked my second jab for early next Thursday morning.😁

Well done! Yes Caz Graham came round last week. It was a much longer walk/recording that was shortened (and shuffled about a bit). It’s been “bumped” a couple of times to make way for real news stories.

Just caught 'the walk' on BBC Sounds about 20 minutes in. Lovely, would like to have heard more, Caz Graham sounds out of breath tough terrain??

Robsail I'm really sorry to read your OH respite cancelled, I can only imagine the disappointment for you both. Can it be rescheduled or is it oversubscribed anyway?

Best wishes to you and yours Sell. smile Yes roll on better days.

Thanks Goldie, I didn't catch the first bit of the programme so wasn't totally sure. Here's a LINK if anyone want to listen, it's on the schedule at 5pm, you'll have to move along the output bar to find it. I usually listen in at this time of day on our kitchen radio (at least I wasn't cooking yesterday!)

Sorry you didn't have helpful news about respite Robsail, I hope the right PPE arrives asap. The fresh prawns sounded good!

Thanks again for all your good wishes. We enjoyed our take away except I got the wrong pudding but it was nice!  The occasional take away has relieved some of the lockdown pressure in the kitchen. laughing

Not tough, just a bit muddy as she wandered off the track. This Tweet from Caz has a few of the photos she took.

Thanks Goldie, I caught the bit about the Dipper's nest. I'd not seen one before even though we once lived by a river where we saw Dippers. Learned something new! smile

Belated happy anniversary to the Sell's. Hope you had an enjoyable day.

Goldie thanks for the link, muddy ground does make it harder and believe me we in Essex know that this year 😉  Like brue I've never seen a dippers nest.

Grey here again, oh we were spoilt yesterday! But ground drying, dog walk was slightly better mucky wise.

After a week or more of grey, grey, cold days, when it hardly seems to get light, it would seem that Spring has arrived in East Yorkshire (well for today, anyway).  Glorious sunshine and almost warm - what a transformation. Spent an hour, this morning stacking away what I hope will be the last delivery of logs before Autumn. I didn't realise it but this lockdown has also affected log supply and everyone seems to be struggling to get hold of them.

Pond is full of frogs, doing what frogs do at this time of the year and I almost feel like going out and cleaning the caravan.  (I did say, "almost")!

Yes it’s lovely today, went out into the garden with a fleece on that was quickly removed!  Amazed how warm it was.  Tidied garden and decided to take a peek in our hedgehog house, packed full of nesting material and a very dead hedgehog, really sad as I was so hopeful something was hibernating in there.  Oh well, they don’t all make it over winter. Hopefully another one will use it now we’ve cleaned and washed it all.

Logs.........we have linked up with a couple of gardening services, they let us know when they are tree cutting, and drop off for us. Usually cut into decent stove friendly chunks, and we can sort out those that aren’t. We had three drop offs last year, this is now drying, while we burn the beech we had cut here now. Cheaper than buying ready dried, does need some effort, but working well for us. Extra cash for gardening lads as well, they rarely earn much per hour, so a bit of a win for them.

Sounds like you have got it sorted, ttda - will they drop some off in East Yorkshiresmile

According to our usual supplier, there just hasn't been the felling being done and everyone is struggling to get hold of logs. Whereas we usually get a trailer load, he's restricting it to half loads and to regular customers, only.

He's hopeful things will return to normal by the end of April.

Unlike r&r I actually turned the feeling into action. Sterilized the water tank Friday and yesterday washed off the roof and cleaned all the detritus that had accumulated in the nooks and crannies. Managed to polish about two thirds of it so far. Feeling my age this morning so I'll leave the rest of it until tomorrow. Then I'll work round the rest of the van over a period of days. The roof is always the worst bit to do. Only another week and at least we'll be able to go out for the day.

OK Cy - you've made me feel guiltyembarassed.  I'd better get out there today since the sun is shining here, already.  I did the roof a few weeks ago but it needs another go.  We are due to go away on 14th April and my thinking was to leave it until closer to that date, but I know I'm just making excuses and putting off the inevitable.  I'm just struggling to get motivated!

    Promise to try hardersmile
