Considering France next year - First time ever Pt2

After reading all the useful advise provided and scouring some sites online, we have decided to go the whole hog and drive down to Languedoc-Roussillon (with a stop off along the way)

There seems to be some differences of opionion online about the route to take with caravans. About-France.com advises to avoid the A75 south of Clermont Ferrand if towing a large caravan due to the long climbs and decents.

I'd welcome any opions on this and alternative routes that you have used. Viamichelin is suggesting a route either via Lyon or via Tolouse.
