York Rowntree Park Flooding 27th Dec 2015

Is the Rowntree site actually flooded or is it just the access road which is underwater? Looking at the BBC video footage, which I assume was taken from the air yesterday, I cannot quite see for sure but it does not look as though the site itself is effected.

Well the expected happended and i got my call to say my booking has been cancelled for next week. The warden also said they expected the site to be closed for another two weeks and directed me to Beechwood.
Good news. It might make sense to transfer all bookings to Beechwood Grange for the minimum period to get Rowntree up and running and then give you the option to cancel It would then mean you were guaranteed a pitch rather than hope others do not get in before you.

Beechwood Grange is a lovely site. It's also near Monks Cross park and ride. You can even take motorhomes and park safely. The bus is a reasonable price and if you are pension age its at the reduced price. You will enjoy your stay there if you decide
to go0 -
It is a nice site and stopped there a few times last year whilst visiting family ,the down side for us is not being able to wAlk the dogs off the site . This can be just a bit inconvenient at times with being in a motor home , otherwise it's a brilliant

How close is the nearest point where a decent walk can be had?

I saw the sign about walking dogs , I assumed it was if they are off the lead , is there some sort of bylaw that makes it lawful order.
It's on or off-lead; the access road (presumably private) is shared with a horse stud where the horses are frequently exercised. However, the dog walk is a quite large field where there isn't an issue with them being off-lead: I can't believe the restriction
would present an insurmountable difficulty to anyone.0 -

They are valuable racehorses with a single bar fence keeping them in. Dogs on the road even on a lead could frighten the horses and therefore there is an absolute ban on dogs the access road.
There is a good dog walk though at the back of the site but if you want to take dogs off site they will have to be in a vehicle.

Write your comments here...I understand there is a sign and I'm not encouraging anyone to ignor it but wonder how enforceable it is. I wonder if it's part of the terms and conditions of staying on the site. Just wondering.. Oh and I don't have dogs so that
not my reason for asking0
