Hope you escaped without more power outages, Brue ! They never, ever come at convenient times do they ??!! Five minutes before you want the cuppa and OFF it goes only coming back on when that rep's standing at the door chatting away

+1, once the batteries outnumber the ICE’s then the tax will not just appear it will grow. Same as fuel tax there’ll be a tipping point-death & taxes. . .Guarantees🤷🏻♂️

See my oft repeated comments in the vehicle and EV sections on here...hydrogen, mileage tax, all sorts of things will change in the future as they always do. But at present our EV and our old classic car don't attract vehicle tax....you could tow with a vintage car JVB?

Just had a call from the dealers to say that the caravan can be picked up tomorrow so we're off for a short 5 night break. We've never had to take so much caravan stuff with us and the car will be heaving. Normally we just saunter out to the drive and load it with clothes and food etc. but those areas had to be clear for work. Mrs WN will be sitting on towels just like when she was a little girl going on holiday to Devon with her mum and dad.
Our fields are also flooded Brue. No power cuts though thankfully.

Busy day here. Had to get Mrs Ones car started and get to town for a new battery. It was 11 years old and only does short journeys, so not too bad. Called in at electrical wholesalers and spent over £400 on parts for the scout hut. Amongst other stuff going to change all the light fittingS to LED and change some of the sockets to include USB. Delivered stuff to scout hut.
This afternoon went to hospital for a blood test, in and out within 10 minutes so as it was a lovely day walked home via beach and river0 -
Text today from NHS saying I had been referred for an ultrasound, which was news to me, though it had been discussed about 7 weeks back, and could I come on Friday! Ring this number.
So I now have an 11.15 appointment, hospital just 5 minutes from DD's house. Should only take 15 minutes they say, which is just as well as OH has an appointment at a different hospital, about 15 minutes away, at 14.15.
Meantime, I have caught whatever it was that OH had and have the same terrible cough. Hopefully it will not last as long as hers has.
Additional handles for DD's utility room have arrived and are now fitted. Tomorrow we need to source tile trim from our local B&Q, tiles arrive tomorrow so will be able to get on with them immediately.

Lovely sunny day here, so OH was able to get most of the laundry dry on the line for a change, and all our walks out were in the dry. Called in at the Doc's this afternoon to check up on referral for Dexa Scan. Secretary cannot deal with it as it goes to a separate agency to allocate appointments, so after contacting Lancaster, who no longer do it, onto Westmorland Hospital, and now waiting for them to phone me with the date. Hope we won't have to come home from next trip just for a 15 min scan.
Hope you soon get over your lurgy, Kjell, and that you don't get any more power cuts brue.

Enjoy your break WN, nice to get away.
Kj hope you feel better soon and you can get to your appointment. OH took an unexpected phone call from the hospital today and he's going in for an eye appointment tomorrow AM (I'll be going too as he won't be able to drive afterwards.) The tests should have been done last December so at least they hadn't forgotten.
I phoned for a local hair appointment next week and they are all suffering with this rotten bug, hairdressers husband was manning the phone with a voice that sounded like cracked concrete!
edit Posted at the same time Nellie, good luck with the scan, hope it's sooner rather later.

Just watched Sunday's episode of Vera. I was amazed to see that the location for the school they used was a school I had done some supply work last year. It is Tanfield School in a place called Stanley which is up the road from Beamish Museum.
The reason I was so amazed is that it's bit off the beaten track and it must have taken some really good, and perhaps local, 'location spotters' to find it. I doubt many locals would know where it is.
And an excellent school to work in btw.

It's been a bit wild down here. One of the club yachts broke off its mooring and ended up banging against the sea wall at the top of the harbour along the A27. That's the second one in a couple of weeks. Not as bad as the '87 hurricane though. There were about a dozen then. One of them, a 27 footer was washed right up on to grass bank at the top of the sea wall then.

After the windy night ,I found our bucket I use when rinsing the van off on site after a mucky journey, four pitches away under a bush
When on my way to wash up last night after dark I counted 9 aircraft overhead all heading for or taking off from the four airfields that flight paths take them over our area, what pollution?
plus the international space station passing over

We are having it good here in South Yorks at the moment. Yesterday was a very nice day, today is more overcast but at least it’s dry.
Big day for me today. I have surrendered re the heavy garden work, and booked my Mum’s garden team to come and sort out my wild patch. It was just getting wilder, so had to do something. They are unearthing all sorts of treasures, so I can enjoy the “nice” gardening tasks, rather than trying to tackle the heavy duty stuff. Back tomorrow to take our old hedges down to a more manageable 6ft rather than the current 8ft😱 Then there are just the beech trees to get sorted......lots and lots of firewood for next Winter👏👏
Hope those not to well, awaiting appointments etc pick up and go ok. My OH had a scan a couple of days ago, purely routine, so fingers crossed all remains well🤞

I don't think I'd manage our garden without some help TDA so it seems to work out well for us. The person who helps likes doing things I don't like. OH just ploughs on with his stuff and it seems to keep things going. Got a new tree arriving soon so that's a job OH will like (whilst groaning about "not another tree."
) Hope you get yours organised so you can enjoy it more.
Terrible weather, hospital this morning for OH, ok for the next 12 months. Lots of flood water round here, roads closed etc.

I shall be passing through Ulverston on Saturday Brian and will twiddle my tie in salute.
Picked the caravan up from the dealers and headed to Grange-over-Sands site before the gales and rain struck. Managed to get set up and 5 minutes after sitting down to lunch the heavens opened. Had to visit Booths for food as we didn't have room in the car for any. Considerably poorer but did enjoy the Chilli from the butchers counter.
Hope all scans are clear.
Off to Leighton Moss RSPB tomorrow.

WARE -- WEATHER WARNING !!
After a visit to Aged Sister ( and a short sharp disagreement with an HGV delivery driver ) I settled down to watch a frame or three of snooker, when I saw something whizzing past my windows. T'was SNOW
blowing past just before the rain showers came. It has been forecast but I really did not want to see it !!
So any of you out travelling, enjoying yourselves or even gardening up this way -- Get those thermals aired & warmed and those waterproofs rechecked like wot I'm agoing to have to do

Posted at the same time Nellie, good luck with the scan, hope it's sooner rather later.
I've no idea when they'll phone, brue. If we're away I'll just have to postpone it as it's not really urgent. Glad that you're OH's scan went well and hope that other's are fine too.
Well I'm at last free of my plaster, but do have a splint to protect the wrist till I've full movement. In all I was away from home for just 1 hr, that included walking there and back to the hospital, 2 visits with the consultant and a couple of x-rays...good old NHS. Lots of exercises to do now and must take care for a while, but at least I'm allowed to drive so will be looking to get away from early next week. Just have to decide which direction to go.

That’s good news Nellie, glad things are going well. You will be weather watching now then😁

Thanks & you can say that again. We just need to find places where they don't allow snow!!

At last a brighter drier day (for now) the last few days have been awful.
Monday was OH's Mum's 90th birthday, so we all went out for lunch. Still meeting members of family that we don't know
Decorating now all done and the tidying up is just about finished, we've sorted out a few more bags of things to go to the charity shop.
We've had a few items up for sale at a very cheap price but so far no takers. One is a camera and tripod that our son had for uni work (art) its still in very good condition but it seems no one wants a 35mm camera these days. Another item is a briefcase type satellite dish and tuner again almost giving it away but no takers.
Thinking about going out and cleaning the windows just needing to get up the interest. Can't get window cleaners round here.
OH sorting out windscreen wipers for the Toyota, he ordered some the other day but its the wrong fitting they have sent so photos now taken and a new set on the way.
Great to hear your pot is off Nellie, this must be the longest time you've been at home for a while.
Hope all those not well get better soon, suns out again so I'm off outside before it decides to go in again.
